WHO: Luke and some people that fly around in lions
WHERE: Heropa beach
WHEN: Early January
WHAT: Luke's been bumming on the beach since the housing mix up happened. Lance finds him while doing Lance things and brings him home like a pet.
WARNINGS: idk Keith kind of wants to stab him. Coin flip on if he succeeds.
Luke had found himself increasingly at a loss for what to do with himself since the moment he came back.
First, he didn't know how to handle being back a year later when only a week had passed by here, saddled with new knowledge of himself that conflicted with what he learned while in this place. It was a constant struggle trying to face his friends and family, knowing that he either already let them all down, or would some time in the not so distant future, and there was absolutely nothing he could do to change it. Then that mysterious new town showed up, the scarab issue on the moon, and now the government had to throw a housing shuffle at all of them to make matters even more unsettled than they were already.
Luke really didn't know where he was going to go, so he did the only thing he could think to do: pack up the few clothes and belongings he had collected over his year here and head to the beach. It was practically empty this time of year, and it would give him the peace and quiet he needed to meditate. And so he did, on and off through the days that followed, using the Force to make himself elusive when there were people around, especially when it came to people that could arrest him for loitering.
So he would sit out in the sand, calling out to the Force when he would settle down and meditate, ignoring the slight chill in the air as he sought some kind of guidance, just anything to help right now. There were times it was hard for him to tell how long he would sit there, cross-legged and breathing slowly. One day, however, it felt like only seconds before he became aware of a faint beeping noise. There wasn't a sense of danger accompanying it, so he pushed it to the back of his mind. Unfortunately, the beeping started to increase in pitch and intensity until he felt something THUNK loudly against his right hand.
Luke opened his eyes, staring down at his hand, seeing some kind of... rod-like thing stuck to it. He followed the line of the rod up, blinking at the person on the other side of it in confusion.
"Oh... hello," he said, like this was completely normal.

Hobbies like combing the beach with a metal detector for other people's trash and, in rare cases, unlikely treasures. The fact that he currently found an actual real-live person at the other end of his detector right now might have something to do with the fact he was jamming to some local music and completely zoning out.
Oops.
"Oh uh...hey?" He should probably move that metal detector away from what was obviously some kind of prosthetic.

"It's fine," he replied finally. "No harm done."

"Still...Sorry." He apologizes before offering a hand. "I'm uh...Lance. I didn't expect to find anyone lounging on the beach..."

"Luke, and it's no trouble; I was just meditating, trying to find a path forward," he explained. "I didn't think anyone else was out here right now, otherwise I would have picked a different spot."
In The Beachhouse
When Lance came in she spared a quick glance at the door, only seeing the other paladin before she turned her attention back to her work. After a moment she spat out the screwdriver and lifted the pyramid shaped drone so it was easy to see by whoever was at the door.
"Rover 2.0. What do you think?"

"This is... really impressive, considering the technology on this planet," he murmured softly, trying very hard to resist the urge to pop it open and see what was inside.

"Quiznak! Where the heck did you come from?" Pidge stared at the unexpected person, obviously trying to figure out if she'd seen this person around before.
no subject
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he replied. "Lance invited me to stay here."
no subject
"I'm Pidge."
no subject
"Luke," he replied. "Nice to meet you."
He peered down at the drone, as well as the circuit boards, his curiosity gnawing at the back of his mind. It was a moment before he finally gave in, leaning over to get a closer look.
"This is mobile, right?" he asked. "What are you using to accomplish that?"
no subject
"Yeah! Assuming he works correctly, he should be able to hover pretty well. I found a shop that had pretty advanced components. They aren't quite the same as what I'm used to, but it looks like it should work."
Pidge paused for a moment before continuing.
"And if he can't fly like his predecessor because of the technology I'll just build him wheels."

She turned towards Luke as she points out what she's been working on and just misses smacking her arm into the plant on the table as she grabs a circuit board.

"I'm not sure if this will work..." he murmured faintly, angling it to get a better look. "This might not have enough power to generate enough lift."

Pidge grabs Rover's body back as an idea comes to her, the code running through her head as she leans back to plug him into her computer. Her arm brushes the table plant as she moves and will a flash the plant disappears and Rover lights up. A wiggle has Rover freeing himself from Pidge's grip and he dashes back and forth across the living room before settling for hovering just outside Pidge's reach.
"Oh. Oh! I forgot about that!"

Of course, what happened next wasn't the least bit expected, and Luke couldn't help but jump back as the small droid went zipping around the room. He ended up sitting back and staring at it, giving the droid a small wave and trying to determine if he was doing that and didn't know it.
"What happened?"

Oh man, this is so cool! Why did I forget about this? I could have been making so many things even with how outdated the tech here is."
Pidge lights up as she speaks and as ideas flood her mind. She can so totally use this.

He sat back after a moment, offering the little guy a small smile. "Hello."
