It'd taken a lot of last minute scrambling, a lot of runs to the grocery store, and a lot of help from her friends. But as Naminé steps back from the set up, she smiles. Allows herself a little bit of pride in what she's accomplished.

The home tent is where all the food is. Fold up tables have been loaded with an array of sandwiches, finger foods, and drinks, and a cooler nearby has fish and other seafood goodies to be grilled at the bonfire once someone gets hungry for it. This is also where she'll direct friends to drop off snacks and homemade goodies. Please do not sneak any of the chocolate and marshmallows meant for s'mores later.

Close by is the rest area, which is really just a big spread of blankets and a couple fold up chairs on the sand. She doesn't expect everyone to want to stay standing up all day, after all. Naminé knows she's going to be there for a bit, chatting with friends who are visiting, and she may have started a tiny sandcastle and collection of sea shells at the edge of the blankets as well.

The volleyball net and accompanying volleyball are borrowed from a co-worker, so it definitely needs to get back to her in one piece. There's plenty of space for other sports and competitions though...perhaps a game of soccer? And how could anyone ignore the ocean? She and a few others will likely be waist deep in it, learning and practicing how to swim.

Not bad for her first party. Now all she has to do is wait for her guests.

It's been so much fun, and I've made so many new friends. I'm glad I did it. But I think it will still take time for me to get used to having so many friends.

No. I had...an unusual life, back on my world.

[She tilts her head.]

Has Riku told you?

[She assumes he's told a lot of people at this point.]

He has told me about himself, not you, Naminé-chan. [ naturally. That is something Naminé should be the one telling ]

Well. [She gazes into the fire. Talking about it has gotten easier, but it's never easy.] I have certain powers that people back at home thought would be useful to them. At first it was against my will, and then it wasn't, but both times I barely did anything else.

So being here, surrounded by friendly people and doing fun things, it's the best thing I could ask or wish for.

[dualismum]

Hm. [ he hums softly, wondering just how much he is allowed to ask ]

Can I ask what your powers are?

[redigere]

[She gives him a tiny, rueful smile.]

They called me a memory witch. I can manipulate memories and change them, or make new ones, or take all of them away.

[ OH WOW that's-

pinging all the wrong things for Sasaki and he is (was) an amnesiac and had his memory broken out of him.

Sasaki goes silent for a moment, and after he hums softly ]

I can see why someone would want you to use those powers. When you did it on your own, do you think what you did was bad?

No, because I was helping Sora, and fixing everything I'd done the first time around.

[dualismum]

Then, if you helped and undid your mistakes, that's considered something important. [ he smiles ]

I hope here you'll have the chance for more experiences.

Yes. It was something I had to do, and something I don't regret doing. But it was time-consuming. [She laughs quietly.]

I hope so too. I actually think I might have tried so many things at once that I overwhelmed myself. But planning this party has helped with that.

[dualismum]

I understand wanting to try everything. [ when Sasaki arrived here, he did try a lot of things he wasn't allowed to do back in his world, too ]

So, how exactly did you meet Riku and kagami? And Xion? She is from your world, too, right?

Yes. Sora, as well. They're all from my world.

[She needs a moment to think about this, how to explain this jumble of relationships.]

I guess the easiest way to explain it is that a group of people who were desperate for power brought us all together. Organization 13 used Kagami and I to hurt Sora. Later, Riku and I worked together to try and save Sora. And Xion, she was the one who actually did.

[dualismum]

Hm- so the Organization 13- [ they were technically the enemy, right? Sasaki doesn't know Sora very well, but he does know he is one of Riku's friends, so he isn't THAT lost. ]

What did the Organization want?

We thought they were using their powers of darkness to steal hearts from innocent people, in order to create something called Kingdom Hearts. It would allow them to regain their own lost hearts.

[dualismum]

[ she is probably being figuratively and not really talking about literal hearts, Sasaki assumes. Kind of hopes, too. ]

How did they lose their hearts?

[redigere]

By succumbing to the darkness in their hearts when they were human. Without a heart, they can only act based on their memories of when they were human. The Organization members were a special case, in that they were strong enough to keep those memories and appear human.

[She pauses, and then gusts out a sigh, her bangs lifting from her face.]

Of course, there are even more special cases than that. But...do you want to keep hearing about them?

[dualismum]

[ "Darkness of the heart" is such a literal thing in some worlds; it still surprises Sasaki in some ways. But he nods, listening to Naminé's explanation ]

If you wish to talk about it. I don't want to pry but- I never heard this. I think it's important. [ because it's part of Namine's , Riku's and Xion's life. It shaped them and even if some of it might be painful, it's still something that exists within them. ]

Me and my friend Roxas are those special cases I mentioned. We were born as beings of darkness, without hearts, from the very start.

Mm... [How to explain this without getting overly complicated...]

When the darkness takes them, if they're strong-willed enough to maintain a human form, then they can exist without a heart. Otherwise, they lose themselves to the darkness and turn into mindless Shadows that try to drag other people to the darkness with them.

Roxas and I were special cases because we were born from two people, instead of just one, and the two people we were born from were strong-willed enough that we...inherited human forms from them, in a way.

So Roxas and Namine were born from two people who had lost their heart...? So people who lost their hearts can just... give "birth" (not literally of course) to more people without hearts?

Yeah, he looks confused. because naturally he is. ]

After you saved Sora - what happens? [ he'd get back his heart sure, but what happened to Naminé, specifically, who was born from Sora? ]

A lot of things. Kairi went home safe and sound, Sora left to fight the Organization, and Riku did too, but from the shadows. But if you mean what happened to me--

[She buries her toes into the sand, wondering if she'll ever find a way to explain this without sounding over-dramatic.]

I was more a part of Kairi than I ever was a part of Sora. Once their fight was over, I helped them go home, I became a part of Kairi again, and then Naminé didn't exist anymore, because Kairi was whole.
