WHO: Kanan Jarrus and Obi-Wan Kenobi, maybe Hera at some point???
WHERE: Kanan's place in Heropa
WHEN: Uhhh whatever day Obi-Wan resurrected
WHAT: Obi needs a place to stay for a bit while he recovers, womp womp.
WARNINGS: maybe like talk about Obi's horrific death???
Kanan is aware of Obi-Wan's death - it's difficult not to be, between Anakin's and Cad Bane's reactions. He'd like to stay out of it, for the most part, but he also wants to be there for Ahsoka and Obi-Wan if they need him, so he and Hera come back to town as soon as they hear about it.
And then, it's really just a matter of waiting. There's not much else Kanan can do. Anakin's temper tantrum disgusted him, but the guy has no reason to listen to him. Cad Bane was just as disgusting, but he was obviously wanting to draw attention to himself, and Kanan isn't interested in playing that game.
So he waits.

Oddly enough, the man wasn’t dressed in his usual Jedi robes. Instead he wore casual civilian attire. A shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a light jacket. Not only that, but he looked... troubled. His arms hugging himself, and a look of confusion and distress on his face. He was clearly trying to hold himself together, but was definitely not okay.
This man has had a rough time of it to be sure.

"Master Kenobi," he says, waving him inside. "You're back. A lot of people are worried about you."
no subject
“Thank you,”he said softly, and paused to consider Kanan's words. He was not surprised, but he did have to wonder.
“How long has it been?”
no subject
"A few days? Maybe three," he says quietly. "Are you hungry? Thirsty? I've got caf or tea..."
There's just something off about him - not that Kanan expected him to be completely back to himself after such an experience, but this is worrying.
no subject
“Tea please, if that wouldn’t be too much trouble.”
He looked around, before finding himself a place to sit.
“I don’t wish to be a bother, but I need your help, Kanan.”
no subject
"Whatever you need help with, consider it done," he adds firmly. As if he even needs to ask - it's no less than Kanan would do for any of his fellow Jedi.
no subject
“The Force has left me, Kanan. I can not even feel it. I was told that our powers leave us temporarily when we come back from death, but I don’t know when It will return. Without the Force or my lightsaber, I’m nearly defenseless.”
He could defend himself with other means, but without the Force, he felt crippled.
“Not only that, but I don’t know what happened to me.”
no subject
"That's - I can't even imagine. Of course, you can stay here as long as you need. I know Cad Bane was gloating on the network about having your lightsaber - I'm not sure if he still has it, though. He was obviously trying to cause trouble and provoke the people who care about you, I don't know if he had anything to do with - whatever happened."
He pauses. "What's the last thing you remember?"
no subject
“Thank you. I... think I will.”
He wasn’t sure it was best to go home. Not quite yet anyway. Though he certainly didn’t want others to continue worrying about him.
“Was he?” Obi-Wan looked thoughtful at that. “Cad Bane is a bounty hunter. He typically doesn’t do anything unless he’s being paid to do so.”
He knew the bounty hunter well, and his involvement is... suspicious.
“I was walking to work actually. Then the next thing I remember was waking up much like I did when I arrived. The porter brought me back apparently. I was told that only happens when a body is completely destroyed.”
no subject
"Bane's gloating felt really suspicious to me. It wouldn't surprise me if someone paid him to do it. Someone powerful enough to - wipe your memories of the event? Or is forgetting the whole thing a common occurrence?"
no subject
He then finally took a moment to sip at his tea. Finding a modicum of comfort in the warm beverage.
“I don’t even know who would want me dead aside from certain individuals from our galaxy. But I don’t think they would even dare. They would know they would be suspected first.”
no subject
"Dooku is the first to come to mind, but I wouldn't have expected him to do something so obvious. Unless Grievous for some reason decided to act on his own."
He rests his elbows on his knees, considering.
"What about your work? Were you working on anything that might've had someone coming after you?"
no subject
“I don’t believe so.”
Except he was, but Dooku had erased his memory of that as well.
“There is no explanation I can think of. I’m at a loss.”
no subject
He takes another sip of his tea. "You going to contact anyone else yet? I think Anakin was about to cause some property damage."
He tries to keep the disapproval out of his voice. It's really appalling to Kanan, to see someone he once so admired acting like... well, as un-Jedi-like as all that.
no subject
“If he intended to I’m certain he already has by now, and I’m not certain I could stop him anyway. But... yes, I will say something.”
He sounded exhausted by the idea. In fact, he may wait a couple days to build up to mental fortitude before doing so.
no subject
Which, is generally a good thing, even if Kanan is disapproving of how some of them reacted to all of this. Especially the ones calling themselves Skywalkers.
no subject
"And I care for them, which is why I wish I could give better answers to all the suffering that has come about from this."
Making this he cared about worry so much was not something he ever wanted or intended. But circumstances were out of his control this time.
no subject
"We'll figure it out, one way or another. If nothing else, maybe once you have your abilities back you can go back and retrace your steps to jog your memory. Or - maybe someone has an ability that could do it."
He's just spitballing at this point.
no subject
"As the Force wills it, an opportunity will present itself."
He believed that, he had to. That's really all he had at this point.
no subject
That's just - not how the Force works, though a younger version of himself might have disagreed with that.
