open log;

WHO: Ronan Lynch and the unfortunate souls of De Chima (i.e. Y O U)
WHERE: De Chima, Virginia
WHEN: Month of August
WHAT: Open log! Let me know if you want a specific starter ([plurk.com profile] chelicerae
WARNINGS: Ronan Lynch is probably his own warning

a; music store

[He's not in the instrument section, although he could be. He hasn't played any music in a long time, but he listens to music like crazy, and it's not all the digital downloads. Sometimes Ronan Lynch finds weird music that he can only listen to on cassette or vinyl or CD. He likes the weird serendipity of it.

He's looking, right now, at something for a shitty band. Chainsaw is on his shoulder, and the manager has been trying to gather up the courage to kick him out for fifteen minutes.

He actually is putting the CD back when Chainsaw opens her wings and smacks someone's face.

Probably yours.]

b; on the lazy river

[It's the kind of heat that would drive anyone crazy; Virginia heat, hot summer weather. Ronan had been home, it's his day off, but he's not dealing with it well so he took to the river.

It's a popular spot with local teens (and some imPorts) and he's trying to find a spot that isn't covered in people sneaking beers and splashing. He manages to find one eventually, and he's swimming, casually, when he hears someone approach and looks up.]

What are you doing here?

[ It's been hot as hell all day, the kind of heat that makes the asphalt feel like it's melting and the bones inside a person's skin feel leaden. Adam's spent half of it stuck under a car and the other half traipsing through the undergrowth of his favourite forest spot trying to work on controlling his power. He's hot, tired, cranky.

But Ronan looks worse.

Currently the other boy is draped across the couch, tank top sticking to him awkwardly. There's a sweat that he's studiously ignoring at his temple. Adam can feel the misery rising from him like the thick soup of air around him. He doesn't think twice about grabbing his wallet, nor about tossing the keys to the - newly dreamt - bmw on his boyfriend's stomach.
]

Come on.

[ The car at least has AC. And Adam has a plan. ]
aberth: (( one hundred. ))

It's a furnace in here too, asshole.

[ He feels the atmosphere hit him the minute he steps outside. Part of him wants to rush to the BMW but he knows that'll make things worse. So instead he just waits until Ronan unlocks it, the leather uncomfortable as he slides in. It's easy to flip the AC on full the minute Ronan shoves the key in, the chilly artificial air immediate and blessed. ]

We need to stop at the grocery store first.

[ As part of his plan. ]

[ said person who gets her face smacked with the bird's wing is Mint Aizawa, who's currently rifling through the cd selection trying to find any sort of classical or a specific Broadway soundtrack. Coming here fresh from 2003, Mint still hasn't fully wrapped her head around the idea of digital downloads. You find something on a CD and you listen to it on a CD! That's how it works.

What doesn't work is getting whacked in the head by a bird. Mint frowns at Chainsaw, giving the bird a tiny little glare.
] That was incredibly rude, you know.

[ It's said in English, but said to Chainsaw. And, due to her Porter power, even though she's talking in English, it can be understood by birds. Which...means it can also be misunderstood by Ronan but hey, she's looking at the bird, she's not looking at him! ]
admemoriam: (i laughed the loudest who'd have known)

[Noah laughs, his face only halfway out of the water. His nose blows bubbles, and his eyes crinkle in the sunlight.

With a giggling gasp of air, ]
I was already here. I could hear you drive up from a mile away.
dreamkid: (BAM an infectious laugh)

c. animal shelter!!

[personal profile] dreamkid 2016-08-14 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ Matthew said he would visit Ronan at work and he's the kind of boy who likes to keep his word, so he shows up one day without any warning, as eager and happy as one of the shelter's puppies. Ronan gets an enthusiastic greeting, and the enthusiasm only grows as Matthew wanders, looking around, meeting the animals, getting an idea of the place where his brother works. Like, for real, for money. Ronan. ]

Oh, she's so cute. Can we get her out?

[ "She" is a tortoiseshell kitten with too many toes and a ridiculously short tail, and Matthew is well aware that he does not have permission to bring any more animals home but he really wants to hold her for a little bit. ]

[personal profile] primadovea 2016-08-14 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Apology accepted, [ Mint calmly responds, as if talking to birds is no big deal in the slightest. And then, out of curiosity, ]

Do you have any idea where the classical section is, by the way?
admemoriam: (i'm just a ghost out of his grave)

[personal profile] admemoriam 2016-08-14 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
But you keep me around anyway.

[He floats up onto his back, all skinny ribs and freckled elbows, and splashes some water in Ronan's direction.]

[personal profile] primadovea 2016-08-14 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have any idea where the classical section is? [ Mint repeats, shifting her attention from Chainsaw to Ronan. She doesn't know who this guy is (except his name's Kerah? Okay) but hey, she'll trust Chainsaw telling her to bother him. ]
dreamkid: (More beautiful laughter)

[personal profile] dreamkid 2016-08-15 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ Matthew is already attached in the easy, unreserved way that Matthew tends to get attached to things and animals and people who aren't his family. It's the kind of attachment that never seems to cost him anything. He holds his hands out for her, welcoming the little fluffball into his arms, and laughs when she tips her head back at a ridiculous angle to look up at him. ]

You did good, [ he tells her happily, pleased that she's got herself a family lined up already. Her whiskers curl forward and that's the only warning before her paw shoots up to bat harmlessly at his nose, making him laugh again, louder this time. ]

Ronan-- [ He looks up, grinning. ] You've got the best job.

[personal profile] primadovea 2016-08-15 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Mint gives Chainsaw a look that's pure 'can you believe THIS guy?'

She then proceeded to equally sass Ronan back, SORRY BUDDY.
]

Considering that the manager seems dead set on watching you, he's been less than ideal with helping me. So I'll give you one more chance to be less vulgar: do you have any idea where the classical section is?
dreamkid: (Right! Sure! Clever!)

[personal profile] dreamkid 2016-08-15 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ Matthew gives a boyish shrug and continues beaming at the kitten, having managed to just calm her enough that she's letting him scratch her ears. ]

You can dream a whole house.

[ Ronan does not exactly need money. ]
dreamkid: (Chinhand smile)

[personal profile] dreamkid 2016-08-15 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Matthew would be very bad at that part. ]

I know, I know.

[ He's wandering around again, keeping a gentle yet responsible hold on the kitten. ]

I already have a job, anyway. And I'm getting real good at some of it.

[personal profile] primadovea 2016-08-15 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well at least the bird's being helpful. Mint knows that by doing this, the boy's liable to make fun of her, but whatever. She doesn't care, this is a weirdo superhero world, she might as well embrace her weirdo superhero power and carry on a conversation with a bird in a record store. ]

It's mostly instrumental, [ Mint responds, looking directly at Chainsaw and ignoring the hell out of Ronan. ] Classical music is often made before the 1900s, usually to be performed in an orchestral or chamber setting.
