Yes, because of your nose. That was the tipping point.

[vorbarra]

[ He rubs at it a little self-consciously. ]

It's a good thing I already knew how dense you are.

[dendarii]

[ Miles just grins again and leans up to kiss the bridge of it. ]

It is a lovely nose. And if I'm the only one properly appreciative of it, then that just makes me special, eh?

[vorbarra]

You're special all right, [ Gregor says dryly, smiling a bit at the kiss. He lowers his hand. ]

You got me to consider men at all.

[dendarii]

[ Oh. Miles flushes faintly at that. ]

Really? I did that?

[vorbarra]

Mm. You'd sit right here while I was cooking...

[ Gregor's hands find his hips again, as if to reaffirm to himself that he can touch him now all he likes. ]

And all I could think is that you were finally at the right height for kissing. It unnerved me at first. [ To say the least, but he's trying to keep this positive. ]

[dendarii]

[ His blush deepens at that, the gesture somehow more intimate now that he's got the full context for it. He lets his hands rest over Gregor's. ]

Ah ... Not so unnerving any more, I hope.

[vorbarra]

[ Now that is something else he can appreciate uninhibited for the first time. Gregor deliberately sends across some of his enjoyment of Miles blushing, how attractive and satisfying it is to him. ]

Not at all. [ Rueful, ] Spock helped with that significantly.

[dendarii]

[ That could quickly turn into a feedback loop. Miles reluctantly tamps down a bit on his end lest he find himself completely bloodless in his toes or something.

He opens his mouth to say something pithy - and then pauses. ]

-- Wait, Spock? Vulcan Spock?

[vorbarra]

... I did tell you about that.

[dendarii]

You did, but I didn't realize -

[ He's startled, first and foremost, and there's the slightest curl of jealousy underlying it. Is this how Gregor felt knowing Miles had slept with Jim? Or Spock for that matter? ]

Why?

[vorbarra]

[ It's not far off, no. And Gregor can't really blame him for that, for all that he winces. Oh. He'd thought that'd gone suspiciously smoothly when he'd said it the first time...

It's more than fair that he explain again. Plainly, ] He was the only man I felt at all compatible with that I trusted with it. And I couldn't bear approaching you with my feelings only to potentially find that intimacy would make me... feel sick.

[ Because that would transmit over the link clear as day, and doing that to Miles of all people-- God. What a heinous thing. ]

[dendarii]

[ Miles settles at that, seeing Gregor's logic instantly. The jealousy remains, though, still mentally wound around himself. ]

... I'd know. I'd - have assumed it was my fault.

[ Because of course he would have. ]

It's part of why I didn't say anything. I thought I was asking you to make a terrible choice with no good outcomes.

[vorbarra]

[ There's a hesitance to Gregor mentally that doesn't reflect on his face, him trying to decide how much to reveal of how it'd tortured him to feel this way. Surely there's nothing good that can come of admitting it now... Surely there's no reason to put Miles through knowing that.

He doesn't know if he can or should do anything about the jealousy. It seems something not easily resolved. Gregor's had mostly vanished by sheer simple fact of being with Miles now, and his agreement not to sleep with others again. He can at least offer that in turn. ]

I've no intention of doing it again. But you're not wrong that it was something I had to clear up for myself. Doing it with you would have been fraught. [ To say the least. ]

[dendarii]

[ He's missed something ... maybe that's for the best. For once in his life, Miles decides to let it lie, however reluctantly. ]

Too much at stake. I ... suppose I was doing much the same, in my own way. [ A pause, as he tries to say something insightful here ... but the only thing that comes out is: ] He's so tall.

[vorbarra]

[ Thank God for that.

Gregor's internal coiled tension relaxes and is replaced with an exasperated look. ] Barely taller than me, [ he points out. ]

[dendarii]

You're tall. Which I like very much, don't get me wrong.

[vorbarra]

[ Gregor eyes him. ]

Yes, I do know that. How is that relevant to me sleeping with him?

[dendarii]

[ Miles fidgets a bit at that. Stupid, stupid little coil of jealousy messing him up. ]

Well, he doesn't have to sit on counters to kiss you properly, that's for sure.

[vorbarra]

[ That was jealously? Gregor is taken aback for a moment. But he suspects this has little to do with the physical differences between them, in reality, and more a general feeling of inadequacy. ]

He also doesn't know my soul inside and out. I wouldn't want him to.

[dendarii]

[ Just so, especially in this. He flushes again at that, his gaze falling to the floor. ]

Right, right. Completely irrational, isn't it?

[vorbarra]

Mm. We're all a little irrational.

[ He'd rather Miles told him these things than keep them to himself and let them fester. Gregor brings a hand up to gently nudge Miles's chin, so he can kiss him slowly, filled with meaning.

Murmured against his lips, ] I happen to like kissing you on counters very much.

[dendarii]

[ That coil of jealousy withers significantly in the warmth of that particular gesture. Miles softens into it and lets the feeling go for now. Instead, he loops his arms around Gregor's neck to hold him closer. ]

Me too. [ A little breathlessly. ] And I like you holding me, and I like curling up next to you in bed.

[vorbarra]

[ It doesn't escape Gregor in the least that this works where logical assurances hadn't in withering it. He'll keep that in mind for the future.

Hearing him go a little breathless is gratifying. ] And kneeling to greet you. I don't mind that at all. [ Interspersing their sentences with more leisurely kissing. ]

[dendarii]

[ Kissing is proof, after all. He's heard comforting words before; he hasn't had the jealousy kissed out of him. ]

Should I - [ He tilts his head back, inviting Gregor to kiss along his neck. ] - leave a pillow there? For your knee?
