Heropa

[ New world, new place? Just another day for Dani. She wished stuff like this would stop happening to her already, but she knew it didn't work that way. She had not been here for very long, but after getting what info she could from whoever the hell was in charge of this place and then being shoved off on her own afterwards, she decided explore around a bit, hoping to find some of her own kind here or maybe other friends she made a long the way. Either way she was looking for her people and others who could help her out.

She most likely would be wandering the streets and park asking people if they could tell her more about the city. She wanted answers. Or she could also be found sitting down somewhere playing with her handy dandy knife because she was just that bored. ~~Or just knock her down or something idc.~~ ]

Maurtia Falls

[ During the day time, Maurtia Falls seemed like a nice quiet, quaint city, but at night time that proved to be rather incorrect. Crime-wise it reminded Dani of just about any other large bustling city (not as bad as New York, but still somewhat up there) and now she regretted taking a walk around outside in the dark. Not because she was worried and she couldn't take care of herself -- quite the opposite, actually -- but because the people out and about at this hour were annoying and really starting to grate on her nerves the more she got pestered. The card sharks and dealers were relentless and Dani was half-tempted to just shove them to the ground, but she was an X-Man, she wouldn't do that. Not yet, anyway.

She could only sigh and pinch the bridge of her nose. Ugh. ]

Oh for the love of... I already said no. [ More bugging here. ] Yes I think it would be better if you moved along somewhere else. In that direction.

Dani follows Nathan. It might have been annoying, but it was an annoyance she could adapt to.

"Isn't that just like at home, though?" She laughs a little at her own dumb joke. Yes, she wasn't serious all the time.

"True, too true." He snerks. "The main good point here is that powered people of all kinds are popular here, in most places, and now that the OTO is gone, there are no major groups out there trying to plot our downfall."

He shakes his head.

"We stopped an apocalypse, and had a minor supervillain craziness, but nothing big and nothing like... back home."

"God it feels really weird to be around entire cities where people aren't trying to kill us. Not that I'm complaining, though. It just takes little getting used to."

Some of the locals even asked to shake her hand. What the hell was this?

"And I guess I should count that as a good thing. A little bit of trouble is better than having to deal with it 24/7. I'll take what I can."

"It does. It really does. I feel like I have an itch between my shoulder-blades that won't go away."

This place made him, if anything, more paranoid than back home.

He nods to her words.

"But there are at least a bunch of us here, for good or ill. And that means we are not alone." He shoots her a grin as he takes them around a corner, and waves ahead. The Waffle Castle sign is bright and big, just a block away.

"You think it'll last?"

It lasted for a while already by the sound of it, but things always have a way of turning sour for them whenever they start to look up.

And look, they're coming up on their destination. She can taste those waffles already.

"I mean, I'm glad to see a bunch of familiar faces. I really am. But I can't help but feel that they'd be safer back at home... In our home."

"It might. From my studies, some of the people have been here for some time, and here has been anti-import sentiment but not a whit of anti-mutant sentiment. Some of us have been sent home, and others come, but... it seems almost stable."

And he knocks on wood as they pass a wooden sidewalk sign.

"Agreed. Maybe not on sex island, but home, anyway." Though part of him wondered. Could this actually be a safer place? He was doubtful, but, maybe.

"I won't be able to say for sure for some time. But I am willing to see it out."

"An anti-import sentiment might not be as bad as a mutant one." Maybe. "I But guess that depends on if they're trying to kill us because of it."

And Nate, pls. She'll just pretend that he didn't refer to Krakoa as sex island.

"Same. I haven't been here long enough to make any judgement calls yet. We'll just have to see how things play out."

"I mean, it can probably be as bad or worse, but for the moment, it seems less so."

He shrugs one shoulder as he eyes her, grinning a little.

"Exactly. Once you are settled, I want to show you a few places." His smile is warm, but also mischievous.

"I've been busy."

He opens the door to the restaurant, waving her in.

"But there are chances for fun, and for relaxing here, sometimes."

"I would hope so. Even back at the mansion with all that was going on we still got a couple of changes to relax. No matter how rare that was."

Now in the restaurant, Dani walks to one of the booths.

"Feels like I haven't played baseball or bowled in the longest time."

"Then we should do that. See if we can get together a team or two, or even just an informal part game just playing with the balls." His chuckle follows that as he nods.

"Just... something fun."

He hesitates and quietly admits as he sits opposite her.

"I've never played either."

"What? Oh, now we gotta change that. Every X-Man should know how to play baseball. It's part of our proud family tradition."

There's a joking tone to her voice as she says that. But Dani is also being kind of serious, too.

He chuckles. "Well, if you say so. I arrived at a bad time for that sort of thing. And now everyone is on..." he hesitates. "...that island."

He waggles a hand as he puts the menu down and arches an eyebrow at her. "Any idea what you want?"

"I'll teach you later. The rules aren't too complicated," she states, grabbing for the silverware wrapped in a napkin already on the table. "Does the island worry you?"

Not that she can blame him. Krakoa was Krakoa, after all. It was always unpredictable.

She grins a little at his question.

"Why coffee and waffles, of course."

"Yes. Mostly because what I know of it makes it clear that some kind of... mind-changing is happening." He shakes his head. Something is not right there, not at all.

"Alright."

He grins as he signals for the waiter and orders the two largest piles of waffles he has ever heard of with plenty of sides. When the waiter is gone, he grins at her, pouring himself coffee and offering some to her.

"I'm glad I ran into you."

"It's... Professor X has done a lot questionable things in the past. I can't really blame you for thinking that." He may have been on to something and Dani still kept a cautiousness about her when it came to him. But for the time being, she's going to see it through.

She pours herself a cup of coffee, adding cream and sugar to it. Nathan's statement makes her laugh a bit, but in a good-humored sort of way.

"It is better than being trapped in a maze for half the day. Remind me never to go back there."

"Whether or not that is true, I believe the island is a bad idea, and inviting the villain crusade to share it and help rule it is an even worse one. And I hate that I am there, but if I am not, I can't keep an eye out as effectively."

He has seen that he will be there, even though he, himself, has not lived out those times. But he had seen all too much of the current time on Krakoa form the future and been unable to stop it.

He grins.

"I would rather go anywhere else with you. But even that was fun, once I found you."

"I don't have a say when it comes to people like Mystique and Sinister being on the council, but I see where you're coming from. It's a bit..." troubling? Unnerving? Something like that. "I'm not sure I'm entirely on board with it yet."

But so far nothing too terrible as happened since then, so she's going to hold onto that sliver of optimism, no matter how small it may be.

At his last statement, she raises a brow a bit.

"Yeah well, it should be illegal to have those in the city in the first place."

She's just joking. Mostly.

"I agree. This place does play rather fast and loose with things that tend to get dangerous, a lot. I mean, if this was first starting, that would be one thing, but people have been porting in and weird shit has been happening for a very long time. There is no excuse not to have safeguards in place."

He has some feelings on this, okay?

Feeling indeed. She raises a brow slightly at him, taking a sip from her mug.

"You've thought a lot about this before, haven't you?"

"I do a lot of thinking and a lot of planning. It's kind of what I do."

He shrugs, but grins at her.

"I'll show you what I've put in place sometime." He pauses. "Not today. I still have to clean my place."

Dani has to laugh a little at that.

"Well that does make sense. The old Cable did too... so I guess you really do take after him in that way."

Then she nods at his last statement.

"But yeah I'd like that, just gimme a heads up when you're ready. I have a feeling I'm gonna have a lot more free time here than back in New York."

He chuckles. "I mean, we are the same, to a certain point." he shrugs, grinning, as he eyes her, listening.

"We have way too much free time here. Way too much."

He grins as Waffles and more come to their table.

"Now, lets eat."
