We were flirting the other day...you know, like we always do. But something was different. She...eto...

She flirted back. [He knows that's nothing new, either. Plenty of girls flirted with Kaneda, and none were enough to get him out of bed and talking like this.]

And I felt...different.

[Kaneda felt different? Lots of stuff is different. Kaneda's been acting weird as hell lately, too. And there's a strange feeling of things he doesn't know lingering around...

He'll get there. He's just got a lot of history with Kaneda in the way of realizing what this is. It can't be that. It's Kaneda.]

[Kaneda's never been one to beat around the bush, certainly. But there's some sort of finality to this next statement, and he has to think hard about it before it leaves his lips.

Because this turns his whole life on its head, and by all points he should be more nervous than he is saying this.

Bu the strange thing is, it doesn't feel like it's hard to admit at all.]

[Maybe he does, but it's Kaneda! Tetsuo doesn't say anything at first, but he's listening intently, finally completely awake. There is no fucking way Kaneda's going to say what Tetsuo suspects he might be getting at. Maybe this odd other reality he's been stuck in is finally showing its true colors.

[All of Tetsuo's mental panicking is tenfold now in Kaneda's brain. Because he knew exactly what this meant. The days of Kaneda being the boy who couldn't keep a girl for longer than a week were over. It left the realm of familiarity and into unfamiliar territory. One that Kaneda isn't even sure he's supposed to be in.

But this feeling, he knew what it WASN'T, and that could only mean...]


She might be the one.

[No way. After that mantra starts, it's only a matter of time before it makes it out of his mouth. No way no way no way -]

[Hands thread through his own hair, even more confused at himself now that the words left his mouth.]

[Silence takes hold of Kaneda as he watches Tetsuo burst into laughter, eyes wide in....you know what, he can't even say it's surprise. This is the most normal reaction Tetsuo could give, given Kaneda's reputation back home--and for awhile, here.

That still doesn't stop him from grabbing that teabag and flicking it at his head.]

[The teabag only makes him laugh harder.]

[There's a sentence there. He ends up downing more tea to try to get a hold of himself.]

Tetsuo you son of a--

[But he hears something upstairs, freezing in place as his hands grip the sides of the table. It's probably Capsule moving around the room, readjusting himself. Or maybe it's just one of the random creaks from the wind. Either way, he looks at Tetsuo, who's still laughing.]

Keep it down, asshole!!

[To Tetsuo's credit, he shuts up as best he can, though the gleeful grin hasn't left his face. Oh.. right. It's ..]

So-

[Deep breath. Ahaha. And in a smaller voice - sure, he's milking this, but that's HIS job, not the house's.]

[Kaneda settles back down into his seat when Tetsuo quiets, hand slipping through that mug and pouting at it.]

I've never been...you know.

[iamtetsuo]

I know!

[And holy shit is it fantastic to watch him squirm now. Suffer, villain. Tetsuo leans forward conspiratorially, setting down his tea to continue this in an even lower voice. Like it's some kind of secret that Kaneda has a record.

Hell, maybe it is.]

[There's a flash of a glare, quickly casting down to run his fingers through his hair.]

But the way she looks at me....

[Breathing out a sigh, Tetsuo rubs at his face. He can't believe he's saying this. He can't believe he's about to do this. But the instances in which he's a master and Kaneda a lowly apprentice are few, and not to be discarded.]

[He twirls his cup idly...eyes casting to the side.]
