Breaking into Batman's house for fun

WHAT: Selina decides to check up on Bruce and also break into his house. Why? To see if she can.
WARNINGS: None, probably


[One day, Selina realized it had been a while since she last spoke to Bruce. And while that's not really uncommon for them, she still wants to check up on him. She also wants to know if she can break into his house. It's been a while since she broke into something. Bruce's house is the place she's least likely to get arrested for breaking into, too, so killing two birds with one stone.

It turns out, though, that it's actually not that challenging to break into Bruce's house. She's almost insulted. So insulted, in fact, that once she's in she purposely makes a ton of noise. Just to get Bruce's attention. Assuming he didn't already know she was there, which he might because he's still Batman]

[Bruce is in the cave, of course, because where else would he be? The manor proper itself is completely silent, so when she does start to make noise, it's fairly noticeable. He refers to a side monitor with various cameras placed around the home and notices Selina rather quickly. Not much detective work required today.

Luckily, he's dressed down today in his slacks and shirt, and not his evening attire, so he figures why not go upstairs; it had been a while since he'd been up there anyway. The grandfather clock against the wall chimes loudly in the otherwise quiet mansion, the door creaking on its hinges as he exits from the hidden passage within it. Some things never change.]

Do I need to get the spray bottle?

[Selina is dressed in normal clothes, a gray tank and a pair of black jeans, because wearing the catsuit to break into Bruce's house seemed a little too formal. When he emerges she folds her arms over her chest, raising an eyebrow at him]

Haha. Do you know how easy breaking into this place was? Haven't had time to install all the super paranoid security, huh?

[He steps up closer to her, hands in his pockets, wearing a casual smirk on his face. He takes a brief look at the broken vase on the ground.]

So, it's not that you could break in, but that it was too easy for you?

[That vase is your punishment for...who knows. Something]

Honestly, Bruce, do you think there's anywhere I can't break into? [The answer is no] This wasn't even a challenge. I mean, seriously, is the front door even locked? I bet if I checked right now it wouldn't be.

[He stares at her flatly for a moment.

Then peeks over her shoulder at the door...

Then back to her.]

I don't think that's necessary, Selina. [He pauses and casually circles around her to block her from the door.]

I'm sure you didn't come here just to break into my house, though. I hope.

[Subtle. That was so subtle]

You're unbelievable. How did you grow up in Gotham and still don't know anything about security? Rich people.

[But no, she didn't come here just to break into Bruce's house. Well, that wasn't all she came here to do]

Actually, I wanted to make sure you were settling in alright. Which I guess you are, considering you had a company and a house just waiting for you. [How does your life work, Bruce]

I've been here for two months, Selina. I know I have a certain reputation, but there are only so many hours in a day.

[He takes a look back over his shoulder towards the clock; the cave.]

I'd be surprised if this other me didn't already have some type of security set up, but sifting through his things is proving to take even longer than I expected. [Well, it's comforting to know that he's not even pleased with other versions of himself...]

Are you hungry? [Did he... cook...?] I could order something. [Nope...]

Yeah, well, maybe he was a different version but he was still Bruce Wayne. What is it about you hero types that keeps you from having a better sense of self-preservation?

[Because she's not a hero type. Not that her sense of self-preservation is always the best. She considers Bruce's offer for a minute before giving him a small smile]

I guess I could stay for a little while. Especially if you're paying.

[He smiles a little and raises and eyebrow.]

You sure? I don't want to put you in danger or anything.

Don't be mouthy, I can still leave.

[And do you really want her to leave, Bruce?]

[He smiles a little bit, and you know it's a sincere one because it's barely there.]

Would you really make me try the Chinese around here by myself?

Maybe just to see if you get food poisoning.

[She's kidding. Mostly]

I'll stay for a little while. But I just want you to remember that I was looking out for your personal safety. [Actually, she was bored. And she knew she could break into Bruce's house without worrying about getting arrested] I also want you to remember that that vase was ugly anyway so I was doing you a favor by breaking it.

[He takes another look towards the broken vase, and then smirks back at her.]

You know, I'll bet you that could have pulled in a lot of money somewhere. I wouldn't exactly call it rehabilitation, but you're getting better.

[He teases, turning towards the kitchen to get the menu.]

[Selina looks down at the vase as well, folding her arms over her chest]

You might be right. You rich ones do have a habit of tossing money at stupid things. [Also she is not cleaning up the vase] I'm sure you have other things floating around this house that could make me a pretty penny. I'll make up for it.
