Lists, really? You make a lot of them?

For pretty much everything. Even for, uh... this date, actually.

[It had a lot of branches and conversation topics in case things stalled. There was even a section devoted to what to do in case of supervillain attack.]

[amadaman]

Really?

[Dipper put that much thought into this???? Ken's face lights up]

Like what? Do you have it with you?

Um!!

[Dipper's hand goes to his bag; the bag Ken got him for Christmas, actually.]

It's kind of embarrassing?? This just seemed really important to you so I thought it might be better if I had... back up plans... in case things... got awkward?

[His voice shrinks and stumbles until it's nearly a whisper.]

[amadaman]

[Dipper is suddenly so distressed... Ken strains to hear that last part, but he definitely hears it. And he also now knows that Dipper has the list, but instead of grabbing for it, he reaches for that hand again.]

I don't think we've ever had anything go so awkward we needed a list. But thanks -- it makes me happy that you thought about it.

It's just! You know. Nice to have back up plans. Just in case. Not that I thought we'd actually need to fight off ninjas or anything.

[Dipper is still feeling kind of ashamed at his own neuroses, but Ken holding his hand is nice. Ken never seems weirded out or bothered by Dipper's idiosyncrasies.]

Taking everything into consideration is important. You never know with how things get around here. I'm used to winging it, but I guess that's why I'm no strategist.

[Dipper knocks his shoulder against Ken's.]

Hey, one of us needs to be the brawn. You just happen to have a lot of brain, too. Soccer formations count as strategizing, y'know.

[amadaman]

[He grins happily at that, and this time it's Ken that swings their hands a little.]

That book you gave me's been great. I've been reading and taking notes on it, and I think it'll really help us. So it was all you.

It's just more fun to cheer you on when you're winning. So it's not like it was completely selfless.

I'll just have to keep winning for you then, don't I?

[Why does it suddenly feel so warm? This is a normal conversation! Yet Dipper feels a blush rising in his cheeks.]

A-and for your teammates! And the school?

--Also last time you guys lost Penny got pretty excited.

Well, of course! But if you're cheering me on...

... and that time was a mess. She was upset about that for a whole month.

[ursawhiner]

I'll cheer you on even if you lose.

I thought she was going to try and punch the other team's goalie...

[Dipper definitely has a Type and Penny fits it to a tee.]

Oh come on, don't act so intimidated. You definitely liked that.

I-I don't know what you're talking about! I was terrified!

[amadaman]

[Ken debates bringing up Wendy and decides, you know what, it's okay not to bring up old crushes when on a Valentine's date. So he just laughs and shakes his head and tugs on Dipper to change their hand-holding to arm-linking.]

Are you sure?

[Dipper relaxes as he realises that Ken is poking fun at him.]

Well, every redhead I've known is super badass! What if Penny's also good at throwing axes?

Mmm. Then I think Noodle would've been killed about a dozen times by now.

[ursawhiner]

[Dipper's face visibly darkens at the mention of Fernando.]

Really not a fan of that guy.

[amadaman]

... What did he ever do to you?

[ursawhiner]

Nothing! [Boy, that was squeaky. Dipper clears his throat before continuing.]

Nothing. I just don't like him!

[amadaman]

Ah... okay.

[Note to self: cut back on how much he mentions spaghetti around spoon. Pronto.]

Come on. We're almost at the exhibit.

I guess that explains all the kids.

[They've been dodging little kids for awhile now. Dipper frowns when one tries to budge between him and Ken and steps a little closer.]
