PAINTBALLING / š | |
The All Star parking garage is not particularly well-named. Although it stands prominently five stories above ground and is difficult to miss over the much squatter roofs surrounding it along the outskirts of Maurtia Falls, the place doesn't appear to have seen formal use for some time. Probably in at least as many years as the garage is old.
At the entrance, the booth windows are plastered with various posters of missing persons and pets, advertisements for local businesses and bands, and the odd wad of gum; it's obvious that it has been unmanned by a professional for years, and the gate arm hanging at half its length, probably broken long ago by some rowdy youths, helps to reinforce that appearance. Litter decorates the floor of the booth as well as the driveway and ramps in the form of blowing McDonald's burger wrappers, takeout Starbucks cups, and plastic grocery store bags, and nearly every inch of the rest of the garage itself has been covered with graffiti, besides. From the ground level to the roof various tags have been painted: walls, ceilings, floors, columns, and even numerous overflowing and empty garbage dumpsters have been vandalized. Not very all star when you think about it, right? But there's no better playing field for super-powered imPorts in a game of super-powered paintball! Before the game begins at 7 PM, Josuke and Hisoka will touch base with the players one last time to make sure everyone is familiar with the rules that were mentioned in the broadcast yesterday afternoon. Besides keeping Josuke informed of any players who are seriously hurt during the game so he can fix their injuries, there are of course only two rules that are especially emphasized:
Whoever you are, however you've decided to play, you would still do well to remember: there can only be one winner, so guard your back! And, as those who've chosen to spectate each take up their preferred vantage points offsite, as the final 60 seconds wind down and players are all rush onto the playing field in order to get into position before all hell breaks loose, as the air itself begins to feel alive with a charge that's almost electric, it'sāGAME ON! |
AFTER GAME EATS

An orange soda in one hand (cold and pressed to a lump on his cheekbone) he draws up and tries not to look...uh. Too scary. Because for as battered as he might look, he really does feel mostly fine! Mostly.]
Hey, Euphie! Help a guy out a little?
no subject
[She scurries over to him, looking quite worried.] Ah... I need to touch the affected part, if that's all right with you?
no subject
[He lowers the cup and tilts his head in her direction. Have at his lump, Euphie, he doesn't mind. Figures your prodding fingers are gonna hurt a lot less than the game did! They've gotta.]
I didn't see you out there...you take off early or something? Everything okay?
no subject
It wasn't for me, that's all. [She tries to offer him a reassuring smile.] Everyone looked like they had so much fun, though! Thank you for inviting me.
no subject
Oh, yeah?
[When she pulls her hand away from his cheek he'll touch it as if inspecting the job done before nodding and rolling up his shirt sleeve. He's got another bruise, Euphie!]
I had a lot of fun, I'm sorry it wasn't your scene though. Did you keep watch then the whole time? ...by yourself?
no subject
There's a little beading of sweat on her temple, if he's observant.] I was really quite entertained, I promise.
no subject
I'm glad!
[He has a few other bruises, but they're well-hidden and he plans to keep them that way for now as he rolls down his sleeve and beams at her.]
It was kinda crazy at points, but it seems most people really enjoyed themselves, so I'm glad we were able to do this.
[He pauses and then tilts his drink in Euphie's direction.]
You look warm! [His way of saying he's noticed she doesn't look quite as well as she might claim to feel.] Want a sip?
no subject
[She's a little surprised when he offers her the drink, but then nods, taking it with both hands.] Yes, thank you, I'd like that very much.
Do you have anything else you need me to take care of?
no subject
[Josuke also thinks that it was a healthy exercise in 'fun', much needed overall among the game-goers...and all imPorts alike. There's not a lot of those opportunities for powers to be wielded, and with such supernatural abilities being as much a part of a person as their hand or their face or...whatever. It's important not to shut away those parts and pull them out only when the going gets tough.]
I came so close to wiping out a few times...man, how embarrassing would've that been?
[He laughs and shrugs as she takes the cup, but if he's honest with himself, the only thing he'd like her to take care of now is herself. So he continues to say nothing about any other bumps he might have.]
Anyway, I think I'm pretty good now, in fact...I feel great. So great I could probably bench press a horse. Or...well, maybe not a horse but I could probably bench press anyone here right now! [Cheekily, to keep her from worrying, he adds...] Care for a lift?
[Since, you know, his hands are free now.]
no subject
Her eyes widen at his suggestion, and then she laughs, a little touch of pink on her cheeks.] I'd be really impressed! You couldn't really lift me the whole way, right?
[Since at 5'8", she's quite a tall young woman for her age.]
no subject
Alright, he has to admit, she's not exactly petite in terms of height, but her frame is delicate enough that he's still pretty sure he could lift her without any problem. Right?
...yeah.
His cup, having been drained during his contemplation, responds to his attempt at further drinking with a resounding clatter of ice and hiss of air through an empty straw. Sure works for reminding him that he actually needs to talk, that Euphie's probably not a mind reader. Or at least, he doesn't think she is.]
Okay, then let me impress. [He sets the empty soda cup down on a nearby table and grins at Euphemia.] Unless you're afraid of heights?
no subject
no subject
Suit yourself!
[That's all he'll say before he steps closer, but it's not his hands that move toward Euphie's waist, it's the hands of his Stand. For a pleasant change, Euphie might actually feel her fatigue slip away...
...as she's hoisted above Josuke's head.]
Look at that! I even managed with no hands!

OTA
So chat her up, or she'll call out to you if you're so much as wincing. ]
