He gives it one more uneasy glance, but that's all -- best to return to it later with fresh eyes. He shakes his head. ]
Me either, I guess. Like, probably. I mean, I've never tried, but... [ He blinks, and shrugs. ] I don't really like violence, it's not something I paint very often.
[ Then he pauses, and proceeds to walk through the hallway toward the stairs silently. Oh those wild fits of pique. ]

But if Pablo's okay with it, Jaime supposes he is too. He hesitates, then follows Pablo downstairs and out the door, allowing his silence until they leave, because no way in hell are they walking the entire time in silence.]
So... what do you like to paint, then? When you're not, um. Inspired.

On the other hand, it makes it pretty easy to adapt quickly to unfamiliar situations, hence why Pablo hasn't had any apparent issues with adjusting to life here. A couple bumps here and there, sure, but he was pretty quick to accept this strange new reality.
He doesn't immediately appear to have heard Jaime, continuing to walk in silence with his eyes fixed toward the ground, but then almost a minute later he lifts his head and looks at Jaime, blinking once like that's a question he's never thought about before. Then he raises his left hand up so that his eye tattoo faces out, holding it up in front of his own eye. ]
Well, usually I start by painting eyes-- you know, like, just to be safe. I feel like-- [ He lowers his hand again and pauses, lips closed in a line, eyes staring forward, before continuing slowly: ] ... I just feel a lot better once I've done that, usually. Oh, and flowers, too. I paint a lot of those.
[ Slowly, his gaze shifts downward again, a bit self-consciously; his expression doesn't totally reflect it, but Pablo never knows how to talk about himself, always nervous that he might say something weird. That's something he can usually catch onto, at least, as opposed to weird actions. ]
Um-- but we don't have to talk about that. [ He says it somewhat quickly. ] How has your family been liking it here?

[He was sort of hoping for something a little more normal, like portraiture, or scenery, but he doesn't get artists. Eyes are neat, he supposes. Not something he'd want to see a painting full of, but he's pretty sure it's symbolic, or metaphorical, or something. Window into the soul?
God, he really does try to talk to people about their interests, but he knew he was bad at it when all he could say to Minato's violin playing was that's pretty. He's even worse at paintings. So while he is genuinely interested in Pablo, there's a big part of him that's relieved at the shift in subject; it means that he's not going to inadvertently insult Pablo's life's work. He'll ask about the eyes, maybe, and that whole just to be safe thing, but... maybe later.]
Oh, um. Okay, I think. I mean, they're adjusting, even if this isn't really where they want to be. They belong at home with the rest of our family, you know? [He pauses, pressing a finger to his bottom lip.] How about you, man? We haven't talked much. Is this place okay for you?

[ Pablo says it in a matter-of-fact though distracted sort of way, either because he thinks that explanation is sufficient enough in of itself, or he doesn't know how else to talk about it -- perhaps both.
Then he nods slowly, just once. ]
Oh, yeah. I can be fine pretty much anywhere, so... like, I think it's interesting. But, um, I guess that's how I'd feel too, if my family was here. They all have other places where they'd be happier... [ A pause, then he blinks. ] Do you have a big family? Um, like siblings?
no subject
Well, I'm glad that you're okay here, at least. That's the most important thing, no matter how you get around to getting okay with it. [He pauses.] I mean, so long as you don't break any important laws.
[He can't see Pablo as a criminal anyway, however, so he supposes he doesn't have to worry much about that.]
I got a little sister back home. And, like, fifty cousins, but you know how these things go. You get a family like ours together, and things get a little... crazy. Plus, everyone decided to have, like, three kids each.
no subject
Right, yeah... for sure, no important laws. I wouldn't want to do that.
[ Which is not to say he's never... encountered... Legal Troubles™, but never intentionally. Anyway-- ]
Oh, yeah. Totally. I mean, I think I have more siblings than I do cousins, unless I'm forgetting about some... well, we only live near two of them. What's your sister's name?
