FEBRUARY SEMINAR OVERFLOW
WHO: All imPorts who haven't taken the evacuation option!
WHERE: The Royal Mansions Resort in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
WHEN: February 16-20, from 10 AM to 8 PM.
WHAT: ImPorts attend The Perestroika Seminar to receive mandatory training and brainwashing. Need a quick recap? Be sure to check out a brief description of what they'll be doing HERE, though we will be separating this into sections for your reading pleasure! ImPorts will be able to distract themselves with their mental link on the network during brainwashing videos, and imPorts who possess a strong will will be able to resist being successfully brainwashed. We leave the extent of the ramifications of brainwashing up to the individual players, and what they are comfortable with. Please direct all questions HERE.
WARNINGS: Brainwashing, mental manipulation, and possible violence. The original log can be found HERE. Please remember that anything written in this log will not count for AC -- it's just up so that any players who have continued their logging don't need to deal with captcha. Have fun!

[Again, she fits the arrow carefully to the bowstring. Again, she slowly draws it back, and takes several long moments to aim. And, as Fuu suggested, she keeps her aim up even after firing.]
Fire three!
[This time, the arrow just nicks the edge of the target in passing.
...
CLOSE ENOUGH.]
Oh, I hit it! Did you see, Fuu? [She claps her hands together excitedly.] That was a much better arrow! You should hang on to that one!
no subject
Wonderful! I'll be sure to mark that one so we know it works well. It's like the Americans say: the third time's the charm.
[And now the magic...? Fuu waits expectantly. She really is curious to see what it's like.]
no subject
[IT'S SCIENCE, or something.]
--Oh, but I promised you some magic, didn't I? [The (expensive) leather satchel L'Arachel's purchased to carry around her magic tomes is lying in the grass a few feet away, and she strides over to it and extracts a thick book with a stylized burst of light decorating the cover. Returning to Fuu's side, she holds it out to show her.]
This is a Purge tome! Purge is a powerful Light spell which can strike foes at a great distance. It lacks the accuracy of close-range spells, but for one of my talents, that's hardly a concern. Watch this!
[She utters a quick incantation, raises a hand high above her head, and in a commanding tone:] Purge! [The tome glows, and downrange, a blindingly bright light radiates outward and upward from the target they've been shooting at. L'Arachel looks pleased with herself.]
Now, normally that would have obliterated the target, of course.
no subject
You know, Water Sigil.
She watches the book as well as L'Arachel's movements as the woman casts the spell. Even watered down like this, it's an impressive display, and Fuu can well believe that it would be lethal at full power. And, she notes, it hits the target dead-on... or rather erupts from it; what a distinctive form. She claps appreciatively.]
How astonishing! [She almost says lovely, but this is magic that's supposed to kill people.] So the power comes from you and that book? It must take an admirable amount of study to become skilled in it.
/pulls FE magic mechanics out of ass XD
Oh yes, it does take study, but even more important is one's innate magical talent. If that is lacking, no amount of study or practice will avail you. You see, the caster must supply the power, and the tome contains the spell which channels that power into the form you just saw!
[She holds the tome out to Fuu.] You may have a look at it, if you wish! It's really very interesting!
[If Fuu opens the book up, she'll find it full of runic writing and detailed diagrams of... fancy circles and things. You know, magic-looking stuff.]
no subject
I see! So to become a mage, you have to be naturally gifted. [She inspects the runes and diagrams, which looks vaguely similar to the crests that she's seen employed by people like Ascot, but really it might as well be in ancient Greek for all she can understand it.] I'm not sure I would be able to cast spells out of this book... it appears to be quite advanced.
no subject
And there are several spells more advanced than this one, though I'm afraid I don't have any of those with me. Only this and a Shine tome. But do you mean that you've cast spells before, Fuu?
no subject
And you're right, I do have magic of my own--reduced now, of course. I use elemental wind magic. Would you like to see?
no subject
Yes, 'astonishing' is the perfect description! You have a wonderful way with words, Fuu! Oh, but how I wish I could show you the full extent of my splendour.
[It's unfortunate, but of course, it can't be helped. At least there's the consolation that even average spells seem impressive when she's the one casting them.
Her eyes widen in obvious interest at Fuu's mention of her own magic, though.]
Wind magic, you say? Like the Excalibur spell? [That's the only wind magic L'Arachel's ever encountered, and that tome is one of the Sacred Twin weapons. The highest level of magic there is. Very impressive. And here she thought Fuu was an archer!] Why, I would be delighted to see!
no subject
[Because it means she's succeeding at her aim, which is Egg Her On. Fuu is quite thoroughly enjoying L'Arachel's company--it's hard to think of their Russian situation.]
And if you insist, I can give you a demonstration... [Now, which one? The healing spell doesn't apply, and of course the shield and binding spells would be too tiny... that leaves the fourth.] Normally it's more powerful, but--Emerald Typhoon!
[A sharp gust, green and blade-shaped, zips over the ground, kicking up dust in its wake.]
no subject
[An Anima magic user. That's good to know! It's always nice to have one or two of those around. And a green, blade-like gust of wind--it really is like Excalibur! Not exactly the same, of course, but similar enough.
Except...]
...But you didn't even need a tome! Goodness, do you have other spells? Do they all work like that?
