[No hint, not at all. Ken means what he says -- they had a pact. Tetsuo carried it out. It was nothing personal. He shrugs.]

I don't know about the actual damage it did to you, but to me, you're someone I turned Nemesis against. But even if I didn't, I'm not here out of guilt or to pity you.

[He holds out the glass of water.] I'm here because I worried.

[iamtetsuo]

I don't need you to worry about me, got it?

[Yanks the water free from Ken's hand with enough force to put a crack in the glass. Whoops.]

You think you can come in here after all that and get away with it? You picked your side already!

[amadaman]

[That Ken gets to jump a little, but he doesn't back down.]

We were never on any sides to begin with, Tetsuo-san.

[iamtetsuo]

Bullshit. I'm not the one who broke the pact! You're sure as hell not on my side, so cut the act!

[He probably should have been, in hindsight. See, this is what you get for having a little faith in people.]

... Not to deny responsibility for what I did or anything, but in case you missed the announcement or the gas everywhere, we were drugged.

I don't have any ill intentions toward you.

[Okay, maybe he's been completely out of the loop and hasn't wanted to deal with even looking at his phone since he regained consciousness. And maybe he didn't exactly catch all of what was going on at the time.

And maybe hallucinating random shit is kinda an average day sometimes.]

What announcement.

[amadaman]

... Oh.

[Oh. Ken deflates, blinks, then sighs.]

The Swear-In was attacked. A man named Jonathan Crane, who also apparently goes by Scarecrow, spread a toxic gas around the campus. It made a bunch of us hallucinate, and as a result we attached each other. Natives attacked us, we attacked natives. People died, more people got injured.

[iamtetsuo]

[Ken gets a look - you're not off the hook yet, asshole - but that does manage to redirect Tetsuo's attention enough that he starts scanning the room for his comm. Easier said than done: he's actually not sure where it went, if it's there at all, and he's not in the mood to try to get up to go figure that out.

Either way he's gonna find out if there's truth to this or not. Should be easy, right, if there's an announcement and all...]

What about this Crane guy? Someone get him yet?

[amadaman]

Oh, yeah. A guy named Lucifer's got him, and safe -- Crane's under the protection of the almighty Satan himself.

[Ken will hand over his communicator to Tetsuo when he starts looking around. He has a few tabs open: Green Lantern's announcing Crane's name and outing him, Lucifer's announcing that he's protected, and Crane's own text post. He scowls.]

I've talked to him a few times. He messed with my friend's head once, and...

[No sooner does Ken hand over his communicator than it gets snatched away. Tetsuo grunts a little, moving to sit up before going through the tabs.

If anything, he just looks angrier. Most people probably feel anger because of all the pain and suffering caused; Tetsuo only cares because dammit, he got hurt by this. You don't cause all this to happen to him and get away with it.]

...he's in some church, huh?

[Don't try it, Tetsuo, don't think it]

[amadaman]

[Ken pulls the communicator back from him. He's sure if Tetsuo put his mind to it he can easily get his hand crushed into minced meat, but he'll worry about that when Tetsuo puts his mind to it.]

He is, but nobody's going in alone.

[iamtetsuo]

[The communicator offers some resistance, but not too much before Tetsuo lets it go. Now that it's not being directly offered, Tetsuo snags the pain meds and dumps out a few more than is recommended onto his palm. He winces at the contact; while the glass and most of the resulting damage is gone, it doesn't change the fact that it's still incredibly sore.

Not for the first time, he's extremely glad he can move stuff around with his mind. It makes recovery slightly more bearable.

The water glass leaked half its contents by the time Tetsuo seems to remember it's there. If he notices, he doesn't seem to care, downing everything in one swift action.]

Why, so we can get a repeat of earlier? You got a death wish or something? Groups won't work.

[amadaman]

Not in the last few weeks. [Sorry, did you not want him here? Well Ken's still exhausted so he finds a chair and drops down in it, sighing.]

Going against him alone's not gonna work either. He messes with people's heads, you fight with your mind, if you went in alone and he figured you out, what're you going to do? My Persona's a part of my mind, too; he compromises that and I'm as good as dead.

[He shrugs.] People are coming together for this stuff. I missed out on a lot of the first posts... dunno much of the details.

[iamtetsuo]

I - I'd figure something out! My mind beat yours already, you think it wouldn't beat this guy?!

[There's a visible struggle - to grill Ken for information, or forcibly shove his presumptuous ass out of Tetsuo's room. There's even a tangible force against the chair for a bit before he very begrudgingly relents. You just had to know shit, Ken, you just had to be slightly more useful around than not around. Ugh. Fine. But don't get comfortable.

Absently raises his hand to rub at his head. Instantly regrets it.]

Ungh... Listen up - you better learn those details if you wanna stick around. I didn't catch where this church is yet and I don't feel like wasting time checking 'em all.

[As if he could actually get to one of them in this condition to start with]

It's not that far away.

[The Miami beachfront. He heard it mentioned in one of the conversations to Lucifer's post. But he doesn't say it out loud, frowning down at the communicator, then looking to Tetsuo. He hasn't moved from the chair, didn't even flinch when he felt the pressure on it.]

I didn't take you as somebody who'd go on suicide missions, though.

[iamtetsuo]

[Careful, Ken, don't focus on where it is too hard.]

You heard me - it's not a suicide mission! I'm sick of random guys thinking they can pull this shit!

[He cuts off for a moment with a wince.]

Thinks he can mess with my head? He's gonna pay for it... and you're gonna tell me where he is. Sounds like you know something.

[This is a little beyond personal now, Ken. Good luck talking him down.]

[amadaman]

I'm saying it's a suicide mission because -- have you looked at yourself? I'm the one you buried in rubble, but you're the one that's still in bed. Have you had anybody heal you?

[Ken's left his Evoker in his room, but if necessarily he's willing to get it.]

... Listen. I'm not under any impression that I can stop you from going after Crane. I hate him, too. But you're not going anywhere in that body.

[iamtetsuo]

[Honestly? He's got no clue what's happened to him between then and a day or so ago. Though Tetsuo's not really aware of how bad it was, even he suspects he had to have at least something, or else he wouldn't be alive now. He's been hurt enough to know what it's like to feel his body shutting down for good. That's not unfamiliar territory anymore.

And he hates it.]

I'm not gonna be like this forever.

[amadaman]

Yeah, but you're going to be like this for one hell of a long time, especially if you try to crawl your way out of the house and all the way to where Crane's hiding behind the Devil's skirt. How're you going to fight him then, huh?

You're strong, Tetsuo-san. Your powers are incredible. But if you're in a weakened state, you aren't invincible. Jonathan Crane isn't a roach worth dying over.

[iamtetsuo]

So? I can get somebody to fix me first.

[Except he won't. Problem is, that involves trusting them to only do that. Just cause Ken's right doesn't mean Tetsuo can admit it, or back down.]

Anyway, my brain works just fine, doesn't it? [No it doesn't.] I don't need anything else to do this.

[amadaman]

Being injured and in pain distracts people. The brain will want to focus on alarming you that you're hurt and you need to back down, so the more your brain works, the more it'll get in your way while you fight.

Charlie knows how to heal people.

[... the one adult that Tetsuo actually kinda trusts. Somehow he didn't know that, but chalk that up to him not really being here that long.

In lieu of a reply, he scowls off into the middle distance.]
