WHO: Lucina, various
WHERE: Maurtia Falls, De Chima, misc
WHEN: Early/mid-October
WHAT: assorted happenings
WARNINGS: labeled in subject headers
Maurtia Falls
Lucina's main haunts are still in this city of conflict -- same as it has been, those two and a half years ago. Gods, has it been so long already? So much else has changed...her, too.
She resides on a residential block in a rental house, and might be encountered in the wee hours of the morning on her way out to work, or perhaps on the rare day off, tearing up the sad excuse for a garden she'd tried (sort of) to maintain (and failed to) in preparation for winter.
Downtown, she frequents a cafe and pastry shop where she's made many a friend and good memory. Catching her before she hustles off on patrol or another duty is a great chance for a free treat and a chat...or perhaps a means of teaming up for a bit of crime busting?
At Helix, the base of operations for Aegis Force, practically her second home, she is constantly either at work or training for work. It's not as frantic and despairing as the month before, so she can be a cheerful spotter or sparring partner, or she can help with some kitchen chores or monitor duty! She also likes to take her breaks on the rooftop helipad, enjoying the cooler air as the weather starts to behave more like autumn.
De Chima
It's not a place she visits too often, but at least once a week, Lucina tries to make time to volunteer at the O'Malley Clinic. She's not much of a nurse, but if you ever wanted to know what it feels like to be bandaged up nearly immobile as a mummy for a simple scrape? She's your girl. Also don't you dare try to escape until treatment is over! She can double as a bouncer.
There's always a chance to catch her in the skies, as flying is her favorite pastime -- and it beats traffic. Hopefully she's not spying any trouble from on high, but if you're in a pinch, she can swoop down and lend a hand (or sword)!

[rubbing her chin with one hand, she reaches over and picks up the packaging with another. just some triangles and a funny, jagged crescent, yes? seems simple enough.]
It's just a matter of cutting on the lines, yes? It should be doable. Now--
[she looks around, blinking.]
Ah...did none of this stuff come with markers...?
no subject
[he leans back against the counter and crosses his arms.]
Trial by fire. Freestyle it!
no subject
and just stabs it into the face of the gourd.
she jiggles it a bit and hacks out a triangle-ish shape and pops it out.
and pumpkin guts begin to ooze out after it.]
no subject
I think we forgot a step... [he says, putting a hand to his beard and crouching to the pumpkin level.]
no subject
[she wipes off her fingers and grabs the booklet, flipping through it.
step one...]
Oh! It says to open up the top and scoop out the contents first! Goodness, that seems obvious in hindsight...
no subject
[he claps and grabs a big ol' spoon out a nearby drawer.]
Cut a circle about an inch around that stem up there then I'll scoop 'em for ya.
no subject
Oh, my... I’ve never seen the inside of one of these before!
no subject
You want these? Could try plantin' em...

[he takes the spoon, reaching in to scoop out more of the guts, holding the pumpkin upside down and doing nothing to stop them splattering all over his countertop. it's fine, it's clean.]
I hear they're good roasted, too...
no subject
while he's scooping, Lucina's thumbing through the booklet, paying actual attention to the instructions and wow, reading all of them instead of just giving a passing glance.]
...Oh! I forgot -- they make little electric candles, don't they? That's clever. It says that, traditionally, wax candles are lit inside the pumpkin, but nowadays little battery ones or strings of lights can be substituted...
no subject
[archie looks over as he brings the pumpkin back, plonking it on the table.]
Did you get any?
no subject
no subject
[he grabs a knife, marking out a mouth on the pumpkin without cutting too deeply.]
Try that. That's a spooky mouth. Lotta teeth.
no subject
This isn't so bad!
[she yanks the knife out at the end and, with her thumbs, gives a hearty push to pop the piece out.
too hearty a pop -- it goes bouncing off the gourd, flying toward a cabinet, ricocheting and bonking poor Crobat on the back of the head.]
Oh! Sorry! Sorry...!
no subject
Can you... crush these? In your hands?
...Can you do it? I wanna see it!
no subject
she exchanges the look with a blink.]
Um. I, I suppose I could...
[she hesitates, then climbs out of her seat to go to her box of pumpkins, picking up one of the smaller ones.]
But...wouldn't that just make a huge mess in your kitchen, Archie?
no subject
[archie...]
Just... aim it towards the sink, maybe.
no subject
Very well. Please, protect your face, though. You too, Crobat.
[she walks over to the sink, holding the pumpkin out with both hands.]
Ready?
[because once he says he is, she'll squeeze...and the thing will crack and goop will spray and splat on various places.
and people.
her, it splats on her.
she has to blink a few times to see past a string of seedy goop.]
...
no subject
Bahaha! Ya look good in orange, Lu!
no subject
she sighs.]
Well, better to test that theory now than at the school event...

Here's a tip: if things start goin' sideways, do that again! It'll dazzle them and they'll forget what's even gone wrong in the first place!
