OTA - Beaches near Heropa
[Looking for a break from the chilly temperatures of Maurtia Falls, Inanna's come down to Florida for a relaxing visit; not too far from Heropa. They won't be staying for long, but someone lucky enough could spot them out on the beach. It may still be too cold to go swimming, but it's just pleasant enough to lay back and soak up the warm sun. Even better is when the sun begins to set over the horizon, lighting the ocean up with rich orange and pink tones while the first pinpricks of stars begin to take their place in the sky.]

[And as long as Inanna's in the area, they may as well stop by a local business for a bite to eat. And maybe they have a little business to attend to with some of the staff here that they've been putting off. That doesn't mean they're entirely preoccupied with whatever that business is, of course. In fact, if they spot anyone lingering too long on the menu they'll take the chance to try to strike up a conversation.]

You should try the macarons. The vanilla lavender is amazing.

[And then there's the actual reason they're here—the Vorkosigans. Inanna made sure to send a text ahead to Cordelia to make sure she'd know when they were planning to stop by, but that doesn't guarantee that other members of the family won't find them first.]

To me, they do. [They might not always be the most helpful, but they certainly did talk.

They gesture again, and the display fades away.]

Aral Vorkosigan. [ He inclines his head... there's a moment of hesitation and then... ]

Would it be a strain to bring that ... ah, show of stars back?

[Ah, that's right, they're a space-faring group aren't they? Inanna grins.]

Any stars, or is there a specific system you're interested in?

[ He hesitates, here. His brow furrows and he seems lost in thought before answering. ]

I'd be curious to see if you could... the skies are quite different, from where I am from. It is something I rather miss.

The stars of your home, then. I can do that.

[The display returns, still the familiar constellations seen from Earth at the moment. They shift slowly, beginning to orbit in a lazy circle over Aral's head while Inanna watches them, murmuring softly under their breath while they read meanings from the drifting stars.

It only takes them a minute or so before they find whatever it was they were looking for, and the stars begin to pick up speed until they're spinning in a bright blur over head. They come to a an abrupt and jarring halt. Now, the constellations should be much more familiar to Aral—and any of the Vorkosigans that care to look.]

[ He hadn't thought it was possible. The location of Barrayar is a matter of speculation, given the nature of wormhole travel. Even WHEN Barrayar exists is something that those in the higher levels of math and astrocartography would debate.

But no matter how detailed a sceptical eye he turned to the wheeling show above, it was indistinguishable from the late even splay of stars one could catch from the Vorkosigan Surleau. He could pick the constellations his isolated ancestors had picked out and named, often for the legends that bubbled up in those lost 700 years. ]

That... [ A small breath of air at that. ] .. is impressive. How...?

[Inanna flashes a grin that's not quite smug, but certainly pleased that they managed such an accurate display.]

I asked the stars what your stars looked like, and then I..."took" us there.

[ There's magic, which is still both deeply unnerving and still quite wonderous...

Did they give coordinates, as well? I'm deadly curious.
