WHAT: Adachi had a brief visit back home, and he's taking it as well as one would expect.

[ Number Eighty-two, inspection! Against the wall! ]

[ The words were still echoing in his head, even as he stumbled out of the porter at Cape Canaveral, his knees buckling and nearly dropping him onto the floor. The people tending to the porter seemed to understand why he reacted the way he did, at least one of the aids did. She was on him pretty quickly, holding him up and asking him questions. Did he need water? Coffee? Anything? He shook his head at her frantic questions, mumbling that he just wanted to go home. ]

[ It felt like forever before they finally let him port back to Heropa, during which time he somehow managed to keep standing on his feet, insisting that he was fine, that nothing was wrong, he just wanted to go home and rest. He managed to keep himself going until he got through the porter and to Heropa, managing to get outside where he thought he was alone... before he clutched at his stomach, zooming for a nearby bush to throw up. ]

[ He was an idiot. He was a fucking idiot. It may have just been for a day, but being back home, being back in prison where he was stripped of everything he was to the point where he was just a number that the bullshit cops could punch around when they felt like it. He had gotten so used to being able to live, to have his second chance, that-- ]

[ Stress Relief | Heropa Ice Rink | Viktor ]
[ The thought of going to his usual spot outside of the city to let Magatsu Izanagi tear stuff up had crossed his mind, but Adachi couldn't find the heart for it. He thought of going to a bar and drink until he got a visit from the Bad Ideas Fairy, but he didn't think his liver could stand that much drinking. So the only other option he had that could at least be productive with the emotions he was going through was to go skating. ]

[ He was pushing himself, and it was probably obvious to anyone that had been around on the ice that he was doing it while injured. He didn't care, though; he was getting used to ignoring people while being aware of them, skating around them as he tried to focus on practicing the basics. Once people started to empty out, Adachi switched it up, starting to work on the spins he had yet to actually complete without falling over. Of course, this led to him wiping out again, and again, and again... ]

[ Adachi was trying for the umpteenth time as the sky outside started to darken, not really noticing that there wasn't anyone left on the ice, nor that he had an audience of one at that point. He could feel his stomach ache, the bruising stretching out on his skin and making everything hurt worse than it was already. It made it hard to concentrate, so of course he wiped out again, flopping almost uselessly onto the ice. ]

[ He let out a frustrated groan as he stared up at the ceiling, before pressing the heels of his hands against his eyes. ]

[ "Don't skate beyond what you're ready for." "You need to learn how to walk before you can run." ]

[ Was Adachi going to listen? Nope; the moment he woke up the next day, he could already feel stressed out, and no matter how hard he tried to focus on work, focus on getting back into his usual rhythm, but he couldn't do it. He gave up after a couple hours of trying, gathering his things and heading right to the rink. ]

[ And he just skated. And skated. And skated; not caring how many times he wiped out, or hurt himself. He just got back up on his feet and kept going. ]

[ By the time Yuuri got to the rink, it was just the old owner there, kicked back in the skate rental booth like he usually was. He glanced up at him, raising an eyebrow, before waving toward the rink. ]

Good. Glad you're here. Watching him wipe out is only entertaining for a few hours.

[ Can't Keep Me Down | All Cities | OTA ]
[ The moment Adachi is let out of the hospital, he's just moving. He may not have been able to work out or skate anymore, but he had things to do. He needed to find a coach for himself, he had cases to finish up and move along so he could get paid, he had an apprentice he needed to work with and set him off on some of his own jobs. ]

[ There was no way he could keep dwelling on going back home for a day. Even though he was hobbling around with a crutch under his arm and an air cast on his foot, he couldn't keep stagnating in one spot. ]

[ Adachi can be found all over the porter cities, investigating, researching, and documenting what he can for his work. Though he's hobbling around as best he can, he does have to sit down more frequently, or catch a cab when he can't walk as far as he needs to. It's frustrating, but he's doing what he can to just keep moving forward. ]

Ah, not so tight. I won't drop you.

[ And he says it so softly like he has no idea what kind of effect he has on Adachi?? Gdit Viktor.

He heads for the front, nodding to the owner and saying goodnight even though he's apparently asleep before walking out into the night, leaving the final lock in to the old man. ]

[ Oh goddammit, Viktor. Adachi loosened his grip a little, sinking back a little so he could hide his face against his shoulder. Dammit, he... shouldn't be happy about this. Viktor was doing this because he was a friend and friends helped each other out. ]

[ ...he was such an idiot. Stupid face needed to stop being red right now. ]

[ After a while of walking quietly down the street with Adachi's cheek on his shoulder, Viktor starts to chuckle. ]

You're blushing, aren't you? I can feel the heat of it.

[ Adachi let out an annoyed noise, making a weak attempt at thumping his hand against his chest. ]

Viktoooor!

[ That just makes him laugh harder, you know. ]

Sorry, but I'm not sorry~ How else were you going to get home? Without causing a mild panic with your Persona.

I could make him fly up high enough so he wouldn't be noticed!

[ ...he should totally prove it. A bit of a sly grin appeared against Viktor's shoulder, and he let go with one hand to reach for his Arcana card and... ]

[ ...nothing. Not even a little sparkle. ]

[ Adachi's head shot up at that, shaking his hand like it was broken, trying to reach for his card again, only to still get nothing. ]

...uh oh.

[ Adachi moving his head (and therefore some of his shoulders and upper back) so suddenly makes Viktor stumble since he was mid-stride with only once foot on the ground, the subtle shift in his center of gravity being just enough to have an effect. It makes his raised foot come back down with a jolt, Viktor turning his head to try and look back at Adachi over his shoulder. ]

Eh? What is it?

[ Adachi let out a faint noise, trying again to get his Arcana card to appear, but nothing. No sparkling, no card; hell, he couldn't even feel Magatsu Izanagi like he used to, a constant presence in the back of his mind, ready to rip his way out. There was something there, he could tell that much, but it was like a quiet presence on the fringes of his perception, not a raging storm of chaos. ]

[ He sunk back against Viktor, clinging to him again. ]

...I can't summon.

Eeeh?

[ Viktor's eyebrows raise, and he tries to turn even farther to see Adachi's face ... not that he can at this angle, but. ]

What do you mean? That you can't call up your Persona?

[ Adachi shook his head, tightening his grip on Viktor. ]

M-maybe it's just because I'm hurting. I can't focus. You know?

[ But it's impossible to miss the worry in his voice. ]

Mmm, that's true. You did say you never reached your limit before. Maybe you're too exhausted for it.

[ Viktor speaks quietly once again, trying to be calm in the face of Adachi's worry. He hitches him up higher on his back and starts to walk again. ]

I'm sure it'll be fine once you get some proper rest.

Y-yeah...

[ He forced himself to relax again, resting against his shoulder. He... was fine, everything was fine. He would be okay, and he was just having trouble summoning because he was hurting, that's all. That was all. ]

[ He paused a moment, before nestling against his shoulder again, letting out a soft sigh. ]

Don't think about it for now. You'll only tie yourself up in knots again.

Yeah, I know.

[ He closed his eyes, letting the sound of Viktor's foot falls and the feel of his chest rising and falling against his hands calm him. It was a moment before he moved his hands, stroking at his chest almost absentmindedly. Damn, he could feel how cut he was through his shirt easily. It was nice... ]

[ It's one of his thinner training shirts too, the v-neck low on his chest, so every ridge and dip of his muscles can be easily felt like that. After a few seconds of Adachi feeling him up, Viktor chuckles again, his tone soft and teasing and completely not ashamed or embarrassed at what Adachi is doing with his hands. ]

Though I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to be thinking of that ...

But it's a nice distraction.

[ Adachi's voice was muffled by Viktor's shoulder, not helping the situation much, though he was very clearly smiling. He at least stilled his hands, though it took a moment. ]

...sorry.

[ Viktor makes a soft noise in the back of his throat indicating he's fine with it, the low sound rumbling gently against Adachi's cheek. ]

So you've decided you like male bodies now too?

[ And he says it so evenly and soft, it sounds perfectly natural to talk about something like that. Not an ounce of shame in his voice. ]

Mm...

[ Adachi let out a soft breath, finally lifting is head just enough so he could rest his chin against his shoulder. ]

Being stuck in that way of thinking and coming back here... it just reminded me how pointless it was. If someone makes me happy, why should I care about the rest?

Ah, Tohru finally understands~

[ He poked at his chest playfully. ]

Rude. Don't tease me while I'm poor and helpless.

[ He laughs lightly. ]

No teasing, promise. Well maybe just a little. I'm glad he realized that though.

—Oh, that reminds me. How did your date with Inanna go?

[ Adachi pinked slightly at the mention of Inanna, sinking against him a little more. ]

...i-it went great. I wasn't really ready for anything... after the date, but I want to see them again.

Really? That's good then! Progress~ And whenever you feel ready for that, I'm sure they'd love to help you become familiar with that side of it.

[ Viktor turns just enough so Adachi can see him wink his eye. ]

[ Of course, that only made Adachi blush harder, clinging a little tighter to his shirt. Thanks a lot, Viktor. ]
