Turning over a new LIF
WHO: The imPorts!
WHERE: The Ashen Tree, NYC, New York. Need help getting there? See here!
WHEN: April 14th, 8:00 PM - April 15th 1:00 AM
WHAT: The April Swearing In Guessing Game!
WARNINGS: None foreseeable!
Welcome to The Ashen Tree! This sleek, elegant private property leased out only occasionally for limited and exclusive events. The Ashen Tree is a five story, century-and-half old mansion down East 67th Street, constructed somewhat in the vein of those famed and excessive Vanderbilt houses. The theme inherent to The Ashen Tree is in black and white -- this duality means more than just visual aesthetic. There is right, and there is wrong. There is good and there is evil. There is Registered and there is Unsettled. This reoccurring dilemma won't be lost upon your hosts, governmental or otherwise.
The thrust of this Swearing In is to play a game! There will be two versions of this game. If you are newly imPorted (if this is the FIRST Swearing In that occurred since you have been ported in), then you are automatically entered into a raffle to win prizes! You can enter your name into the raffle ONCE for EVERY THREAD with A DIFFERENT CHARACTER that you have! How lucky you are! If you have BEEN here (if this is NOT the first Swearing In that occurred since you have been ported in), then you may only enter the raffle if you WIN at the game.
What is the game?
The Identity Game.
Every imPort who is in the DESIGNATED ROOMS: ROOT, TRUNK, BRANCH, and TWIGS will do their best to pretend to act like another imPort. If someone (who is also in character, just like you are) guesses what imPort you are pretending to be, then THEY may enter their name in the raffle. If you guess the pretend identity of someone else, then YOU get to enter your name in the raffle. There is no sign-up for who pretends to be whom, and there can be multiple imPorts impersonating the same imPort. That will not be regulated. The more you guess correctly someone's pretend identity (which can be achieved by threading with many people), the more you get to enter your name in the raffle. You MUST guess the identity of the imPort being impersonated correctly -- there is right and there is wrong. If someone guesses your character's impersonation correctly, then you have to tell them. You do not have to keep the same impersonation for the WHOLE LOG, but you do for at least a single thread! No changing up identity on someone. ANY imPort can play this game, INCLUDING new imPorts. While new imPorts can play the Guessing Game, or impersonate other imPorts to their desire, their eligibility to enter the raffle is still judged differently. Because they're new!
The LEAVES ROOM is the "safe" zone. You can be yourself! You can stop pretending! Well, maybe some imPorts never actually stop pretending -- maybe there is some gray between all this black and white.

He sits in one of the chairs, making a mental note to get up and walk around every few minutes because these chairs were obviously not meant to be sat in for very long and watches ImPorts walk by. He'd almost look relaxed if not for his idle fiddling with the small wrist band on his left wrist.]
Sure are a lot of people this time.

(Thankfully, no one has tried to serve him alcohol. And he hasn't sought any out. So be a little proud of your little bro, bro.) ]
So what do think is gonna go wrong this time? I'm putting my money on alien invasion.
no subject
[He's so proud though! He nods his head to the crowd again.]
See anyone we know?
no subject
[ He balances on the edge of the couch arm, taking a long swig of his coffee. ]
Nobody yet ... Probably too much to hope for, getting anyone else from home.

[Glitch could've sworn he'd been alone in here for awhile. Though, maybe he hadn't noticed someone walking in because he'd been too busy jumping on a couch.
The boy turns to look at the older boy with a questioning look.]
You mean it's normally not this busy? Huh, I thought the universe just hated me...meh.
[Hop, hop, hop.]
no subject
He starts to say something but... Nah, this guy isn't his brother, so not his place.]
No, I just forget sometimes how many people show up to these things, they're only once a month.
no subject
When people look back on this day, they'll blame the guy in the hat for destroyed couches.]
Then I'm guessing you've been here for awhile for that to be normal for ya. [Jump, jump, jump to another couch, jump.]
Do you think there's food around here? Been starving since I got here. [And he looks like he could eat, being all skinny and short.]

Last time they were in our own cities so it wasn't as big. One before that is kind of a blur.

But he'd be lying if he wasn't doing the same for the trip.]
How many chances would we get to see New York City for free?

The last one was split up between the five cities and the ambassadors arranged almost all of it, so ... Definitely scaled back. The one before that was kind of a blur.
[Between the whole thing with Manabu and then the attacks, it's hard to remember much else from that swear in.]
Not sure why they picked a place like this this time.

You look like you could use a drink.
[ooc; I'm working off the assumption their Drive Meme interaction is canon. If I'm assuming wrong, let me know!]

You look like you're a little closer to your element than before.

guess it's time for a conversation whether she wants one or not; at least the guy looks pretty friendly, all things considered. Hazel considers his comment, then kind of shrugs awkwardly.]
I wouldn't really know. I haven't been to one of these things since I arrived.

Bela overhears Tadashi from a few chairs away, even though he didn't seem to be directly talking to her. She looks over at him, resting her chin on her hand.]
Sorry, I didn't quite catch that. Were you talking to me?
[Despite the slight distance between them, every word he said was crystal clear to Bela thanks to her sharper hearing.]
no subject
Sorry - didn't realize anyone was there. Just always sort of amazed at how many of us there are.
[And the people here don't even count the ones that chose not to come or could be in hiding somewhere.]

[Heiji had been making his way around the room, trying to get to know people. He's met kids a little younger than him to a lawyer, a few businessmen, and one guy over on the other side of the room he suspected to be the same Lucifer he'd been warned about. He was avoiding that section.
So many varied people, all brought here unwillingly. Heiji needed information, and he wasn't sure where to even get it.]
no subject
[No, Tasashi, the set number is 35.]
Once the actual swearing in starts, you'll know who's new and who isn't I guess.

Ah! Hey–
[sucks that he catches faces faster than names, but he'll get this one quicker than before, honest. he just needs to shimmy past some people in his overly-cautious, arm-up-just-in-case kind of way before he can catch up and call out from behind:]
Tadashi!
no subject
Manabu, hey!
[He moves to wave but - oh no.
He can feel it happening and he can't stop it, his arm moves and then his elbow cracks against Manabu's face and it's like a slow motion car wreck he can't look away from]

[Now that he's in the no-charades room and without a need to act like Minato, Ken's gladly back to his ways. There are way too many people in one building, and he's uncomfortable in the long pants he put on for this party and it's driving him nuts. At least Koromaru is having fun. The dog is still waltzing around nearby with the beanie he put on him to participate in the game as well. Sigh. Ken's not following Koro around this time, instead opting to sit down on a chair next to Tadashi (and hide in his shadow). He squints and uses one of his hands to push up at his hair, which he had to straighten so it would fall into his eyes instead of flip up as usual. Can you make a guess, Tadashi?]
Are all fancy parties like this?
no subject
Oh, probably for that game.]
Not sure. I never went to any back home before this.
