WHAT: Earlier in the afternoon, there will be base-jumping in elf costumes. Later on is the charity silent date auction and different performances by USA celebrities fundraising for charity this holiday season. OOC information post here.

[ BASE JUMPING from TARTARUS TOWER ]
For those imPorts who volunteered to jump from Tartarus Tower, arrivals for fittings into their costumes begins at 2:00 PM sharp. Each costume comes with a name-tag attached, and make-up artists are on hand to help affix elf ears to participants and work on their eye make-up for the ease of the cameras catching all this live.

The jumps will start at 4:00 PM, and after all imPort elves have jumped and successfully reached the ground, they'll join the bus transporting presents and Malik to the De Chima children's hospital to deliver gifts to the children in the cancer ward (and elsewhere). ImPorts will then be transported over to the main facilities for the fundraiser event as a whole, invited to attend the Silent Date Auction as well as listen to any of the various performances occurring over the course of the evening.

[ CHARITY SILENT DATE AUCTION in DE CHIMA ]
Starting at 4:00 PM, the doors to the conference hall made available for the ImPort Charity Silent Date Auction will open. Live music will be provided, along with refreshments and catered hor d'oeuvres, and televisons displaying both the news stories and live coverage of the fundraiser events occurring over the course of the evening. ImPorts will be encouraged to attend any of these performances in person, but will not be required to leave the conference hall unless they wish to do so.

There is lounge seating available, and free wireless throughout the building. Different conference halls are hosting different events in this event center, and the largest productions are happening on a built stage outside. There's a massive lit tree in the central front courtyard of the event center, and many small stands selling hot drinks, good foods, and wares outside by the stage and surrounding streets, all with a portion of proceeds going to various named charities.

Auction Threads can be threaded in, but initial comments to those threads should be the bids that a character is placing on someone else (or themselves). [ It's only after her reaction does Simon realise something was lost in translation, and he's a little more abashed now. He chuckles nervously, considers asking if it's natural before deciding that's probably rude. ]

I've never actually seen it... as a hair color, uh, until meeting you. [ Quickly, he tries to come up with a recovery. ] Uh, it'll probably catch the light really well when we jump...

Speaking of when we jump, what color parachute do you have? [ Smooth! Okay, not really. But now seems like an awkward time to mention, 'Oh yeah, mine's blue.' ]

( She casts a glance over her shoulder. )

Oh, it's blue. It matches my hair. ( Which you seem to like so much she almost adds, but decides against because she's feeling extraordinarily generous today.

Her nose wrinkles. )

I've only noticed it a few times here. I think those people dyed their hair. ( Franziska would never dye her hair. It's too pretty. )

[ She thankfully took care of the rude part for Simon, so he has a quick mental debate on continuing about the parachute instead. Losing against himself, he decides against it. ]

If it's anything like my world here, then you're probably right. [ He gives quick raise of his eyebrows with the thought before shrugging. ] Though quite a few things here remind me of home in many ways. You?

Well... ( She looks around, taking in the view. ) A lot of it the same, although some of it is very different. Either way, I'd never expected to be spending so much time in America.

( That's the worst part of it basically. What she wouldn't give to be back in Germany right now. Although it's a bit cooler here in De Chima than Heropa, it is still not proper Winter weather. )

Same. I don't even think I'd ever expected to visit this country, really. [ Especially not with the situation he was in back at home. Even so, he'd never had a reason to want to visit. ] But here we are.

And soon enough, we'll be jumping off a tower and parachuting into a park. [ He seems pretty amused by this. ] What a turn of events.

( Franziska nods in agreement. )

I couldn't have anticipated it myself. ( A beat. ) Where are you originally from, if you don't mind me asking?

Why, from London. [ His accent would've placed as Scottish, but it's not quite so heavy. And he enunciates, and speaks proper English for the most part. ] What about you, where are you from?

( She smirks slightly, picking at some imaginary fluff on her jumpsuit. ) Germany. ( A beat. ) My Papa mostly works in the States, though.

Fancy that. [ Sure, why not meet a German? He's already met a handful of countrymen, or at least a number of other imPorts with some sort of tie to the UK or British Empire (depending on what their world is like). ] But I guess that means you've been here before? Or at least visited?

( That smirk turns into frown almost instantaneously. )

He works in Los Angeles.

( Guess who doesn't think much of Florida, or these other no-where states? This girl. )

[ A quiet hum as he notes her reaction. ]

You do realise I meant this country at large, right?

[ Not that he minds or feels strongly about it. Simon had only registered for the benefits rather than any sense of loyalty to the United States of America, of all places. He may be an expatriate, but that's a better start than if he'd attempted anything on his own.

So he shrugs. ] But, if you have to be stuck here—in America, that is—is Los Angeles where you'd much rather be, then?

( Oh. That clarification causes Franziska to simmer down a bit. )

Yes. It... feels closer to home, that's all. ( She has to repress a shudder. Thinking of anywhere in America as home has to be one of the worst things that's happened to her since she's arrived here. )

Seems anyone who wants to return to their home world isn't in bad company.

[ Sometimes Simon feels bad that other imPorts miss their homes badly enough. But then he thinks about the situation he's left behind and decides it's all for the better that he's here rather than there. ]

Still, sorry to have made you homesick. Though I'm sure you're strong enough to get past all that.

[ Most people seem that way, but especially all these headstrong teenage girls and young ladies. ]

( She certainly agrees with that assessment, brightening up as she replies. ) Of course I am. Besides, my foolish little brother is here as well so I couldn't be homesick if I tried. ( She'd rather have her father but Miles Edgeworth would do in a pinch. )

You wouldn't, then? Return home if you had the chance, I mean.

[ At this point, he doesn't give it much thought. ]

Not really. But I keep hearing that there's no telling when the Porter will send any of us back. I'd like to think that I might at least be ready for whatever awaits.

[ Which isn't something he really wants to talk about, so he needs another smooth topic switch... ]

By the way, I just realised I haven't introduced myself. My name's Simon Newton. Yours?

( She recognizes the switch for what it is, but goes with the flow of conversation. For now. )

[ That should hopefully work as a decent excuse. ]

Right. ( She stretches her arms above her head, trying to get her body into motion. ) I suppose I see you on the other side.

( She smirks because it's almost a joke. )
