[ re: Café is a small coffee shop located in Nonah. It can be found at a quiet neighborhood of the city, and not many people would realize it’s a coffee shop at first glance, since it looks more like a place to sell and trade trinkets. Once inside, those trinkets will be obvious: they are everywhere. From a deer head on the wall, to a corner with an old desk with mannequins, re: Café is pretty much like an urban museum, with old and sort of interesting things that give it a strange mix.
If that isn’t enough, there are also shelves with a lot of books. They are old, new, used or not, and they are available to all clients. The collection is varied, and all sorts of genres can be found – even a steampunk styled book called “The Modern Machinist: A Practical Treatise on Modern Machine Shop Method”. Clients can pick them from the shelves, or even trade or offer some new books with the café (just ask which ones you can take; some are Kaneki’s personal collection).
The menu is simple and not very big. Drinks focus on coffee and tea, along with latte and foam art, and the food is heavily influenced on Japanese cuisine. Normal items such as toast are readily available, but the pastries are something that might be gone very fast.
At a corner, there is a door with bold large golden letters saying "PRIVATE AREA". You might see some clients going in, but only very specific ones actually can. You might ask the owner what that is about, but he might now answer. No wonder many rumors grow around this coffee shop; from “the owner serves human flesh to his clients” to “you can find eyes floating in your coffee”, rumors that involve Kaneki’s and Hinami’s cannibalism are more than common – and of course, that means a lot of people come in because they are curious about that.
However, normal clients will never truly know. ]
PRIVATE AREA
[ At a corner of :re Café, there is a door with bold large golden letters saying "PRIVATE AREA". You might see some clients going in, but only very specific ones actually can, often told by the waiters that it’s alright if they go in.
In fact, only imPorts who have special diets – such as requiring blood or human flesh – may enter. Those who became regular do not need to ask to go in, but newcomers will have to be a bit more specific about who they are and what they need and are looking for before they are allowed to enter.
Once inside, they will find another area, smaller than the Main one, but much more elegant and quieter too. It's not covered in trinkets or books, and instead it looks like a small bar, with many bottles containing what might look like wine, but isn't really so - on the labels, they have the letters A, B, AB, O, along with + or -, and smaller inscriptions added below.
There are menus in front of each chair, and these are very different from the menu that is offered over the Main Area. Things like "soup" or "pudding" or "sugar" or even "smoothies" can be read indeed, but as the list continues there are also options such as "meat" or "organs" or at bottom it says "blood" with a list of various types of blood available.
This is the "cannibal café", indeed.
Don’t worry; nobody is being hurt in order to provide for the coffee shop. Most bodies and blood come from laboratories. Don’t try to dig too deep into this, however. It’s better for everyone involved.
But feel free to ask for the house specialty: Bloodwine. It will be a pleasant surprise. ]

2nd APRIL ; Main Area
"Happy Birthday, Haise"
It's not weird to be called Haise, though around here not many do. Still, Kaneki can't help but to feel strangely awkward that so many of his fans - the Kennibals, but not only, he also has a group of fans that are mostly old women who adored him - remembered one of his birthdays. he doesn't make a big deal out of it, he never did - but now that people know where to find him, things like this happen. It's embarrassing.
However, that means he'll spend the morning trying to find vases and other containers for the flowers. kaneki can be seen moving around the coffee shop, leaving some bouquets near the windows in improvised vases, and not really sure where to put the rest. At the counter, all the chocolates (which he can't eat) and trinkets can be found. He will have to figure out what to do with those as well.
He realizes that his desire for a "small and quiet café" is harder to achieve than he thought, sometimes. ]

[ Two hands are definitely better than one, but Kaneki's been left to suffer finding places for the flowers while Hinami picks a few out to start making flower crowns.
That and she's taken 100% advantage of being the only one of the two of them capable of eating human food and has confiscated a bunch of the chocolate. ]
Is this an April Fool's joke, maybe?
no subject
Not really. When i was Haise, April 2nd was my birthday. [ a pause ] "Is". [ he still sort of consider it his birthday. it's complicated ]
I don«t really pay much attention to such things, though.

She ventures closer today, hands clutching the handle of her shoulder bag, when a man steps out of the building with what looks like an attempt to find more vases than he actually has. Are those jars?]
... Would you like some help?
no subject
Oh, thank you, but I think I will manage. [ probably not, that much is clear. he has no idea what to do with these many flowers ]
People really went overboard with these-

All cakes are made by him, so he'd love to hear your input. Since he can't eat them, feedback like that is the only way for him to improve. And any compliment will leave him to smile proudly; kaneki does love to cook for others. He also loves to prepare coffee, and after training so hard at it, his coffee is indeed amazing. His latte art and foam art are specially good as well, but do expect cute things only since it's what he does. Indeed, the "scary cannibal" likes to do cute and adorable coffee art.
When there aren't many clients and he has some time to rest, kaneki can be seen reading a book eagerly. His collection is all over the coffee shop, and he certainly makes use of it too, whenever he can. He is an avid reader and absolutely fascinated with books, so expect him to rant about them if asked. ]
Later meant now btw
Sometimes...
Still, it's kind of sad looking at the menu and knowing he can't really order anything from it, or at least if he orders it he can't eat anything without immediately regretting that poor decision. Cake sounds good, but it has been long enough that he's starting to forget what cake even tasted like. It's funny, you spend sixteen plus years of your life eating food like a regular guy, and then several months as a vampire robs you of any memory of food flavors beyond "rancid garbage". He knows it tasted sweet, but he hasn't tasted sweet things in forever. The whole concept of sweet seems vague and fuzzy to him at this point.
It's a shame too, because from what he does remember the cakes sure sound good, which is why he's left sighing heavily as he reads through the descriptions. ]
awyis come to me
Hello, Junseo. I'm glad you came.
[ and after a quick look around, he will speak softly, so he can't be heard by others but the vampire ] Come with me, I have something to give you. [ because Kaneki already knows Junseo didn't pick up on what he was trying to tell him, he will show it instead ]

At first he was going to pass by the place, but such shops were the best places to look for books with publishing dates that may have information not allowed to be printed in newer books.
So there's a few moments of puzzled blinking on entering when his expectations are turned sideways in regards to what this shop actually was. Give him a quick moment to reorganize himself there.]

Hello. What can I get you today?
[ every day there are different specialties, all readied by Kaneki, but new and fresh bodies only come monday. There are no warm bodies or blood, though - after all, none of the "food" is taken from a living person, and no one is getting hurt to feed the clients. ]

She smiles as she stands there in her tiny glory, strands of pink cascading over a bare shoulder before she steps in further towards the bar area. ]
Answers to questions that I have and a person missing from my life for over a thousand years now. [ She smiles, settling at the counter with a glance around the place. ] But I suppose blood will do in the meantime.

His first time into the cafe is done without ceremony, slinking in with hands shoved into his pockets and barely a glance of curiosity given to the surroundings. Jack's far more interested in getting invited into the private area which he finds is blessedly quiet and away from the lingering, giggling fans.]
Hey, kid. [He mumbles as he slides into a stool on the bar, gaze on the bottles lined up on the back wall as a hand reaches blindly for the menu in front of him.] Got quite the selection.

hinami fueguchi → waitress/access to private area
Other than that, Hinami's just going happily about her job, much more social than her more timid nature usually allows. If anyone wants some recommendations or to sit and chat for a minute, she's more than happy to be of service. If she knows you, expect little extras with your orders and for her to drift over more often.
At some point during the day, she ends up with a flower crown tucked neatly into her hair. Gotta do something with all those birthday flowers. ]

It's when she catches sight of the girl she recalls from videos exchanged between them that the vampire queen gently approaches her, strands of pink blowing behind her as she seems to almost have a sort of invisible wind machine with her (and she's not even a Top Model). ]
So you finally opened, did you?
[ Her words are rather gentle-- sweet almost and there's a smile on her face as she looks to the girl with those crimson eyes of her. ]

Then again that is rather the idea, isn’t it?
Nothing mistakable about the door labeled PRIVATE AREA. For such strange rumors he expected police would have shut down the establish immediately, but the fact that they haven’t? Well, Hannibal is here because of that very fact.
Once Hinami comes back around, and Hannibal has had time to look over the menu, he flags her down to ask; ] What’s your favorite dish? [ Hannibal offers as kind a smile as any, perfectly capable of being civil even if he motives for being here are more clandestine than that. ] On both menus. [ Hannibal is also terrible at being subtle as of late. Nothing like a little heartbreak and a second rejection to get him to immerse himself in the community so Will Graham can’t ignore him anymore. ] Japanese cuisine is a favorite of mine. [ Not that he could ever bring himself to consume Lady Murasaki, his aunt, but the idea had crossed his mind several times before she disappeared. ]

You can never trust your GPS, guys. Enough that you start to doubt it all the time.
But he opens the door, walking into the cafe to be suddenly thrust into an odds-and-ends interior that just oozed eccentricity. It was...charming, really. Despite the seemingly random array of items that decorated the shop, it all seemed to fit the theme the owner was going for, no matter what that theme was.
But the bookcase is what catches his attention the most, seeing other customers take out and sit down with books while they idly drank their coffee. What an interesting concept...a way to experience the cafe while enjoying what it has to offer. With a smile, he adjusts the strap on his bag and walks in, idly striding over to that book case to see what they had to offer.
Maybe there's a star chart book in there...
He'll just be a minute before he orders. This is all so new to him. Feel free to catch his attention and bring this alien back down to Earth.]

none of that but the first bit has any bearing on why she stays, though. tara places an order for a plain coffee and the "cheapest food you have," pays painstakingly in a mixture of coins and crumpled bills, and directs herself to a table as far away from most of the people in the shop as humanly possible. at random, she selects a book from a nearby shelf, parsing the text with some difficulty, and waiting for her order to come.
she's obviously someone who doesn't read a ton.]
