WHO: ACTUAL ASTRONAUT GILBERT and YOU
WHERE: Various places in Maurtia Falls + Heropa.
WHEN: 1/29 ― 2/2
WHAT: Not actually an astronaut, but Gil thinks he is for the next few days.
WARNINGS: Please let me know if you do not want Gil flirting/making a move on your character somewhere in your comment. He won't on anyone under 18 or those who look it. Otherwise this is a train wreck in the making. Also slightly sexual content.
➊ THURSDAY MORNING | breakfast ( closed to kenzi )
➋ THURSDAY AFTERNOON - MONDAY | wherever, whenever ( maurtia falls & heropa )

➊ THURSDAY MORNING | breakfast ( closed to kenzi )
- [ It all happens so fast that Gil can barely recall what it is that hit him. He remembers stepping outside the apartment for two seconds to retrieve the newspaper, then a white, hot flash that knocked him down the small flight of stone steps, leaving him sprawled on the sidewalk for a minute. A couple of the locals rushed to his aid and began asking if he was alright, but Gil managed to convince them he was fine.
In fact, he feels just great. Their reaction is not something he had anticipated while watching the people in Maurtia Falls all this time.
Now he stands in the kitchen, the ironing board folded out with his shirt laid out against it while the iron heats up. He's nearly done preparing sausages and eggs, rolling the sausage over so it cooks properly all over. A little notebook is left on the counter near him.
And yes, he's shirtless. ]
➋ THURSDAY AFTERNOON - MONDAY | wherever, whenever ( maurtia falls & heropa )
- [ He goes to work, of course, but as soon as he's done he doesn't even head back to his apartment. With his note in tow, Gil can be found in busy locations between Heropa and Maurtia Falls, nestled somewhere not too far from people and with his head buried in his notebook, scribbling away quickly. He'll be seen looking up often, watching everyone's every single movement with a deep-seated curiosity. Sometimes he'll tap his chin with his pen and other times he'll call someone or approach them, asking them the reasoning behind something like grabbing twenty packets of sugar from the coffee shop, or why they baby-talked their pet dog for two minutes straight.
He might have known the reasoning behind these acts once, but nothing seems to come to memory. Plus the fact the notebooks he's kept surveying human behaviour appear to be missing, which means his observation has to be restarted.
That's alright, though. Gil isn't having difficulty chatting it up with the locals in either city, especially in Heropa (and they don't mind that an imPort is stopping to make conversation with them). Anyone who comes across him might notice he's particularly friendly toward others. If not, he's likely to approach another imPort himself, getting in their space without as much as a second thought.
He seems friendly enough! ]

[ Honestly, Shade thought that Gilbert did something...totally different than meandering, but his fingers still held notes, and... well, that was simply unusual. He looked around, a touch curiously, there wasn't much around, at least nearby. ]
I don't see anything around.
[ Although suspicion started to creep in. After Bart, and a few others, people were acting a touch...unusual. Weren't they? It was enough to cause concern, even for someone who ostensibly didn't care. ]
no subject
[ Which he seems rather embarrassed about. How could he have lost something so important in his own apartment? He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. Then he closes his notebook for the time being, pocketing it in his coat along with the pen. He adjusts his collar and casts Shade a cursory glance. ]
... it got late fast, didn't it?
[ As if finally realizing the time, Gil glances upwards toward cloudy and grey skies. ]
no subject
[ He still peered curiously at Gil, like he was trying to put things together, to figure out what he'd meant by his words. ]
What notes did you lose? I'm quite good at finding lost things, you know. If you need assistance...
[ It was a token offer, but Gilbert seemed almost a touch distraught about them. ]
no subject
[ He had turned over everything in the apartment, including going into Kenzi's room (which he would never do), in search of the misplaced notes, but it was all to no avail. It's as if the notes vanished into thin air. If the little fairy dragon had gotten to them, there would have been some kind of indication. Torn paper bits or something.
He lets out a disappointed sigh. ]
It's definitely annoying to lose all that work, but maybe looking back at things helps.
no subject
[ Really, Gil, his voice clearly said, what are you going on about? He didn't know what notes he was supposed to be writing, but he didn't remember Gil looking at any notes, or really doing anything like it. After all, while he suspected that the man was intelligent, he didn't think hew was more a meticulous note taker than Shade was, and Shade had enough journals to fill a library.
Really! ]
What are you working on precisely? Notes about?
no subject
Did you not? I could have sworn I had left them sometimes in the kitchen, but they may have been in my room the whole time.
[ Shade's question perks him up. ]
The behaviour in the world, of course! Among other things. I can't exactly take notes on the fauna in this weather. I hope it'll be an early spring.
no subject
[ He's starting to wonder if Gilbert is drugged. Or simply... well, he's seen enough to know there's something odd going on. After all, everyone has been acting weird. Gilbert wasn't an exception, but more evidence that meant there was something odd going on. ]
I think, with such a small sample size, you're going to be a touch limited, are you not? Or are you starting small, and eventually working your way up?
no subject
[ He sounds quite serious about this. ]
Is there some place you have in mind? I know restaurants are a good place to observe humans, but they do have finicky rules about sitting in a place you aren't paying for.
no subject
[ At least there was still a spark of the frugal man still in there. It was something, at least, and it gave Shade hope that maybe Gilbert was still in there. Somewhere. ]
Why don't we try this, I'll take you somewhere -- my treat, of course -- and you can observe all you want.
no subject
[ He sounds a little embarrassed for lacking the finances at the moment, but also having a difficult time passing up an opportunity like this.
Also Shade carried himself with quite the confidence and class. It's hard to say no when he feels drawn to the (much older) man. He winds up smiling at Shade and nods. ]
Alright, where to?
no subject
[ He asked, with a smile. Really, Shade could have not had a penny to his name, and intended to dine and dash, and he'd have held himself in the same way. Then again, Shade was... confident no matter the avenue.
Unless, of course, he was in prison. ]
There's one a few blocks away. They have the best Chicken Croquettes.
no subject
He rubs his temple for a moment, quickly dropping his hand and giving Shade a nod. ]
Lead the way. I'll trust your judgment.
no subject
He watched, his eyebrows drawn in consternation while he watched. He even slipped off his sunglasses, and slid them back into his coat. He smiled. ]
Well then, shall we? [ He gestured, before he started to walk, pointing with his cane. ] This way! And you can tell me all about these notes of yours.
no subject
[ He follows Shade closely, akin to an excited puppy. Even the way he looks at Shade is odd... a little more intensely and intrigued than he usually is. ]
Humans do a lot of... odd things, don't they? I haven't come to fully understand many of their actions yet.
no subject
[ He asked, incredulity in his voice. He turned to look at Gil, but he never stopped moving, tipped his head to drink in the details. ]
I don't think you ever told me what, precisely, you are.
[ Curiouser and curiouser. ]
kevinspaceystaringintothecamera.gif
I'm Uranian. [ He laughs following his answer. ] We look a lot like humans ourselves which can be confusing, I know.
LMAO
[ Okay, Shade was now convinced that Gilbert was taking part in the madness going around. There was no other excuse for this. He thought he was Uranian, of all things. He squinted, like he didn't believe him -- he didn't believe him, but he kept walking. ]
So what makes you different than the humans here? Behavior? Or is it biological? Do you bleed blue? Or perhaps green?
i'm sorry shade
We live much longer than humans for the most part. Humans have such... short life spans.
[ Suddenly, it's as if an idea strikes him and he pulls out the notebook, whipping out the pen to scribble something in. ]
Of course... that is why they always seem to be in a rush. Limited time on this planet. Yes, that makes sense.
he's so confused
[ Shade had that perspective, after all, but he hadn't imagined Gilbert was that old, either. He opened the door, when they got to the restaurant, and held it open for him. ]
But...I didn't think you werequite that old to talk, you know. Any other differences I should know about?
[ He figured, if he asked questions, at least he could compare it to the other people showing such odd signs. At the very least, he could record it in his journal. ]
no subject
[ He slows down for the briefest of seconds, rubbing at his temple unconsciously.
Why can't he remember? ]
Strange...
Ah, well, our technology is far more advanced than Earth's. We've already achieved transuniversal travel that doesn't take light years to complete.
no subject
[ It was a fair enough question. ]
I'm sorry, that may be rude. I figured with all of these imports, your people would want to talk with us a bit more.
After all, some of us are...unusual on our own, aren't we?
no subject
[ A forlorn look. ]
I'm waiting for my people to come and retrieve me from this planet. They're taking an awfully long time...
[ Which is odd... but more worrisome than that. He looks at Shade hesitantly. ]
That's right, you're not entirely human, are you?
no subject
[ He said lightly, like it was nothing new. Then again, it wasn't. Most people knew Shade was...different, in a lot of ways. He'd been more than forthcoming about his odd status of immortality. Not that he meant to brag, but he'd always said it a touch readily.
After all, it was nothing to hide. ]
Perhaps you could send them a message? Or perhaps I could go there, and see.
[ Shade had no idea if he could actually go there, but maybe he could convince Gil to see reason, by lying to him. ]
no subject
Maybe if I could access a satellite?
[ How does he even know all this? Who knows.
He goes through the numerous ideas in his head, but they all fall under the same problem: how could he gain access? Humans are so oddly restrictive when it comes to sharing. ]
... you could do that? How?
no subject
Although I suspect there won't be much there, I'm afraid. We've never heard of anything on any other planets.
Unless you know something I don't.
