WHO: Loki & cosmetic party attendees
WHERE: Loki's loft in Maurtia Falls, PA
WHEN: Afternoon of 8/10
WHAT: Cosmetics and party party party party. Free manicures, box wine, and goodie bags.
WARNINGS: Possible underage drinking and rude humor with cosmetic pencils all over Gabriel's face.
[ Loki goes through his mental list for a good measure, making a check mark with his finger in the air. ]
Inventory, check. Enticing hors d'oeuvres, check. Terrible box wine of questionable origin, check.
[ not that he was going to go out on a limb to get anything too expensive for this little get together, if it was one thing he knew about the word "party" it was either that everyone would find something better to do on a Sunday evening (in which case more wine for them), or everyone's friend of a friend would be showing up. best to play good host when business was on the line. ]
Plenty of tissues and balls of cotton.
[ he hangs his arms loosely around his waist, looking over the spread.
there was a variety of cosmetics, ranging from liquid eyeliners in a variety of bright to fancy smancy manicure sets. (and his own that he had gently lifted from the inventory that obviously no one would ever miss.) there were a few requests that he made sure to comply with (pastel nail colors for Sansa) as well as those that he knew would pique interest (various shades of purple and green). because of the possible culture gap for those that had wanted to attend, he made sure to include a few basics that would be easier to apply (powder compacts with fluffy appliers and some lip glosses that weren't in need of liners, but were still trendy).
he heads to the door for the first string of arrivals and greets them with a "hello" and a fingery wave of his hand before being whisked into his apartment.
it's a small single room loft, dimly lit. where Loki had sacrificed space he made up in style. it was all old world brick, with a widow that took up the entire west wall. they were high enough to get a good view. there's a few pieces of furniture (including a very bright victorian love seat), the kitchen is sectioned off by the island, which is covered in snacks (he definitely cooked some of them) and a few boxes of blush wine and plastic wine glasses.
there's no television. just piles of books, and he's cleaned those up admirably; usually the place was covered in stacks of read and those partially read. he's managed to shelf all of his questionable acquired young adult novels and magical tomes back on the bookshelf beneath the loft that holds his bed. for those who were paying attention to that sort of thing, anyway. ]
Make yourselves comfortable.
NOTE | from this post! Please feel to show up, bring friends, or handwave RSVP! Unless you're Norman Osborn then you are not invited. everyone will get goodie bags with a few trial size items and Loki's business card.

[It's an offer that Kate is willing to make to just about anyone. She's there very early on—possibly from the very beginning—and it doesn't take her long to find a glass of wine and a spot on the Victorian love seat. Of course, she doesn't stay there. Although Kate did quite a bit of socializing the night before, she doesn't seem daunted by the fact of being here now, and doing much of the same.
Why would she be?
She flutters around the tiny loft greeting people and suggesting colors; surprisingly enough, she does consider colors that aren't necessarily purple for other people. (Though she doesn't refrain from suggesting it if someone really would do well in purple ... and why would she?
The important thing is that she's clearly here for the company and not the makeup. Once a Sephora girl, always a Sephora girl, even if Sephora has a different brand identity here.]

She arrives just after the time the party is supposed to start, not too late, but just enough to be fashionable, dressed in a black polka dot dress and black hat. She had a big smile on her face, eyes sparkling as she practically burst in the door to greet Loki standing there.
A glass of wine in one hand, Minako is excited to look at the cosmetics, selecting a few in interesting colors which definitely don't match any kind of color palette known to mankind but she still turns to someone with a smile, looking over at what they have.] What do you think of these colors? There are just so many things to choose from!

She's still a little self-conscious about it, though, so she tries to stick to browsing neutral, natural shades... But, she keeps coming back to a specific baby pink lipstick that she's sure would look absolutely ridiculous on a woman her age... But, gosh, it is really lovely...
Of course, while all of this soul searching is going on, she's just standing there in the middle of the fucking room like a weirdo, staring blankly at the tube of lipstick in her hand.]

he doesn't really exchange words, but the intent is clear. if she looks back at him he'll tip his head to the side, raising his eyebrows like "why not?"
being the general god of defiance lent to some questionable decisions, but it's not like anyone beyond this room would see it if it turned out appalling, and hopefully everyone would be all too tipsy to notice. it was the point. ]

With the business part of the evening taken care of, she poured herself a glass of wine, and winced visibly at the first sip. She hadn't planned to drink much of it -- better to keep a glass in hand so no one would pester her about it, but to avoid intoxication and stay alert for trouble -- but this might have put her off drinking even if she had planned to become inebriated tonight. ]
Interesting.

[ despite what she had been through not mere weeks before, she seemed in rude health. of course, there was something to say about people who became used to the acquired taste of the supernatural. the omniverse needed all kinds.
he drops a sample of blush on the loveseat beside her and lifts a brow. ]
I thought it might match, but you might need more wine before you make the crucial decision.
[ he seems casual and relaxed enough. ]
no subject
So, glass of wine in hand, she spends most of her time inspecting the cosmetics. She experiments with the different shades of eyeliner and shadows, putting some on her hands and others actually properly on her face. Clara's no expert but she knows her way around a makeup kit]

Ooooo.
[True to her word, Yang shows up in full on party-and-makeup mode, looking trendy as anything in shorts, a long, artfully-ripped white shirt, vest and ankle boots, as well as her requisite thigh-highs. She's either poring over the eyeliners, considering snagging one for Blake (homegirl's liner game was sharp as hell) or picking up the nail polishes, looking for a yellow or orange that suits her tastes.]
What have we here...?
[Option B]
[Someone may or may not have just taken a sip of the wine and decided to reconsider that decision with a look of mild distaste on her face.]
Okay, bad life choice for the evening, check.
[She makes her way toward the island for something to snack on to hopefully get that taste out of her mouth, worrying idly at a few strands of long, golden hair over her shoulder. Someone should probably make sure she doesn't snag up too many of the snacks.]
b
[ he leans up with his back against the island, and it's suspiciously close to the time her hand begins its journey to snag its first snack. it's essential to play good host, even at the most inconvenient of times.
there was never just one reason for him to do anything, after all. ]

She's been in a few make-up stores since her arrival, so the display that Loki has set up isn't quite as overwhelming as it may have been otherwise. She was no stranger to cosmetics, but some of the items were still a mystery to her-- not to mention the neon glitter eyeshadows. She helps herself to some of the snacks while eyeing the products, though she also finds herself glancing over the books that Loki hasn't hidden away, and engaging in some subtle people-watching.
Eventually, she sets her glass down and picks up some mascara, looking quite curious as she inspects the wand as though attempting to decipher its mysteries. ]

[Yang pipes up helpfully from where she's perusing some eyeshadow, trying her best not to be too intimidating. Though it probably doesn't help that she more or less looks like the embodiment of those trendy girls they use to market these kinds of things.
She considers the other girl critically, a finger tapping her chin, and then raises her hands as if setting a frame around her face.]

Right now he's trying on a pretty striking shade of blue eyeshadow, which if you look hard enough you might notice it matches the feathery material lining the top of his jacket.

[Amazingly, the feathers remind her to leave off the '-chan' that reflexively springs to her lips. Couture fashion is adult and mature and—probably not evil. He pulls it off better than Ryuuko and Satsuki's mom's clown gown, at least.

His plan had been to show up early, wheedle a few samples out of Loki for testing (Green Goblin-y shenanigans, not advertised effectiveness; even if Peter were looking for a new beauty regimen he wouldn't buy products from the man who once drugged his toothpaste), and make a quick exit with dignity mostly intact.
One armored car heist later and that's no longer an option. With an internal sigh, he takes a moment at the window to survey the scene indoors and get his bearings before scuttling through. At least there aren't that many people he knows. And the gender balance is better than the tupperware parties he remembers getting dragged to in his youth, so at least he won't stand out like a sore th-- oh, who is he kidding.]

So, wine glass in hand for pretty much the whole party, Dorian looks through the foundation, ostensibly to smooth out his complexion but lol to him, his complexion is already perfect, so it's mostly Dorian looking through the foundation and moisturizer as an excuse. ]

Loki's a good host—but that's not so surprising with the name "Loki," he was made for this kind of social mingle, after all. he makes sure that everyone is comfortable enough to speak before he gives his attention to the more social attendees that had already made themselves comfortable, Dorian included. ]

it's hard to find shades that go well with both brown and grey, something she can wear in any situation, but it would be a waste not to try. she picks up is a pale pink, screwing up her lips as she contemplates it, while sloshing a glass full of something that is not wine in the other. putting it down, she picks up an orange. she'll probably end up buying it for rose, but can't see it looking anything but terrible on herself. ]
