Sister to sister, heart to heart...
WHO: Anna and Elsa
WHERE: Anna's house (#001)
WHEN: After Elsa returns from her trip to Norway
WHAT: Big sister brought Anna a souvenir. Anna wanted to see her in person.
WARNINGS: Angst
Once Anna hung up with Elsa, she got permission to leave work early. She raced home, fast as she could. The suggestion that she needed to clean up wasn't truthful but she figured a few efforts to make it seem honest couldn't hurt. Really, whatever it took to guarantee Elsa stopping by. Anna hadn't seen her sister in months and that had felt far too long. It reminded her of their estrangement before arriving in this world. Such memories were painful and Anna couldn't help wanting for more. Her heart was already frozen, what more damage could be done?
So Anna waited, trying her best to not appear overly excited when Elsa arrived. She pulled the door open with a smile, trying not to actually squeal. In spite of herself, Anna reached out to hug Elsa, wanting terribly to show her sister just how much she cared.
"Welcome back!"

"Welcome back!"

She's been practicing her powers with Mr. Wright, and had gotten more practice in the mountains during her trip (the local news reported a strange ice house suddenly appearing and wondered if it was the work of a local ice sculptor, but otherwise she had kept her practices well hidden). She could handle a short visit.
But she should have known Anna would be so enthusiastic. She feels terrible as she sidesteps the hug, holding out the gifts for Anna's hands to take instead. She can't quite bring herself to look at her sister, seeing her for the first time in the flesh since she arrived, since she learned the terrible truth.
"Thank you. These are for you."

Taking the boxes, Anna tucked them under an arm and backed into her house to welcome Elsa in. The presents were exciting, surely, but her sister being there was far more so. Once they were inside, Anna led Elsa to a modest sitting room. It was well appointed and rather tidy, though it wasn't clear if that was thanks to Anna's efforts, her housemates, or some combination of the two.
Helping herself to a seat, and letting Elsa choose whether she'd sit beside her or in a chair a few feet off, Anna set the gifts on the coffee table and grinned across at her sister.
"Tell me all about it! Was it like home? Some people here told me that there are still old castles in Europe and other parts of the world. Did you find anything like ours?"
no subject
She sits down in the chair like Anna most likely expected, her gloved hands folded in her lap. She smiles at the memory of her travels when Anna begins her deluge of questions.
"It was so much like home. The fjords were lovely this time of year, and the people were very friendly. It's much more modern now, but not as much as it is here in Florida, it seemed like."
Her smile turns a little conspiratorial and cocky when she adds, "I saw a castle, but ours puts it to shame, I think."

Leaning forward, the younger sister set her chin in her hands and listened. Her eyes glittered at the descriptions of Norway.
"Oooh it sounds lovely. At least, lovely enough that it's better than here."
Anna liked Florida well enough but she missed home.
"Nothing could be as beautiful as Arendelle," Anna agreed, grinning broadly. "Had the best Princess and Queen too."
no subject
"The best princess," she agrees, pointedly leaving herself out, then changes the topic before more attention can be drawn to it, or so she hopes.
"How have you been, Anna?"
no subject
At that question she could respond happily. Hans was gone and Kristoff had yet to go missing. She was making friends and doing well at work. Anna always missed Elsa but she wouldn't be mentioning that just yet.
"Okay. My job is going good. I made a new friend too and she's going to teach me 'teenager stuff' next time I get to see her. Her name is Minako and she's from modern day though not from this world. I also made friends with a girl named Winry? She's great."
no subject
But Winry... there's a name that rings a bell.
"I met Winry, at the shuttle launch. She's very nice."
no subject
Anna shrugged. There was so much about modern life she didn't totally understand. She was willing to learn though, that much was evident by the enthusiastic smile she had explaining it all.
"She's lovely. Her world isn't like this future one, though not quite like ours either."
no subject
Elsa is still thinking on the "normal teenager" thing. It's true that neither of them had a normal upbringing, between Elsa's isolation and the whole "royalty" thing, but she still doesn't know what all there must be involved.
"Maybe you'll just go shopping and talk about boys." She thinks she saw something like that on TV the other day.
no subject
At the mention of boys, Anna flushes and glances to the side. Not only is her track record utterly abysmal, and she doesn't know just how much of the details regarding Hans Elsa now knows, but. Well.
There might be someone else she likes. And that's super awkward and could it be? Anna might actually be just a little shy about it.
"She talks a lot. More than me even, can you believe that?"
Not a smooth subject change. Not at all Princess Pink Cheeks.
no subject
She doesn't have as much to object to this time around. They've known each other longer this time, and no one is bringing their gaggle of brothers over to visit. As long as she's right about who she thinks it is.
But she graciously lets Anna have change that subject.
"That is hard to believe." Sometimes she can sass. "But at least you shouldn't run out of things to talk about."
no subject
"Hah! I suppose not. Anyways, there is just so much more to this world to learn. Every time I feel like I get a step or two ahead, a infinite world of possibilities makes itself known."
And, given how little Anna knew about their own world back in Arendelle, beyond what could be read in books, the modern world was unending by comparison.
"You could come out with us sometime, you know. If you wanted?"
no subject
She still wanted to see it though.
But Anna's proposal distracts her from such thoughts. Her smile falls a little and she glances down at her lap.
"...I'll think about it."
At least it's not an outright refusal. She's gone out a little with other people, so maybe it will be fine?
She's not sure. Other people can't get her worked up the way Anna can.
Also see this one wrapping soon. They're doing that thing where Elsa toootally wants to peace out.
It was sad, really, just how much even the slightest, faintest hope would send the younger Arendelle girl's heart soaring. Some part of her still remembered their childhood and hoped it could be that way again. Anna didn't expect it ever would but. Well. That's what hope is all about. The slim chance things could get better.
Taking a deep breath, Anna tried to suppress her typical excited babbling. She didn't want to scare her sister off and that seemed to be a theme between them lately.
"You just. Think about it. Yeah. And then we can talk again about it."
haha yeah, they've hit that point
She glances around the room, then stands up.
"Well, it's getting late, and I should go."
It's really not getting late, but the conversation has taken a turn that has Elsa wanting to run. She hates that she's this way, because she doesn't want to disappoint Anna, but can't put her in danger anyway.
"It was nice, seeing you today."
She starts to back towards the door.
