🎕 002 | [OPEN Log for September]
WHO: Estelle and you, if you want!
WHERE: Mainly Nonah or Maurtia Falls, or wherever you want to run into her.
WHEN: the whole month of September
WHAT: Open threads and catch-all for September
WARNINGS: Shouldn't be applicable...
[Semi-OPEN] Maurtia Falls, 005
[Residents and frequent visitors to MF 005 may notice a few small changes in the past couple weeks. More bentos of already prepped food in the new refrigerator, for one (though no sandwiches are currently in evidence). A few more books that are pointedly nothing to do with science, with delicate improvised doodled paper bookmarkers tucked between the pages and stacked neatly on the end tables and shelves, between uses. A gaily patterned plush throw folded neatly and resting on the arm of the sofa in the common room. A handmade windchime hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen by the window, with clinking prisms sending refracted rainbows scattering through the room.
Another new addition: a small vase of fresh flowers, replaced weekly. Estelle is refilling it right now, humming to herself absently as she arranges them.]
[OPEN] Nonah, the Crystal Emporium
[If you happen to just be walking down the street it would be easy to miss the shopfront, with its old-fashioned wooden sign with the name in a generic script across it, though the paint looks fresh. The windows are sparkling and clear, but there isn't much of a display there just yet. The space inside is larger than might be expected, but more than a little bit cluttered.
There are larger pieces standing right on the floor, so customers have to navigate around them carefully (or trip over them, if they're not careful), sparkling quartz geodes and slices of agate leaning against the walls underneath the lowest tiers of the wrap around shelves or just resting on the uninspired gray wall-to-wall carpeting. There's one especially impressive specimen of volcanic rock that stands, every so slightly intimidating, just forward of one corner, about the height of a reasonably sized elementary school student, with colorful striations throughout, and a sizable stump of petrified wood, that absent-minded customers mistook for a stool and often sat on. The aforementioned shelving along the walls are cluttered with piles of rocks, semiprecious and otherwise. There is a vast long table down the center of the store, with one deep basin filled with polished stones at one end, and examples of precious cut and uncut gems locked under glass. Finally, there is a tall revolving glass case with crystal figurines right next to the register, and another locked glass case of set jewelry. There are a few higher shelves, and crystal windchimes hanging from the ceiling, and some additional crafts that looked more homemade, twisted wire mobiles and dreamcatchers taking up the few remaining empty spaces. All in all, a scene of riotous color and chaos, disorganized but inviting exploration.
A careful, more conventional organization is spreading slowly but surely through the store like some kind of sentient anti-entropy field. Starting from the furthest shelf in the back, at least some of the store's wares are beginning to be tagged and marked with prices, names, and interesting facts on their natural history, handwritten on cards. Each set of shelves has its own organization - by color, by size, by shape, by type.
If you're interested in taking a look, and maybe buying something, the cheerful clerk might look up from being engrossed in her geology book, or frowning over a simple wire necklace and greet you:]
Hello. Can I help you find something today?
[OPEN] Nonah, library
[When she isn't working, you're most likely to find Estellise wandering the shelves in the Nonah library. Her reading tastes are eclectic and varied, and while she's slowly been gaining a passing familiarity with the computer system, her favorite method is still wandering through the shelves until she finds something interesting that catches her eye. Will it be modern history, political science and philosophy, or a completely self-indulgent romance novel? She's always excited to discuss her reading if people are amenable.]
[Open] Wild Card!
[Just let me know if you want your own custom starter, or drop me a line at
rizubee!]

[Rita makes an exasperated noise as she trudges up from the basement to fins Estelle with flowers. Again. Well. Whatever made her happy]

What are you doing?
[It probably comes out sounding a bit accusatory, even though he doesn't really mean it that way...]
no subject
Oh, hi Leon. Um. My neighbor has a really big flower garden, and she gave me some, so I thought I'd bring them to share? [And brighten up the house a little, she doesn't say. But Rita and Flynn were a bit aggressively utilitarian as far as furnishings went.]
no subject
[He looks down at the flowers. He wouldn't admit that they were pretty out loud, but ... they were. They made the room look nicer. Not that it mattered all that much to anyone who lived here, but... it was definitely a nice enough though.]
no subject
Do you have a favorite color or flower, maybe?
no subject
[It's said immediately, almost too immediately maybe, but that didnt really matter. It's not like Estelle would have any reason to know why he answered like that, and that's just how Leon liked it. It's not like anyone here knew Xerxes' last name. Or even his first name.
He should probably at least be polite and ask something in return.]
What about you?
no subject
Oh, it's really hard to choose! I prefer brighter colors though. [Things that inevitably clashed with her hair, unfortunately.]
no subject
Really? I guess brighter colors can be nice.

[Flynn smiles over at Estelle and the flowers as he distributes things into the fridge, trying to decide what to make. Things that can be eaten easily and keep well, hm. Maybe he can do something creative with rice balls.]
no subject
I'm glad you like-
[Wait. Something was not right.]
[...] Ah...did...you just get back from grocery shopping, Flynn?
no subject
[Although asking now that he's back is a little silly, hm.]
Maybe I'll keep a list on the fridge. That way you can leave me a note if there's anything I should pick up when I go.
no subject
W-what are you planning to make?
no subject
Hm... It's been a while since I've made rice balls. I think Rita likes those.
