OTA - Beaches near Heropa
[Looking for a break from the chilly temperatures of Maurtia Falls, Inanna's come down to Florida for a relaxing visit; not too far from Heropa. They won't be staying for long, but someone lucky enough could spot them out on the beach. It may still be too cold to go swimming, but it's just pleasant enough to lay back and soak up the warm sun. Even better is when the sun begins to set over the horizon, lighting the ocean up with rich orange and pink tones while the first pinpricks of stars begin to take their place in the sky.]

[And as long as Inanna's in the area, they may as well stop by a local business for a bite to eat. And maybe they have a little business to attend to with some of the staff here that they've been putting off. That doesn't mean they're entirely preoccupied with whatever that business is, of course. In fact, if they spot anyone lingering too long on the menu they'll take the chance to try to strike up a conversation.]

You should try the macarons. The vanilla lavender is amazing.

[And then there's the actual reason they're here—the Vorkosigans. Inanna made sure to send a text ahead to Cordelia to make sure she'd know when they were planning to stop by, but that doesn't guarantee that other members of the family won't find them first.]

[ It's an easy hop over to Heropa where the beaches are miles and miles long, giving him plenty of room to train on the forgiving sand. Plus it's always a beautiful scene with the sun shimmering on the blue ocean. All the brilliant colors are at play in the sky while he puffs down the shore in running shorts and a thin hoodie.

Kyle's not one to get distracted easily, but Inanna isn't just anybody. When he sees him on the beach in front of him Kyle stops his endurance running to take a breather and chat the handsome man up. ]

Inanna. Hey. [ He's out of breath, but his smile is bright. ]

[Inanna had been dozing lightly in the warm sun, but they perk right up when they hear Kyle call out to them. Of course they're in a snugly fitted speedo, because there's nothing better to wear when the entire point of being in the sun is to work on a good tan.]

Kyle! It's been a while. [They sit up and pat the sand beside them.] Why don't you come take a break with me?

[ Oh, yeah, of course. Way to be a tease, Inanna. But uhhh, it's not something Kyle will say no to, though. So he dusts off his shorts and what he can of his sneakers and jogs over to where his friend is set up on the warm sand. ]

Don't you get cold like that? It's a little early in year to be sun bathing, right?

It would be if we were anywhere but Florida. It's a little cool here, but it's really fine as long as I stay out of the water.

[Inanna lays back on the sand, stretching out comfortably again.]

It's a nice break from the icy rain and snow in the other cities.

Yeah, I bet. [ It's all the same to him, really. But even he knows the bleak scenes of winter get tiring after awhile. Though Kyle does become the popular kid in winter what with his powers. And speaking of, his shy eyes glance over Inanna and leave just as quickly. ]

Uhm if you do get cold, let me know...

[Inanna hums thoughtfully, watching Kyle with a mildly amused grin. It's easy to recognize Kyle's shyness for what it is. They've seen the same thing in so many of their fans at home, but it never gets any less endearing to see.]

Are you offering to warm me up?

[redhott]

No! [ That answer comes out of him immediately, and it's obvious to both of them that it's the biggest lie to ever come out of any ginger's mouth. ] I mean... Yeah, but it's nothing creepy! I just have to touch someone—That's all it takes.

[ God he sucks at subtle. ]

[Oh this is charming. Inanna is so charmed. They grin brightly and hold a hand out to him, offering.]

You can just ask if you'd like to touch me, Kyle.

[redhott]

Oh my God, no, that's— [ His face is turning as red his hair and he can't even look Inanna in the eye anymore. Infact he's going to bury his face in his hands until the flaming embarrassment subsides. ] I didn't mean it as an excuse to creep on you, I swear.

[Inanna blinks, frowns in confusion, and pushes themself up on their elbows.]

Are you really worried about that?

[redhott]

About what? Sounding like a lech? Yeah. Definitely. [ Kyle brushes what sand is left still on his hands against his shorts, though it's more of a nervous reaction than a necessity. ]

[purple_reign]

[They tilt their head curiously, giving him a more attentive look.]

It's not being a leech to want some attention. Everyone wants that.

[ There is so much internal screaming, Kyle can barely contain it. He's a real trooper this kid. Inanna's right, most people do want a little attention. Kyle did, too, until it constantly turned into all things bad ever that could happen to a boy on planet Earth. Now he tries to stay far away from the spotlight—Buuut, that's hard when you want to be friends with rock gods like Persephone and Inanna, too. Weh teen angst. ]

Yeah... Just—If you were cold, I can help... is all.

[ And now he's going to change the subject immediately. ]

Do you come down to Florida a lot?

[ Nailed it. ]

[Even better when the rock gods are used to being surrounded by actual leeches. Inanna's grown used to people who just want to get what they can from them. It's stranger to meet someone concerned with not crossing that line.]

Hm... It might be nice once the sun has set. As for Heropa—not really. I just felt like a change of scenery today.

[ Kyle's shoulders relax once Inanna mercifully takes the bait and follows him onto a new subject. ]

You picked a good day. The sun's always so nice down here with the beach. Kinda wished I lived down here, but the grass is always greener I guess.

[They hum thoughtfully, glancing around at the sprawling shore and ocean.]

It is, isn't it... What's stopping you from moving down here if you like it?

[redhott]

Oh. Uhmm... Nothing I guess, but seems kinda silly to move just because I like the sunsets. I can come down here when I want and look at 'em.

Maybe. Well...if you ever want anyone to watch a sunset with you can always give me a call.

[redhott]

[ His face grows red again, but at least it's not from embarrassment this time. ]

Thanks. [ It stops there for a bit, and then Kyle finds the courage to keep going. ] For being so nice.

Well, you make it so easy. I can't imagine anyone wanting to be mean to you.

[ Haaaaaaaa! Is that the hollow sound of his shattered soul laughing? Yes, yes it is. But Kyle doesn't comment one way or the other. He simply shrugs and continues to stare at the fading sun. ]

Is everyone nice to you?

[ He would think so. Inanna makes it easy to be himself and feel special. ]

No. There are plenty of people who don't like me at all. It comes with the job description.

[At least it doesn't seem like it bothers them. They're relaxed and neutral-faced, untroubled.]

[ The expression on Kyle's face is akin to someone cutting a fart right in his face. ]

But... You're so sweet.

Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that part... [ Kyle had never been brought up on religion, and even if he had, something tells him he would have dropped it liek a hot potato pretty soon after he had almost killed his step sister. ] Well. I think it's beautiful.
