[ closed ] are there songs about thanksgiving?
WHO: Base One inhabitants and the visitors they invited
WHERE: Base One, outside Nonah
WHEN: Forward dated to Thanksgiving
WHAT: What it says on the box
WARNINGS: Who knows but with some star wars involved, anything is possible. Warn for content in threads accordingly, if necessary and I'll update if needed.
[ it's a simple affair, Thanksgiving between friends. But it so happens that the hosts of the whole affair have never put on a Traditional American Thanksgiving. So maybe prep is harder than Bodhi thought it would be -- there's so much cooking! How do you stuff a turkey? Why do you need two different types of potatoes? And maybe someone got a little intense when it comes to decoration (but in his defense, holiday decorating shows make an interesting watch when it's 2 AM and you can't sleep). And on top of that, it's been a long year for them - and most of the guests have never really had this kind of celebration before - they deserve to have fun and eat (hopefully) good food and not worry about things for a while.
Ahem.
Base One is decorated by a string of lights outside, hung among the trees over a long bench that looks like could sit about twenty people or so (plus a few extra chairs). Each place setting is simple. Two outdoor firepits on either side of the table are lit and radiate heat into the chilly autumn afternoon air. Some light music wafts from the speakers from the roof. You know what else is wafting for all to smell? The food, and there is a lot of it. Pies, turkey, stuffing, potatoes - you name it (just ignore that lingering smell of something burning, the likes of which are nowhere to be found - it's just your imagination, honestly).
Lots of need for help, too - so if you're here early, you might get roped into helping - whether it be getting utensils and cups on the table, popping something into the microwave, taking something out of the oven, etc, etc... Guests are encouraged (but not required) to have brought something, so the meal is likely to be a mix of Traditional and some more interesting dishes.
After things are all said and done, food has been had - there's gonna be a lot to do - so you're welcome to help with the clean up. Or you can find a sofa in an inside unit to crash in. Or brave the climb up the ladder to the roof and sit up there and relax while you digest.
So relax, pull up a chair, eat some food, mingle and have fun.
and behave (looking at u, Star Wars folks). ]
