open | painkillers to numb my pain
WHO: Naminé and YOU
WHERE: Heropa #033, Heropa in general
WHEN: All month long
WHAT: Recovery log for November, featuring the aftermath of her October 25th encounter with Mighty Max's memories made corporeal
WARNINGS: None at the moment. Find me on Plurk at
raynestorm if you'd like to plan something more specific out!
Naminé is discharged after just a day and a half in the hospital, and it seems that her ribs will take about four to six weeks to heal completely. (She's not sure if using Cure spells will help it along. She kind of doubts it.) With orders not to subject herself to strenuous activities, and the painkillers constantly keeping her drowsy, Naminé hasn't been doing much in the way of productivity. School has excused her for a week; she's not allowed to go to work, either. It's only been a few days, and already she's restless, too lost in her own thoughts. So if anyone were to visit Heropa #033 directly, they might find her inside the house, working very slowly on her wall mural with a leopard gecko watching from her desk, or perhaps sitting on the porch bundled up in blankets, sketching whatever comes to mind and watching the world go by.

So when he sees her sitting on the porch of her house, he waves enthusiastically from the sidewalk. He's not sure if it's polite to go into the front yard without being invited, and he is Super Polite. ]
Um, hi!
...It's a nice day today, isn't it? [ He's trying... ] Um, what are you drawing?

Hello, Vivi. You can come look if you'd like. I'm afraid I can't meet you at the gate, but please let yourself in.
no subject
He opens the gate carefully, being sure to close it behind him and making his way over to her (though he gets distracted because he's gotta pat all the animals on his way over first).
He sits down next to Namine, careful not to disturb the cat. He kicks his feet a little, hands folded in his lap. ]
...It's a really nice day, isn't it?
no subject
It is. I'm glad we can enjoy a few more sunny days before winter comes. Here.
[She sets her sketchbook into his lap. Even though it's new, about half of the pages have been filled with sketches ranging from her friends to the animals to various still life sketches of food. Naminé will stop him with conversation before he can get to the last few pages, though.]
Do you live nearby? You should come visit more often, if you do.

Winter...I wonder if it snows here. [ He likes snow! Even if he did almost freeze to death once, oops, but that wasn't really snow. ]
Um...I live in a different city! But I can use the teleporters, so it's okay. I'll try to come visit more! [ As he talks, he's flipping through the sketchbook. If his eyes could sparkle, they would totally be doing that. ]
You're really good at drawing, Naminé...! These look amazing! [ HE IS IN AWE OF YOUR SKILLS
somewhat because he feels that these kinds of talents were things he never really got to see back home, so he admires them all the more. His friends never had the time or inclination to draw on the journey. ]

Thank you. It's a hobby of mine, now. If you'd like me to draw anything for you, tell me anytime. I'll have a lot of free time this month.

How are you feeling?
no subject
I'm fine. The painkillers are helping. Honestly, you look like the one who might need some rest...
no subject
I think I got sick from the hospital or school. But I'll be fine.

Alright. But only for a little bit, you shouldn't stay out in the cold for too long.
no subject
You shouldn't either. What if you get sick?

She smiles when she sees the other girl sitting on the porch--at least she's in the fresh air--and stops at the gate, waving.]
Hello, Namine-san! May I ask what you're drawing?
no subject
The animals in the yard, and the houses across the way. Would you like to see?
no subject
Yes, if you don't mind showing me! [Since that seems like an invitation and obviously Namine isn't in a state to be walking about, Fuu comes up the path.] It's good you have something to occupy your time while you're stationary.

Yes, on Nike-san's network broadcast. I didn't realize the alleyway had physical dangers in it as well--did they prescribe you strong enough painkillers?
[broken ribs are no joke, broken ribs also don't just go in a cast.]
no subject
[She pats the seat on the porch swing next to her for Fuu.]
Yes, they gave me a lot. I was told not to do anything too strenuous, too, so I guess it's a good thing my hobby is drawing.

... How's your work coming along?
[He's speaking to her, but he's peering curiously at the gecko, which looks content to sit where it is and peek out of its hidey-hole.]
When'd you get this guy, by the way?
no subject
Very well. I'll be back to where I was before in about a week. Thank you for lunch.
[She gingerly steps off of her stool and sits down to relax. The painkillers are doing their job, but she still aches from time to time when she least expects it.]
I got him at the Renaissance fair swear-in. He's small and stays in here all the time, so I figured you wouldn't mind...but, um, surprise? A new addition to the family. His name is Leon.
no subject
Nah, I don't mind. He's cute.
[Riku is the last person who can complain about having animals. He technically owns all of the ones in the house to begin with.]
no subject
Leon, this is Riku. Do you want to say hello?
[The gecko skitters back into his hidey-hole, and Naminé laughs.]
Alright, another day, then.
no subject
[Riku's never met Leon in person, but he doesn't have to. This little guy reminds him of all the stories he's heard from Sora.]
He's stoic enough.
no subject
[She carefully reaches into the tank, and after a moment, Leon settles himself on her hand to lift out. Naminé cradles him between her hands as she talks.]
You can really see it when he eats. He goes like this.
[And the corners of her mouth flatten out the flattest they've ever been, and she gives him the most unimpressed stare. And then puffs out one cheek to signal that she's chewing.]
