WHO: Krul Tepes and Ken Kaneki
WHERE: :re Café, Nonah to start
WHEN: second week of April??
WHAT: Krul visits Kaneki to get away from her "son" and seraph so she doesn't kill them both for personal reasons
WARNINGS: TBD??
[ The thing about a creature like Krul is that she doesn't trust many-- anyone, really. In her thousands of years as a vampire, she's seen the corruption in humans, the secrecy that her own kind harbors, and the pain that both sides can cause to one another. Of course, as far as she's concerned, humans are far worse and always have been-- will be, for that matter. But when it comes to the First Progenitor and his taking her older brother away from her, she considers him to be very high on that list of things that are worse than humans and has never thought very fondly of the one who her brother often referred to as their "father".
Just the thought alone is enough to make her anger grow.
Though she's one to keep her own bulk of secrets, when it comes to secrets being kept from her? It's something she doesn't tolerate and so for such a revelation to have been discovered concerning the whereabouts of her brother... the one thing she's been searching for these past thousand years... well, it's not too difficult to picture just how angry the small pink-haired vampire has become, even long after the initial discovery or the confrontation that took place with her dear seraph and her informing him that he keeps her brother as a prisoner... as a weapon used to kill her own kind... to kill vampires.
Somehow, Yuu had been left alive, Krul having a better grasp on her anger than even she realized but she's not about to hang around the boy or her dear "son" with his coddling over how she had possibly hurt Yuu. As far as she's concerned? He deserves it and there will be no apology from her. But she's not about to be around them, lest her anger flare and she see nothing but red again and so, she decides to visit someone she considers a friend of sorts.
Kaneki, here at :re café.
From the get-go, it's obvious there's something troubling-- no, irritating the vampire and it's without much word that she searches out Kaneki within the café, the task itself rather easy and figuring this would be one of the few places she could find him; she doesn't know where he lives after all. ]
I have a favor to ask of you.
[ Is all she says when she finally approaches him, standing there, crimson eyes blank. ]

What the ghoul doesn't expect is to see her angry. All the times Kaneki has spoken to her, she always looked so jovial. Certainly he didn't expect her to always be so, but the vampire often keeps her own emotions under a sweet and cute smile. So seeing her like this is unexpected]
Krul-san. [ should he even ask? Well... she doesn't have to answer, certainly, but Kaneki will focus on her request ] what can I help you with?
no subject
Krul takes a moment after Kaneki asks, glancing off to the side for a second before her eyes settle back onto the ghoul; it's more like she's taking a moment to simply gather her emotions and not lash out so angrily at Kaneki. ]
I need to stay somewhere so I don't end up killing Yuu. [ There's a silent sort of anger burning deep in those crimson eyes of hers. ] Not permanently, just for a little while.

says the guy who murdered hundreds of ghouls, but moving on-kaneki pauses, looking back at her. he isn't sure how far he can pry, but Krul certainly expects questions about what she just said, or so Kaneki hopes. Because he will ask them when he gets the chance. ]
Ah- I don't particularly mind, but I live with other people. Humans. [ he knows how she feels about humans ]
no subject
[ She even lives with some herself.
She falls silent, looking to Kaneki with a sort of curiosity before she glances away, her jaw tight for just a few seconds. ]
If you'd rather not, I won't hold it against you.
[ Which is saying something, considering Krul doesn't often let things slip through her fingers once she has something in mind of what she wants. ]
no subject
he also doesn't want her to be on alert all the time, or get in a worse mood when she sees them ]
I don't mind if you stay, I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable. [ if she is fine with it, then so is Kaneki ]
What happened?

But it's his question that causes her to pause and her gaze to shift away from him. The thing about Krul is... she doesn't indulge others in her business, let alone her personal life and what's happened over the centuries. She simply doesn't trust anyone and has good reason not to with everything she's seen and experienced.
Although, Kaneki has yet to prove himself as a nuisance or distrustful creature around her and so, perhaps she'll indulge him in some of it. ]
The sword that Yuu wields. [ Unsure with whether or not Kaneki is even aware of such a thing, let alone cared enough to notice. ] It's a demon that he uses to kill my kind where we're from.
[ There's a drawn out pause, Krul still glancing away from him and almost debating whether or not to tell the ghoul her frustration and heartache over this. That's when she looks to him then. ]
That demon is my brother. He was taken from me over a thousand years ago and I've been looking for him ever since. He's a slave to the humans now and used to kill me and my kind.
no subject
He listens quietly, and as Krul explains, he is a bit at loss on what to say or even think. A demon turned into a weapon - ghouls get turned into weapons everyday and used to kill other ghouls as well, but while the parallelism is there, Kaneki doesn't think about it.
If it's a demon... then... how does it work, even? ]
... I'm sorry, Krul.
Can you release him? [ from the sword, from Yuu's grip.
should they want to release a demon, though?]no subject
She stares to him blankly with those bright red eyes of hers before allowing her gaze to drop from his, arms resting at her sides. ]
It's what I was trying to do before I came here... find him, figure out what they had done to him... but now that I'm here, it doesn't seem possible.
[ It's... not something that she's so free to admit to anyone, not even a certain blond vampire due to how vulnerable it makes her feel somehow... to show a softer, weaker side, one that may even feel helpless.
Painted nails of pink dig into her palms then and cut into pale skin, blood dripping from her hands as she stares past Kaneki. ]
I don't want to be around him right now. [ Yuu, she means. ] I might kill him if I am.
no subject
Kaneki's questions might end up just sounding idiotic or even annoying to her, so he decides it's better not to ask more and let her decide if she wants to share anything. it is a very sensitive matter, after all. So the ghoul nods softly. He'd reach for her hand, but he also doesn't know if it's wise doing that, even if they have held hands before. ]
I understand. You can stay with me for as long you need, Krul. Until you figure things out with Yuu-kun and Mika-kun.
no subject
So, with Kaneki, it's strange and for a moment, she doesn't seem too sure with how exactly to take that.
Her initial reaction is to question him with why he's so willing to let her stay... why he doesn't seem apprehensive when accepting her request, why he doesn't seem to try and shrug her off and direct her elsewhere. But... she doesn't ask him. Instead, she glances past him again for a moment. ]
Thank you.
[ It's not something she says often, not something she willingly allows others to even hear her say with such sincerity and not sarcasm but... considering her current emot-- wait, that's not right. Considering her current state of mind, she's more subdued with her anger and pain rather than ready to lash out and feel wary over others. ]
I'd prefer it if you didn't tell either of them I was here with you. That I'm staying with you.
[ Not that she figures Yuu would be smart enough to even come looking for her here. But Mika? Well, he could probably track her scent here eventually. ]
no subject
I won't tell me. It's not my place. [ of course. If Mika or Yuu wish to contact her, they can try to contact her inbox first, it seems like a much easier way to go about it than to directly hunt her - but whatever they decide to do, Kaneki won't get in the way ]
... but you can't avoid them forever, though.
no subject
It's sweet that you care about such a relationship I have with those two.
[ Or, at the very least, is seemingly concerned. ]
I won't avoid them forever, no. But for now, I'd rather be left alone and not in the presence of the one who holds my brother captive and as a slave.
no subject
But time is important too. I hope you can eventually figure out what to do. Not just your relationship with Yuu, but also your brother.
no subject
But she falls silent at the mention of her brother. It's... not something she often talks about-- with anyone for that matter and so with having told Kaneki at the very least the gist of it, well, it say something concerning how she feels towards him... looks at him as one not to betray her trust. ]
Time is all I ever have.
[ It's spoken softly, referring it more to the fact that she is "the undead" and never to die from natural causes or even illness as humans do. ]
I appreciate your...
[ She wants to say cooperation with this and yet... that somehow doesn't sound right. ]
...letting me stay. [ And after a pause. ] Thank you.

If you need anything else and I can help, just let me know.

It's when Kaneki asks if there's anything else that he can do that she just stands there, staring to her hand that she's cut into with her painted pink nails. The blood has already stopped dripping from her palm and the cuts have healed themselves up due to her rapid regeneration abilities with being a vampire. But... she feels something, something deep down inside her and she can't really make much sense of it and it confuses her with how willing Kaneki seems to be to help her; she's not used to that and hasn't been in well over a thousand years.
Dropping her hand to her side, she steps towards the ghoul and, standing there in front of him, she looks to him for a moment before arms come up to gently rest at his back and she gives him a hug.
Yes... a hug.
She's small against him (she's small against everyone) and perhaps comes off a little cooler to the touch than humans would be what with being a vampire and all, but she's not ice cold or painful to touch. But, then again, Kaneki would know that from having held her hand before.
Still, she's so small and pale and it almost seems as though she's trying to hide away against Kaneki with the way her cheek presses to his chest and she stares off blankly to the side, at a complete loss with what to do about her brother. ]
Would you do anything if your sister was in the same predicament as my brother?
no subject
But a second passes, and when it finally hits him, Kaneki's hands move as well. At first they rest against the side of Krul's shoulders, but soon after he moves to actually wrap them against her and bring the girl closer. It's easy to forget the "girl" is well over his own age, but seeing her - feeling her - so quiet and small against him only helps with that further.
Kaneki is a lot more muscular than he looks, so she won't feel him soft against her cheek, but rather hard and rough. Even his arms are unexpectedly strong for someone who looks so small too (Kaneki is pretty small for someone his age, yes). Like a hidden warmachine - but then again, she clung to his arms before so Krul probably noticed that by now. ]
... I would destroy the world. [ a lot of people would see this as an hyperbole, but Kaneki doesn't think it is. No. He really would go on rampage with every intention to kill and destroy if Hinami was ever hurt like that. He'd do everything for Hinami. He'd kill the world for Hinami. He'd kill himself too, as he has actually attempted before ]
But- if someone I cared about was involved in it, I don't think it'd be that easy.
no subject
But Kaneki is not Mika, isn't aware of the hierarchy within the vampire world where she's from and so it's of no surprise, really, that he moves to return the affection, gentle as it is. Still, it does have Krul feeling almost... conflicted about it, though she keeps that to herself. Instead, she listens to Kaneki's words and, while not meaning to, she smiles a little, though it's soft and not from amusement this time around. ]
Then we understand each other.
[ How they would do absolutely anything for their sibling, even burn down the entire world if it meant to have them safe and by their side again and Krul's done it... well, various things close to it. She's killed, she's hunted, she's bargained with humans in order to gain whatever sort of information she can find on the whereabouts of her brother. She's tortured as well without an ounce of guilt for doing such a thing so long as it gets her closer to her brother.
But the predicament of just where he happens to be and the fact that it's with one of her seraphs is... annoying in every single way possible.
Kaneki is not soft nor gentle to the touch and yet, she doesn't seem to mind, small hands still resting on his back with her cheek still pressed to his chest. Maybe it's a good thing he lacks the warmth and softness that comes with being a human lest she suddenly feel the urge to sink her teeth into him and draw his blood out into her mouth. The perks of being a ghoul around a vampire? Maybe. ]
I want my brother back. [ Even as she says the words, fingers grip the back of Kaneki's shirt a little tighter, tugging on it almost. ] He's the only one who's ever cared about me.
no subject
Meanwhile Krul doesn't know what will happen, if she will have her brother back, if he will return to her, if he is fine. Kaneki doesn't know what it means to have a sword that has a demon locked in it either, and there is a lot he honestly doesn't understand at all - not how she will get her brother back, and not if she can. It's not something he will ask or pry, it doesn't sound right to him, to ask her something like that.
he doesn't push Krul away and allows the hug to continue, humming very softly ]
Bonds like that are hard to forge and harder to forget. It's understandable. [ he doesn't know how her relationship with Mika actually works, so he won't bring him up to pose him as someone who might care for her. again, it doesn't feel right. ]
