de chima - april 1st OF COURSE
He wrinkles his nose. Glances over the pages of his journal and scribbles something in its margins. Then he tosses the seed.]
April 1st. This must be an auspicious day for you.
[And him, honestly. All that panic...]

[ Julian looks his usual, loosely dressed and calm. Except.
Except.
He's wearing shoes. ]
A good day for all of us, I think.
no subject
You should wear brogues more often. You don't want callouses. Plus they suit you.
no subject
[ He tilts his foot with a frown as he says this, obviously bothered by the shoes but committed to wearing them. For the day, at least. ]

[Disapproval stains every word. Then again, he holds no love for those committed to fashion, either. His colleagues at university come to mind.]
no subject
[ Julian, costumes are not the same as clothes. ]
I dress according to the day.
no subject
Obviously.
[Placing his right hand on his ankle, he furrows his left into the seedbox. His fingers haul out a handful of grain, which he aims at the pigeons with uneering precision.]
It's nearly Easter. What do you plan to do?
no subject
[ Julian pulls at his lip, considering. ]
I did make a promise.
no subject
[His tone is calm and polite. He doesn't make a show of it, but he's curious too.]
no subject
It's her month. I let her have a request.
no subject
[Whether he's speaking about the date or Julian himself, well... He goes at it from a different angle.]
Did it please you, in a strange way? Having the power to give such a request.
[The power of God...]

[ Unspoken but assumed is "like the calendar itself". ]
no subject
[His voice intones. It's lonely being one of the special few, isn't it?]
You often seem focused on creation a reaction, Julian. Anticipation is expectation, prediction; are you happy to be remembered as predictable?
no subject
[ There's a certain tone of voice Julian goes into when he starts talking about the calendar, a sort of almost loving certainty. Now is no exception. ]
You know that tomorrow will be Sunday. After that will be Monday, then Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, until Saturday returns again. Predictable.
But not. You don't know if your Tuesday will be full of grace, if your Wednesday will be full of woe. It is a pattern. You may anticipate the next day, but you will never know what will happen.

[The Batman. That central point they all circle. Predictable.]
no subject
[ He makes no point in denying it, but his motivations are,
as always, slightly different than the usual. ]
There will always be Batman. To be remembered by Batman is to be eternal.
no subject
I suppose so. [He inwardly grumbles a little to himself. Some of them are remembered more. Though it's in his interest to have Joker take all of the Bat's attention, honestly. There are more important things to be troubled over.]
Though he can always be made to remember you. Kidnapping. Bank robbery. [He's fond of kidnapping.] Even inaction. He knows what we do.
no subject
[ Is there just a bit of bitterness in his voice?
Perhaps. If Crane thinks Joker is paid more attention, literally everyone is paid more attention than Calendar Man. ]
I will make sure he remembers me. Something unique. Something special. Something one would never forget.
