[Jim is watching all this from the sidelines in silence. He's not sure if he's ever actually seen Gregor and Cordelia together before, let alone like this. It's kind of sweet but god he'd be embarrassed as hell at Gregor's seeming age to have this happen. Then again, he probably wouldn't sit this still this long at his age.

He waves off Gregor's apology immediately.]

What're you apologizing for? Not your fault. "Confusing" doesn't even begin to cover it.

[That last bit was some empathy there.]

[ She'd glanced back at Jim when Gregor did, turning a little more then necessary so most of her face is turned away from Gregor as she silently mouths "thank you" to Jim. ]

[ Gregor takes a deep breath. Sure enough, with the immense inward pressure of his feelings trying to explode outward partially vented-- listening to that discussion was tough for him-- the embarrassment is worsening. He barely knows Lieutenant Kirk, and what he does recall of him has the strong tinge of keep your distance. ]

I feel like I have a second person stuffed in my head, only he doesn't say anything, just muddles things up, [ he complains. ] It wasn't bothering me until... until Miles.

[He gives a barely perceptible nod to Cordelia, slight eyebrow raise because he really isn't doing anything except getting roped into answering questions.

Jim doesn't say anything here though to Gregor, surprised he's talking this much, tilting his head slightly and quirking an eyebrow, inviting him to explain more.]

[ ... Nope, that's it.

All he does is repeat his earlier words in a more frustrated tone: ] I want it to go away.

Muddles things up how? Sitting there saying you want it to go away isn't going to make it happen. Might be easier to talk through it.

[ This just gets him to shake his head and press further against Cordelia. ]

He's the real Emperor, he should have to deal with it.

[ She encircles him with both arms again, the one hand returning to the back of his neck to help soothe the headache again. ]

Ah ... you just want to be a kid while you are a kid. [ Said in a soft tone, not judgmental at all, just observing out loud. ]

[ He ends up mumbling, a little guiltily, ] Ken took me to school with him yesterday.

A public school, huh? Did you have fun?

Um. Yes. I was a little older than his class, and I don't know anything about American history, but it was nice going around without security. Kind of unreal.

[keep_nothing]

Not scared at all from their lack of presence?

[vorbarra]

No. Aral let me go so it can't be dangerous.

[ Confident of that. ]

[ She unsuccessfully hides her smile at that, unwilling to tell him how wrong that actually is; planning is one thing, planning for the unexpected is never easy or possible. ]

Very different from the tutors you're used to, eh? Even the academy I expect was different from that.
