[The backdrop is certainly grim. Day to day is one thing, but the reason that they're here for real...]

Yeah. That's something I have no theories on how they do it. When we arrive in this world, that file has been generated already, with your entire history up until the present. How they do that... is something I can't figure out.

There was stuff on mine I didn't even know about myself. It was... weird.

... Really?

[Riku's not sure that's the case with his -- but then, he'd skimmed it. He didn't want to read about his own shortcomings. Especially in someone else's words.]

That's the first time I've heard someone say that. I think this is the first time I'm discussing it in depth, though, too.

Mm.

Back home, I'm different. A lot of people were after me for it, so I kept it a secret. But the people in charge here already knew.

So... I got rid of my file, and I'm not registering.

[Despite everything, she's smiling. She's going to take Riku's hand again too and start leading him outdoors finally to the cafe area.]

Aren't you hungry?

I see what you mean. There were events in it that I've kept secret, because of what I did during them. But all of that was detailed.

[Aerith grabs his hand in hers again and he looks down at it without meaning to. She's unconcerned with the way he is, it seems. Or maybe she can't tell -- he doesn't know, really. But he follows her anyway -- he's getting used to it, slowly.]

Maybe a little. What do you want to get?

[Oh, she's very interested. She'll just want to talk more about it once she knows Riku better, somewhere quieter and somewhere less quiet. She's a private person. Aerith keeps the conversation light as she pulls them through the crowd and out to the food stands.]

Well, I was thinking you should treat me to some of those cute key cookies you were showing off before.

[Oh right, it'd probably be polite to let go of him now. Whoops.]

[Riku's mouth curves, hands retreating to his pockets when she lets him go.]

I could do that. Well... that's this way. We'll check it out.

Great!

[She'll trail right after him without question for free food.]

[resipiscent]

[The table in question sells more than just Keyblade cookies -- there's something that might be Kaneda's bike, and there's a Komasan, and various superhero emblems, too.]

[She's starry eyed for a moment, then pulls out her phone to snap a pic of them all.]

I think I need to show Kaneda and Komasan later~

[Because she's picking out a Keyblade and bike one to eat right now.]

Heh. I guess so, huh?

[There's actually stuff here that he doesn't recognize, even. But then, their community is pretty big -- it's realistic to think he hasn't seen everything there is to see.]

Is this lunch?

Hmm?

[Oh, right. Actual food is probably something that should be considered after all of this wandering.]

What do you have in mind?

Hm... hang on.

[He's considering, and then tilts his head to the left, gesturing for her to follow. Once he's found what he's looking for he stops, looking back at her.]

How do you feel about noodles?

[This stall is actually an extension of a place in Heropa Riku goes fairly often. They do ramen, mostly. Today they're advertising a thing where they'll make a person's face out of a sheet of seaweed and lay it on top of your bowl.]

I love noodles!

[Aerith's obviously excited to get to follow him around instead and even more excited about the prospect of her face in her ramen. That's just so... silly. But in a cute, harmless way she can get behind, unlike some of the weirder art inside.

So she's definitely getting that.

(And Riku is too, whether he wants to or not.)]

I can't wait to show this to my friends!

[resipiscent]

[She looks so pleased, and he smiles, nodding. That's a better reaction than he was expecting -- she's genuinely enthused, instead of just accepting.]

All right, then. That's what we'll do.

[23wishes]

[She sits down with him for their food to finish cooking, still pretty excited. She's swinging her legs under the table. The silence gets boring after a few minutes, so Aerith breaks it first.]

I never had a lot of friends growing up. Most people thought I was weird. And besides that, we didn't have a lot of money. Truthfully... being here so far has been really nice.

I have a good job, and new friends...

But with everything going on with the porter and whoever is in charge... It's complicated.

[resipiscent]

Mm... I know what you mean. This is the most comfortable my life has been since before I left home, and I was fifteen then. So it's... been a couple years. But then... I guess it's impossible for any place to be perfect.

[He's curled his arms on top of the table, and looks away after a moment, mouth curving again.]

Also, you're not weird, as far as I've seen so far. I'm weird.

[23wishes]

[She winks.]

As far as you know~

We're both pretty weird.

I'd know.

[What your powers are doesn't have any weight in weirdness, in Riku's opinion -- it's if you were super evil or something, that's what he's more concerned with.]

Hmm.

[She could read him, but that might be rude.]

Could you sense it too?

[resipiscent]

I can't tell what you can do, if that's what you're asking. I can -- get a general feel for what kind of person you are, that's all. Weird, to me, is -- for instance, there used to be a man here I knew who was outwardly a pretty good guy, but... he didn't feel like that at all. That kind of thing is what's weird to me.

[23wishes]

I'm the same way! I can do that too!

[Suddenly she's super excited again! There's no one alive like her back home!]

Yeah?

[Whoa, she's instantly right back to being completely stoked. But somehow he gets the feeling that... the way their powers work isn't the same. Does that count as doing the same thing?]

Mine may not act the same as yours, though. How do you do it?

[23wishes]

[Can he blame her? She's literally one of a kind.]

It's... kind of hard to explain. I can look inside people and read their souls. If I do that, I can get a feel for the kind of person they are, or if something's wrong or different.

Like Cloud from back home. His soul had a kind of echo that was familiar. Yours... seems to have something different about it. Tetsuo's is really special.

[resipiscent]

Huh...

[He's interested. This is like... being able to read someone's heart. He's curious if Kairi can do this.]

Well -- my ability isn't quite as -- graceful as that. Mine works via scent. But I can pick up on magic or strong emotion, too. I think it's to do with my magic, but... I could be wrong.

[He's not, really. It's an effect of using the darkness, after all.]
