WHERE: Heropa. The club, the nightlife & early morning breakfast to nurse some possible hangovers.
WHEN: Wednesday night, for people who want to be wiped the next day.
WHAT: Clubbing, dancing, drama, being young, dropping the mic, pancakes at 4 a.m., bringing back the night.
WARNINGS: Club is 18+, bar is 21+ (don't let that stop you, defy the establishment!!) Probably some underage drinking and some swearing AND LOADS OF FUN. This space reserves to be edited depending on content.



7:00—9:00 PM | get in losers

[ the park: the pre-arranged meeting place. true to florida's reputation, it's a proper hot summer evening, though past sundown it's cooled to a somewhat more tolerable temperature. still, maybe leave your jacket at home.

by now it's dark enough to be fully nighttime, but the park is well lit enough that it's not much of a problem. there's still a few people milling about, either with a destination in mind or just talking a walk, but on the whole there is plenty of space for a bunch of disorganized young adults to gather and attempt to get their plans in order. ]

10-ISH PM—??? | turning that dubstep up to 11

[ the entrance was a discrete basement door painted dark red. there’s a doorman wearing a pair of “deal with it” sunglasses at the bottom of the stairs, and he tips them down to take a look at the imPort group and waves them in without trouble. having a group of imPorts in their club was was draw enough to gain new patronage. (so much for the ID check.)

some were familiar with the atmosphere, and some weren’t. it was like the vintage lounge somehow crash-landed into the world of electro house. whatever this was it managed to find itself almost packed to the brim, even in the middle of the week. between the loud hammer of the dubstep and mill of bodies on the mirrored tile of the dance floor, it was like walking through a fog that dulled all of the least important senses. it was part of the overstimulation.

the dance floor is packed, and there’s a mingle of bodies in an ostentatious array of glitter, colorful fedoras and flower crowns. they’re all dancing to the music, hands raised high as though they’re reaching for the single, faux crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

it was two stories, and the ceiling above the dance floor high. the DJ’s was at the far end of the room in a raised booth above the partygoers, mixing both records and an eclectic mix of dance music that shook the foundation. the floors and walls were solid concrete, held by steel beams that no one bothered to make any more presentable. nestled in the walls around the dance floor were booths with red leather covered seats, complete with silver studs. the leather was cracked, worn and generally uncomfortable. they were large enough to fit a healthy number of people, depending on how willing they were to get close to each other. at the center of each unstained, raw wood table was a candle that flickered in time with the music.

around each wall there’s a staircase lined with a vintage handrails. they’re so old that the gold is tarnished and some of the spokes are conspicuously missing. up on the balcony it’s quieter, the music a little more dulled by design. there’s sparse seating, but it seems to be where most people go to have both their hot make-outs and heart wrenching break-ups.

the bar is bustling with people, three bartenders serving a range of classic cocktails, including martinis (with gin and olives), Manhattans, High Balls, and straight-up hard liquor. (unfortunate for those who are underage, you’re in need of a wristband—but your of-age companions may be willing to spot you.)

4:00 AM | the prescription for any hangover is pancakes

[ dawn has broken: the fun is over. some partygoers have likely slunk back to their homes to pass out, but for those who are too buzzed to give it up yet or just need to unwind, or those who need a somewhere to come down from a near-miss with the popo, some remaining stragglers have elected to partake of the all-important post-club tradition: extremely early morning breakfast.

and so everyone crowds woozily into lenny's, which is pretty much the only place that's even open this hour. the booths are lumpy, the waitresses are impatient, and the food is your typical bland all-american diner variety, but it's cheap and it's there and there's coffee for the still inebriated.

it is a breakfast of broken hearts and regrets. ]

[ the choice is easy for him: it's the club he goes without complaint.

he’s good at what he does, and clubbing is one of the things that he does. Loki manages to slip in like a venomous snake in the rabbits’ den and hide among the occupants in a particularly amiable fashion (one would hardly know of his snakishness). it’s a full house, so it’s easy to go in and out of sight on will without having to rely on his jacket. he’s gone simple today, just a black tank top and a pair of jeans. (Florida was hot, and the mingling bodies on the dance floor even hotter. there was some kind of “too hot for a frost giant” wordplay to be made, and he smiles at his own private joke.) he keeps his magic boots, because you really never know when you need to scale up the side of a building on whim.

he’s found a breathing moment at the bar, but not for long. he’s already convincing one of the bartenders that he’s conveniently lost his wristband in the toilet because of a terribly convoluted story that he’s made up on the fly—and it seems to be working. ]

Your best scotch—ah, and make it on the rocks, won't you?

[ he squishes between two curiously dressed patrons at the bar to offer the bartender a charming smile. it's all well and good, and then he's suddenly glitterbombed. he's left a little oddly satisfied with a pleasantly stunned expression. ]

[ after some mingling, a few curious looks come Skye (matched by some charming smiles and shrugs from Loki), and some flawless electro mash-ups, they manage to find a nice nook on the balcony to catch a moment away from the reach of bumping shoulders with another stranger.

somewhere amid the festivities, Loki’s been glitterbombed, and he wears it shamelessly. it sticks to his shoulders and to his cheeks, even when he absently flicks at it. he brings her a colorful drink and hands it to her by the rim, taking a seat beside her and brushing his hair back so it doesn’t fall in his face. ]

Not what you expected.

[ it's more of a statement than a question. one that makes him glee a bit. ]

I don't know... I guess. I thought that clubbing was going to be like... code for something. Nope. Just clubbing. [She eyes the drink for a moment before setting it down on a table in front of them.]

What is it with Asgardians and clubbing, anyway? Does Thor do this too? Sif?

If all things are codes then codes sort of start to lose their charm. Next time I'll pointedly make up something a little more intriguing.

[ then he adds, as an afterthought: ]

[ the promise of intrigue and then there not being intrigue is totally a form of intrigue. ]

[there he is.

she'd been keeping an eye out for loki, honestly. they hadn't spoken all that much, but he certainly sounded like someone who'd be fun at a party. after all, he'd picked the club, and it was a good choice, and he was supposed to be the god of mischief, right? recipe for success if she ever heard one.

plus he'd probably be able to get her a drink, if he was old enough. she slides up next to him as inconspicuously as she can manage, which isn't very.]

Hi! [she notices his face and giggles, then gestures to her own, covered in glitter blush.] Looks like we match.

[ for a god, he blended in rather well. occasionally the depth of his presence would get him a few curious glances, but being incognito was kind of one of his things.

he has the luxury of knowing her better than she knows him, which makes the whole thing a little tipped in his advantage just the way he likes it. ]

Ah—now tell me, was this by your own hand or did you get ambushed too? [ and as an aside: ] Of course they weren't all that sneaky ... [ who didn't want to be covered in glitter? ]

10ish-until breakfast time!

[There really isn't a world where Kate was unlikely to miss this event, but the more unlikely part is where she would show up for any of the hangouts earlier in the evening. Given her tendency to take as much time as possible getting ready—when it comes to something like this, at any rate—the "hit the club around ten" schedule seems ideal. For what it's worth, she even tells Tommy to meet her at around 10:30, knowing that if she was running over in getting herself together, he might grow impatient.

She doesn't think he'd find something else to do. No, this is Tommy, but she does think that it would be rude to keep a speedster waiting. A half hour would be like two months to him, so she keeps herself considerate.

After showing up with Tommy, Kate spends much of the night active and involved. She dances, she has a few drinks, and she's conscious of her water intake ... and anyone near her. She's not wearing a wristband, so if anyone's interested in alcohol themselves, they can probably get a couple drinks from her.

There are periods in the evening where she drifts off to some part of the club alone, drink clasped in hand, and she watches the room. If anyone passes her, she'll look over at them and ask a simple question:] Are you as surprised as I am that we're able to kick back?

[She knows she's probably thinking about it too hard, but it's that time of the night. And for Kate, who hasn't slowed down since she arrived in this world, those times of the night are a little more frequent.

After all, for all the fun she's having, she feels a little guilty about kicking back herself.]

4:00-PANCAKE TIME

[Having been situated from her enjoyable highs and her overthinking lows of the evening, Kate is still way too energized to head back to her apartment. She's buzzed still, having had a couple too many drinks, but she doesn't feel sick in the slightest. She figures that the length of time they were out is mostly the cause for it, especially combined with most of her recent evenings for the past few months not involving alcohol.

(Evenings with Loki and Ryan Gosling on the screen aside, that is.)

At this point, she's sure to smile as they walk over to the pancake house, and she'll make conversation with whoever's near her ... or inside of the restaurant. For Kate, the night is still young, and it's back to the daily grind soon enough.]

[Skye's been out and about with the whole clubbing thing all evening-- danced with a few guys, danced with a few girls, it was fun. She disappeared up to a higher level overlooking the club at some point to have a chat with Loki, and afterwards she'd looked a bit put out, but she managed to get back in the swing of things eventually. Drinks had helped. She's pleasantly buzzed still, but not over-the-top. Skye knows her limits well by now. As she walks into the pancake place with the others, she turns to Kate and says:]

Man, it's been a while since I did this. I am so ready for pancakes, let me tell you-- you don't even know.

Pancakes will definitely be happening.

[There's a moment where she debates being nosy, but she decides to go with being nosy. What will it hurt? She steps closer to Skye, and ensuring that Loki's not anywhere within earshot, she asks:] Did things go poorly with my illustrious teammate?

[Skye takes a seat in a booth once they're inside, scooting over to the window so others can slide in.]

Oh-- you saw that, huh. I don't know. "Poorly" isn't the right word. He's good enough company. Just... I was after some information I thought he might have. But he didn't, so. It's fine.

Around 3 a.m.

[ he's been dancing, he's been drinking, and he's been glitterbombed twice. if it was difficult to take Loki seriously before, it's definitely difficult to do so now with messy hair and comically sparkling glitter that's sticking to his shoulders. ]

Are you kicking back?

[ there's a hint of satisfaction in his voice. ]

I hardly noticed.

[ the music has become a drum in the back of his skull, drown into the background he's been listening to it for so long. the steady vibration is easy to begin to ignore with his heightened senses, emphasizing their conversation. with him, it might be a little easier to speak (he has a few tricks up his sleeves to "make it so"). there's still the slight roar in the back of the ears that comes with the music's dumbed down. ]

Believe it or not, I have been. Who would've thought?

[Kate doesn't know if that means that Loki's kept an eye on her all evening, or if she's not been looking like she's having fun. There's a part of her that doesn't know which on is the best to go with.

After a moment, she reaches out for his head, using the glitter to help clear a spot on his face for a heart. If anything, she can be silly, and this is one way of showing it.]

Then again, you'd been busy. Very busy. Perhaps not busy enough, though?

[ it was a lighthearted tease. and he looks a little pleased as she smudges his cheek with her thumb, letting the light touch tip his head to the side. ]

A not-busy Loki is a dangerous one, hm?

[look at this, they've somehow ended up at the same table.

despite what impressions she might have given earlier, now it's been a few days since paintball and she's just had a very fun night, so as far as megan is concerned kate's just as much a friend now as anyone. she beams a genuine smile at her across the table.]

Was that the best night ever or what? [she stretches her arms above her head in enthusiasm and jostles the table in the process. she is perhaps still a little drunk.]

[The best part is that Megan is awake and not completely hammered, so they've definitely made it out of the night without too many incidents. She's relieved that things have gotten better, and Kate's fairly certain that things will be better in the future.]

As much as I have a full schedule, I'm wondering if we should make these a regular thing. At least until summer is over. [Of course, Kate would have to pad out her wardrobe for it, but she's fully prepared to do that.

More excuses to buy clothes aren't exactly a bad thing.]

[ it had felt like an eternity waiting for Kate to turn up at 10:30 - maybe exaggerating a little, a little - but, truth be told, the waiting is a good kind of anticipation. in the half hour of waiting, boredom had turned around to productivity and back around to boredom again, until the very sight of Kate Bishop was like a radiant gift for Tommy's tired old eyes.

when they arrive, well. dancing the night away is an understatement. anyone who can buy alcohol is his new best friend (and in return, he's happy to introduce anyone to the plethora of his favorite drinks).

it's not impossible for him to get tired, and every time he takes more than five seconds away from the dance floor he complains loudly about feeling exhausted, but soon after he's back out there again, dancing with strangers and meeting new people in all the various nooks and crannies the club has to offer. he's particularly interested in meeting other imPorts, though the natives don't escape his notice either.

whenever he hits the bar, he makes a point of ordering something new every time. ]

Don't you think vodka should taste-- I don't know, different? Imbued with more Soviet pride than what we're used to?

[ he doesn't sound drunk, not yet. that's a long way off. ]

Did you check to make sure they even have Russian vodka? They might not.

[While the two of them have spent aspects of the evening dancing, it's later in the night, and at this point, Kate is definitely at the bar ordering water. There's something about the coloring in her cheeks and the way she's carrying herself that says what really matters at this point: she's a little hammered. But there's always a way to recover from that.

Without waiting for his response and without waiting for her water, she steps closer to loop her arm through Tommy's.]

That would explain why the vodka and diet I had an hour ago wasn't that good.

AT THE PARK

[a few hours before they're all set to meet up, megan realizes she should have gotten some sort of head count--there's bound to be people coming she doesn't recognize, which means they won't be able to recognize her. though a girl with wings in the middle of the park certainly sticks out.

regardless, she decides the best thing to do is buy glowsticks--might come in handy at the club, anyway--and hope anybody who comes because of word-of-mouth will catch on. when the time comes, she picks a bench roughly at the center of the park and waits.

for about five minutes. then she gets bored, puts the glowsticks next to her, and proceeds to play with her phone. why just sit around and do nothing when you have other options?]

IN DA CLUB

[megan is so ready for this. she's made enough at her job by now to have been able to afford a minor shopping spree the day before--nothing too big, but can't exactly go out on the town without proper attire, can you? it's a standard skirt and boots outfit with an emphasis on cute and a just a touch of flirty, and a tasteful amount of glitter blush. plus the glowsticks.

the club is certainly impressive--well done, loki--though she's surprised how easily they all get in; she'd been prepared to use a little "suggestion" if necessary. but the armbands were a different story. looks like she'll need an accomplice for this.

well, she's already not really supposed to be here, so why bother observing the law now? there were enough people here that nobody should notice or care if she got her hands on a drink, right?]

CLUB; 10 PM - ???

[The way to "cure" a terminal case of ennui is to find something to keep your mind focused on; whether it be a book, a brisk walk outdoors, or in this case... a night in a club.

He isn't sure it was the best decision on his part, if he were to be honest with himself; it's a nice place, to be sure, bustling, trendy, a little esoteric in its own way, the floor itself thrumming with bass. It's loud, as to be expected, and he can't hear himself think (sometimes a plus, in its own right); everyone seems to be having fun or some facsimile of it. But Light, he isn't at the bar (too young), he isn't on the dance floor (too packed), he isn't milling around, talking to complete strangers (too dubious); he's seated in one of the lounge areas, dimly-lit, reclining into a sofa. An elbow leans into the arm rest while he gazes around, engaged in a healthy dose of people-watching.

The scene is interesting, but maybe -- despite his usually sociable nature -- this wasn't for him.

[On a whim, Kate had ordered two drinks of something she had earlier—a thing that was called a peach cobbler, and it was aptly named—but she hadn't decided to share the second one yet. There were a number of underage individuals in there, and while some part of her head said not to do what she's doing, she does it anyway. She's been buying drinks for people all night, and it's something that she's done with minimal hesitation.

Thus, when she spots Light and it's immediately apparent that he hasn't had a drink of his own, she approaches him and hands it to him.]

There's probably not enough in this to make it feel like you can leave here, but maybe you can pretend. [She flashes him a smile. She had seen him come in, after all, but the fact that he hasn't joined in on the festivities means it's definitely time for this.]

[He catches sight of the drink in his peripheral, looks up, and spots Kate. Blinking, he first takes the drink in hand before replying. He has to speak loud enough to be heard over the music.]

Sorry. [He gives her a sheepish grin, or at least as sheepish as one like Light Yagami can ever manage.] I'm not trying to be rude by just sitting here. I'm just -- well, I'm not used to clubs. It's loud and it's hot and everyone's kind of drunk.

[Well, not everyone. But certainly enough people are.]

That's kind of the idea of clubs. Loud and hot and everyone drunk is just a way to get dragged into all of it.

[Kate remembers her first club experience—she had gone just after turning eighteen, and at the time, it had been a little overwhelming. At first, anyway.]

The best part is that you don't have to be particularly good at dancing.

[ that was one way to stick out like a sore thumb in a club.

in the first hour Loki's managed to get glitterbombed, pulled to dance at least six or seven times, and convinced the bartender even without a wristband, that he's old enough to drink. it's been fairly productive so far, but all and all is a full night for a trickster. he's rather satisfied with himself.

he might not be dragging him out just yet, but he will flop onto the seat next to him. he's a mess, but he's oddly elegant. ]

Don't tell me you came here just to sit.

[Light immediately straightens when he feels the couch shift with the weight of someone sitting next to him. It's an automatic response; don't let someone catch you slouching forward with distinct apathy, it doesn't do well for first impressions. He looks over at Loki (who seems rather sparkly -- is that glitter?) and opens his mouth to speak. Words come out but they're muffled by loud music. Frowning, he tries again, louder.]

The chairs are here for a reason, aren't they?

[ Loki waves his hand in a dismissive gesture. and it seems innocent, but somehow the music drowns itself into the background--or maybe it was just the adjustment to the music.

(no one would notice a well-placed spell here and there.) ]

Usually reserved for exhausted dancers. Or, you know, strategically placed if you'd wish to dump someone publicly so they have a place to sit and cry. Who knows how many tears this faux leather has seen.

[ he sounds more curious than accusing. ]
