Well, I've tasted things more burnt than this.

[Clara pops the chip - excuse her, fry - into her mouth and makes a face at the resulting crunch. It's her first attempt at making them from scratch, for the night in that she and Brianna have planned. The accompanying burgers are another chapter entirely in this novel of questionable domestic adventure.]

Ash, maybe. Bad toast.

[ Brianna actually doesn't mind the burnt fries. They're pretty gross, it's true, but she's eaten way grosser things in her life. It would have been nice if some of the fries had emerged kind of unscathed, though. ]

If we put enough ketchup on them, I bet they'll taste the same.

Or they'll just taste like ketchup. And despair.

[Clara crunches another one. Really, it's not that awful if you just pretend you're at a bonfire.]

[Clara smiles, and reaches over to flick Brianna's hair.]

[ She probably won't be scared, but she likes the excitement in horror movies. Besides, it's fun to laugh at other people (the sciencemoms, mostly) when they get freaked out. ]

[The sciencemoms resent that notion!]

Ghosts, monsters, or psychopaths?

Monsters.

[ Ghosts are too relevant for her current situation, and psychopaths just remind her of Drake Merwin. And while it's not like she's ever been scared of Drake, she doesn't want him invading her fun movie time and ruining it. ]

[She kicks back against the pillows, scoots a little closer to Breeze, and navigates to this world's answer to Netflix on their TV screen. After a few moments of Clara stubbornly fumbling with the technology, Blobzillo vs. Dogman is emblazoned across the screen.]
