[ He's noticed she hasn't been on the schedule, but he's not going to bring that up here. Not when there were vultures around. ]

I'm not too far away. [ He finally removes his arm from her shoulder. ] Are you hungry? I could make lunch...

[that offer seems to snap some of her proper sense into her, and once his arm is away, she straightens up.]

Only if you were meaning to fix it for yourself. I won't impose.

I assure you that you'd never impose. [ They're friends, after all. ] I found a local market close by that sells sushi-grade fish. Have you had it before?

[ Might as well make small talk as he motions for her to follow him to the bus stop. He'll just come back for his bike later. He hopes. ]

The...oh, the fish slices on rice? Right? Yes, I've had that before. It's good. [she thinks so? she's pretty sure. sushi happened when Owain threw parties and bought every snack tray imaginable, so she's pretty sure that was part of it.

she blinks, looking about as they settle at the bus stop, trying to get her bearings. she's not familiar enough with Heropa to know where she's at from this direction.]

[ Trying to find hobbies he likes, more like it. It's been an adventure to relearn certain aspects of himself. ]

What brings you to Heropa?

Well, I...I wasn't on duty today, so-- [she cuts herself off while they climb aboard the just-arrived bus, scooting into a seat by the window and waiting for him to settle beside her before finishing her reply.]

So I thought, maybe, I would try to see something different? It's hard to find things to do by myself at the house. I've never been one for books or television... I suppose that's strange, isn't it.

Not at all. Finding things to do can be difficult. I can relate a little. [ He admits, leaning back against the bus seat. ] My hobbies revolved around the adults I was trying to impress. I often found myself trying to prove I was more mature than I was, or that we had similar interests despite being a high school student.

[ He rarely spoke about himself, at least not since his first day at Aegis. He often wondered if they were okay letting him work alongside them with his... history of murder, but he's grateful for it. ]

I'm trying to learn what I enjoy doing. This week is cooking.

[she gives him a curious, thoughtful look at that. trying to impress people...she doesn't really think on herself in that way, but maybe, somehow, she can relate? having to rush to grow up and be a warrior so fast isn't so dissimilar, and even now it's had the effect of impressing the urgency to do more, be more...

...and Ash probably saw that, deciding to put her on a temporary leave in this trying time.]

What else have you tried? Has anything else stuck? [maybe he has some ideas she can borrow for herself...]

[ It's a small list but, he realizes as he rubs his fingers across this bottom lip in thought. ]

Gardening was the first thing. I bought a bonsai plant from a local market and it's a little out of control now. I have a window sill garden box in my room with herbs growing in it. [ He hasn't told Haru yet. ] Lets see... I purchased a bicycle. I've been riding it through the city and the park near the apartment.

That's what has stuck so far.

[she smiles faintly, a bit pained. gardening, huh? after he'd helped her get those petunias planted in her yard, they've...well. they've struggled, suffice to say. she's not always the best with remembering to water them.

still, she's impressed. and a little proud? proud that the trust she's put in him seems to be paying off...she trusted that he was true to his word, trying to better himself, rather than wallow in the murky despair his awful past had brought him in.

if only everyone could be so dedicated and lucky to have the chance.]

I'm impressed, Goro... I'm glad you've found some things for your own. There's always room to grow more, but, even just a little bit... [it might be more than she's done outside of Aegis!]

I'm trying. I've never wanted for things before. My apartment previously was... sparse. I never owned much. [ He glances out the window briefly, making sure they haven't passed the stop yet. ] I'm sure you will find something too.

I have a project I've been working on with the local police department. I've yet to pass it to Jacob to look over but... it's been occupying my time lately and I am hoping Captain Kenda will be behind it. It's why my cooking adventure this week has been a bit of a failure.

[ He rubs the back of his head a little sheepish. He has cooked exactly one meal this week. ]

Eh? [her eyebrows lift.] What sort of project? Is it something you could use help with? [it might not be in the spirit of time off to jump into another heavy project, but Lucina is Lucina.

before he can answer, she holds up her hand.] Wait, don't speak of it now! Once we're out of the public. Just in case. Yes?

Of course. Our stop is next. I'll tell you once we're inside. I think you might be able to help me out.

[ He offers her a kind smile. ]

I'm glad we ran into each other. I've not really had a lot of people to bounce ideas off of in regards to this.

A good stroke of fate, then. [a rarity of late. she'll take it. she climbs out of the seat at their stop, waiting for him before letting him once again take the lead down the sidewalk.]

It doesn't have anything to do with those awful creatures that have been sighted in De Chima, does it?

No it doesn't. [ He admits as he steps off the bus. ] There's been talk at the precinct on if they are going to send aid to De Chima or if they will let the imPorts handle them.

[ Goro doesn't blame them for not wanting to sacrifice their own men when there were those with super powers ready to defend. Despite the animosity at times, they know when they need to step back and let them work. ]

Though, I think you will approve of it all the same.

Oh? [her especially? or just in general? she tilts her head a bit.] I’m more curious than ever now. [so walk faster!]

[ He can't help but laugh a bit, picking up some pace to hopefully satisfy her curiosity. ]

I'll tell you over lunch, I promise. [ He motions for her to make a right turn at the corner, gesturing to the government housing. ]

Oh-! You're in the same neighborhood as Darin and Allura. How nice. [she needs to be more aware of where people are, she realizes, tilting her head up as they draw up to the house.] Who else do you stay with? Do you like them?

I had no idea. I should reach out to them again. It was nice working with them on the park.

[ Which was so long ago now that he thinks about it. When she asks who else he stays with? He genuinely smiles. ]

Oh, I live with Haru Okumura and Futaba Sakura. They're both from my universe. [ Goro tries everything in his power to school his expression when he talks about Haru. ]

Futaba is my half sister, [ Which is. New. ] and Haru is a good friend of mine. We're a lot closer now that we were back home.

[ Oh but the fond way he says her name - it takes so much to keep it out of his voice when he talks about her, even as he digs his keys out of his pocket. RIP Goro Akechi. ]

I believe we also room with Tim Drake but I have not met him personally.

[isn't it fortunate that he's with someone not very tuned into those kinds of fumbles? what a generous, oblivious princess Lucina is. she's only making a thoughtful sound regarding the last bit.]

That name isn't familiar to me. I suppose he's the sort to keep well enough to himself. But if he's not causing trouble, that's fine, isn't it? And it's good that you've got some from your own world-- and family, at that. It's rare.

[and painfully short-lived, in her experience.]

We didn't know we were family until we were here. [ He admits, unlocking the door to the apartment. ] Futaba suffered blood loss during a raid on an OTO facility. We happen to share the same rare blood-type -- which between you and me, is rather significant due to how close in proximity we were among our friends group.

[this gives her pause as she's slipping her shoes off at the door.]

Was it recent? That raid. In tandem with Aegis?

Oh? Oh no. No it was ...actually about two years ago. It was the raid on Heaven Scent. That was an OTO facility, wasn't it?

[ Had it really been two years? He thinks about this as he absentmindedly toes off his shoes. ]

I don't know if Futaba was part of the more recent one. Most of what we were doing then was trying to take down Constellation and prove that Dooku wasn't who he claimed to be.

...Ah.

[then it was before she had been involved. the OTO has been a threat for much longer than she'd been here. it makes sense.

she hesitates in the foyer, awaiting his invitation to follow.]

And now they are gone. Or at least, less a threat than the OTO is now.
