[ If you're at all close to Hiro (or are coming along with M'gann), you received a message to come to Heropa Residence #016 to come help sort out the poor kid's brain. The entire log will take place ICly on July 5th; however, the post itself will be open as long as necessary to allow everyone who wants to participate enough time to do so.

[The orange and blue give him a sense of déjà vu, but not one Ken lingers on for long. It's a world created by Hiro's mind, so if there's something he recognizes, he shouldn't be surprised. But he shouldn't get distracted, either. M'gann had said that they had to focus, and Ken promised Hiro that he would come back. There's no room for his usual recklessness now.

He looks up when he hears the choice. Of course he recognizes it. He heard it just a few minutes (hours?) ago. It's his first time seeing Hiro in armor, but he knows about the superheroing so he's not exactly surprised, either.]

I'm trying to stay on, at the moment. What is this place?

[microbrobotics]

Here. Grab hold.

[ He scoots over on the robot and offers his hand to Ken. ]

I dunno. I guess it's just a place between worlds? This is what's on the other side of the portal.

[orangehoodie]

[Ken hesitates, casting a glance back to the shards glittering only feet away. But the concrete doesn't seem all too sturdy, and he doesn't want it to get destroyed before he can do anything with those shards, so he takes Hiro's hand.]

In between worlds... there was a portal in your world, too?

[microbrobotics]

[ Baymax is sturdy enough, at least; they start flying in widening loops, giving Ken a full view of the room. There's probably about a dozen armored figures in various colors, while the void above them is fantastically bright and beautiful. Textured, almost, like those plumes of color could be reached out to and touched. ]

Krei built it. And then Callaghan used it to try and destroy Krei.

Why did he do that?

[Ken presses his hands against Baymax's armor, holding on for what feels like dear life. The room is, honestly, beautiful, unlike anything he's ever seen before. But it also seems to go on forever, and once he gets lost, he'll probably never make it back out. Why is this room a part of Hiro's mind? What's so significant here? And what can he do about that shard?]

He was angry. Krei had sent his daughter into a portal he knew was unstable, or so Callaghan though. But she was alive. Out here.

[ He gestures to the swirling void above them. They're approaching that shard now, just about close enough to reach out for it.... ]

[orangehoodie]

... So that's what you meant? When you said he owed you everything. [Hiro must have saved her, gone in there -- with Baymax? -- if the interior of the portal is in his memory. Ken frowns around it again, at the rubble floating around them, and as the shard gets closer he turns quickly to Hiro.]

Hiro... this time, I'm going to help -- we're all going to, okay?

[microbrobotics]

Yeah. He killed my brother, but I brought his daughter back from the dead.

[ Just as they get close enough to touch ... Baymax's begin to putter and stall. Hiro hurriedly directs them a little lower, back away from the shard.. ]

-- Wait. If you go, you might not be able to come back.

[orangehoodie]

[Ken was already stretching his hand out toward the shard so when Baymax changes direction, he nearly slips, having to grip his armor not to lose his balance.]

But we can't leave that alone. I won't know unless I try.

[microbrobotics]

[ It's awfully easy to do that out here with little to no gravity. One false move and Ken could very easily lose himself out here... ]

I don't want to lose you. You - you might not come back out at all.

[orangehoodie]

Hiro...

[He chews his lip. I don't want to lose you. They both understand that feeling so well, don't they? If he were in Hiro's place, he would probably say the same. But whatever that is, that's hurting Hiro, and if they don't fight it--

he shakes his head.]

I will come back. I made a promise to you.

[microbrobotics]

[ He nods, finally, but not happily. ]

You're the only one who really understands. You went through the same things ...

[orangehoodie]

[In their relationship, both of the times that they hugged it came from Hiro. But this time, it's Ken who turns to face him fully on Baymax's back, wrapping his arms around his shoulders firmly.]

I know. We did. And it was really, really hard. But we're not alone anymore, Hiro... let's go back to everyone, together.

[microbrobotics]

[ Slowly, Hiro leans into that. ]

Be careful.

[orangehoodie]

[A squeeze.] I promise.

[And that's just another moment, after which he pulls back and gets to his feet. A light hop is enough to push him off of Baymax's back and toward that rubble again. He turns himself around so he's facing the shard when he reaches out to touch it.]

[microbrobotics]

[ The shard has a bit of gravity on its own; it draws Ken in closer to it, so it's quite easy to grab onto it. Pulling it out isn't so hard either. But ... the shard tugs too, out towards the void, away from where Hiro and Baymax are waiting. ]

-- Ken!

[orangehoodie]

[He feels the tug and reacts immediately, throwing his other hand out to grab the concrete the shard had originally been sticking out of. Hopefully it won't fall apart, at least not too quickly. He narrows his eyes as he tries to pull the shard back closer to him, determined not to let it fly away.]

Hiro, do you know what this is?

[microbrobotics]

[ He can hold onto the shard easily enough; the trouble is not letting it fly away with him. It continues to pull as the concrete block it was in begins to crumble. ]

I - I'm not sure. It's not supposed to be here.

Hurry up and come back.

[orangehoodie]

[Ken looks at Hiro, then the shard, then the crumbling concrete. If he loses his grip, he'll get dragged into the void and he can't let that happen, but somehow, he has a feeling he shouldn't let Hiro near it. Another piece of debris comes floating his way so he pushes on the concrete, swinging himself toward and latching on to a piece of metal sticking out before the shard can pull him away.]

I don't think you should touch this, [he starts by explaining.] I think... I think we have to destroy it. I do.

[microbrobotics]

Are you sure? Will it hurt you?

[ If Ken were hit with the shards of the ice after it were shattered ... That could certainly hurt quite a lot. ]

[orangehoodie]

It might fight me. [He raises it, eying the edge of the metal. It's a bit too close to his face for his own comfort, but there's not much else he can do.]

Stay back, Hiro -- Baymax, can you hear me?

[microbrobotics]

I can, yes. What do you need me to do?

[ Hiro, meanwhile, looks between the two of them with alarm. ]

No! If you're going to get yourself hurt, I'm not going to let you!

[orangehoodie]

I need you to make sure Hiro stays safe. Whatever happens, don't let it touch him.

[The shard is still pulling. Ken swings down, jamming it into the space between some twisted metal so that it stays in place. Climbing onto the debris so he's standing over it now, he places his foot firmly over the shard and summons his lance; it appears just as it ever had, with a flash of light and a wave of static.]

I won't get hurt, [he says to Hiro firmly.] But this is hurting you, so we're going to get rid of it.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro struggles now, trying to leap off of Baymax - but per Ken's request, teh robot just gently keeps a grip on his charge. Slowly, the both of them revolve so that Baymax is curled around Hiro, despite all his struggling. ]

No! You can't, please! Baymax, I order you to let me go!

[orangehoodie]

Hiro.

[ The concrete the shard was originally in is all gone by now. He wonders if this debris will meet a similar fate, too, and he adjusts his grip before raising it up, ready to thrust it down.]

You have to trust me.
