No-one's gonna' make me pay for boot. We're already leaving.

[Already leaving.... while there's already a woman from said store starting to call out for the pair of misfits in an angry voice. It's time to go, Zoro--and go now. If the samurai isn't already on his feet he's going to grab him up and continue with the grab-and-drag once more.

God, was this ever going to end.]

Maybe next time I'll just try landing on the roof, how about that?? I can do that--!

[And this was most certainly their downfall.

Oh well. At least he'd get in contact with a nice amount of people over that cool little snail-less communicator on his arm at some point or another. And even get this neat guy named Riku to help them out.

Through the keels and hauls of it all, somehow--the odd pair manage to make their way to the Porter where Riku asked to meet them--and somehow, they had even managed to meet up yet again.

Good god, it was the most messed up day so far. And Luffy was loving it.

Here's hoping Riku would have the same positive attitude when the pair of backwards-thinking pirates(who did not look like Pirates) approached him with too-cheerful a wave.]

Heeeeey! Hey, Riku! [That's him, right? The one he messaged--look at that head of silver hair. That's him all right.]

[Riku's been puzzling over this for a little while. How does he address him? Monkey? Luffy? D? Who knows. He's not going to worry about it for now -- he figures, if he meets both Monkey D Luffy and his friend together, he should figure out what he goes by.

That said, he's standing outside the Porter room, next to the door, and he's tapping away on his phone, but when Luffy and Zoro approach he looks up, instantly alert again. He's spoken to this guy once and already he could pick his voice out anywhere.]

Hi, [Riku says simply, and tucks his phone back into his pocket.] You found your way here. Good job.

[Zoro needs like ten naps from running around this stupid city trying to re-find his captain. At this point he's bleeding through the bandages Coby did up for him before--which was...pretty inevitable, really, but might have been delayed a bit longer if not for the latest round of shenanigans. But Zoro isn't all that fussed--it's how Luffy is, and honestly, for all his complaining, he wouldn't have it any other way.

That doesn't keep his greeting from being less than polite, though.]

--You're that freaky darkness guy.

[Any of the above, he'd tell you, Riku. He's not terribly good with names himself, so he even turns a blind eye when people call him 'Straw Hat' instead of his actual name. Either way, he gives Zoro a look when his crewmate refers to the silver-haired dude as 'that freaky darkness guy'.

He gets one of those blank-faced, simple dog expressions over his mug, and his head tilts to the side.]

Darkness guy? Do you have special powers or something? [He looks directly at his new friend, wiggling his fingers at him.] And yeah, we found our way here! It was easy!

[No. No, it was pretty much the most confusing last couple of hours.]

That's me, [Riku says dully, and his eyebrows raise when Luffy addresses him again. He nods, then looks back at Zoro, who looks suspicious.] I'm Riku, [he adds, then holds out a hand to be shook. But he'll understand if he leaves him hanging, based on that first conversation. Riku's mind returns to what Luffy just said a moment later, though, and he doesn't know whether to believe that or not.

In the end, it doesn't really matter, and he gestures for them to follow.]

Let's go, then. The Porter near Heropa isn't too far from the beach -- it's in walking distance, if I'm being honest.

[Riku knows -- he's walked from here to his house.]

He makes a door thing that he called Darkness, it was on the mirror box.

[Supplied helpfully to his captain when Riku doesn't clarify the epithet. Zoro's not really a handshake sort of guy, but he does at least offer his name in return when Riku introduces himself.]

Zoro. [He nods in acknowledgement as he follows after Riku.] Lead the way.

[Leave him hanging? Naw, that's not going to be a thing at all. He doesn't seem disturbed by Zoro's words, and actually, he takes the darkness-guy's hand without a single bit of hesitation on that 'good dog' face.]

That's cool!! I've never heard of an ability like that before. It sounds useful.

[He grins, his teeth clicking as he hunches his shoulders right up.]

Then let's walk! Maybe we'll find what we're looking for when we get there, right? The ocean has the most opportunities.

[Riku realizes he ignored Zoro's statement on the darkness, and he nods, looking thoughtful.]

It is, but it's dangerous, if you don't know what you're doing. Even if you do, it can be still.

[He goes ahead and takes the lead, heading out. It doesn't take him too long to get on the path, and he shoves his hands in his pockets, looking over his shoulder to his companions.]

So you guys are from the same crew, right? How many of you are there?

[sTRAW HATS EAT DANGER FOR BREAKFAST!!!11 but also he's less than inclined to go through creepy darkness doors unless it's necessary, so.]

What's dangerous about it?

[Asking for. Science, or something. ~~Mostly to keep Luffy from making bad life choices, tho.~~]

Well, officially there's six of us, but we were traveling with a princess and her pet duck, and they're our friends too. So I guess that's eight.

[He wants to know what's dangerous about it too, but he'll wait at least until Riku answers Zoro's question. There's no point in repeating it, so he just nods like a madman once or twice to extenuate the point. Both the point of asking and the point about the crew, too.]

I want at least ten members, so there'll still be more to come, soon.

We still need a musician, too!

It can harm your heart. I mean -- not the thing in your chest, I mean like your soul. I do have protection against that, though. That being said, it's not relevant right now.

[Riku tilts his head, looking between the pirates for a moment, then continuing their trek.]

Ten, huh? So if you don't have a musician -- what jobs are filled now?

Huh? How's that work?

[How does walking through a door hurt your soul. . . . asks the guy who can't even navigate non-darkness pathways without getting lost.]

Anyway, we've got a navigator, a sniper, a shitty cook, and a doctor. Luffy's the captain and I was his first crewmate.

[Though oddly enough, when he says shitty cook, it doesn't have any bite to it. It's almost like a nickname, except of the gruff and bitchy variety.]

[Rude, he's an amazing cook. But Luffy barely bats an eye as Zoro answers, a spring in his step as he raises up an arm in reply.]

We got almost all the important ones, see? And I've got all the best crew for the job, too! They're all really great people--I'm sure we'll see them here sooner or later. [Lol.]

I wonder if Vivi will join our crew, too, when everything's done. I can't think of another pirate ship that has a Princess.

Might be you will.

[A princess, huh? Riku wonders, vaguely, how Kairi would fare on a boat like that. Probably pretty good. But for now, he's going to just continue on, leading them down the road that heads to the beach. It's obvious as they get closer, since the air starts to smell distinctly like salt water.]

Getting there.

[LOOK he's the best shitty cook in the Grand Line ok...!]

Maybe.

[Zoro's not too sure about that. She's their friend, certainly, but she has obligations and responsibilities the rest of them don't. Her priorities are different. He's not going to rain on Luffy's princess parade, though, at least not until he knows how everything shakes out with Alabasta and stopping the civil war.

And then, there it is--the coastline. Zoro even smiles a bit at the sight; he has a great deal of affection for the sea nowadays, most of which has to do with Luffy and the others.]

Hard to believe it really isn't our sea.

[He's still not sure it isn't, honestly. The thought of it unnerves him right down to his bones, not that he would ever say as much.]

How can you be so sure it isn't our sea?

[Forever the optimist, Luffy's already running out towards the water--though his pace is pretty much slowed when he catches sight of the boats that are already at dock and ...

His expression is confused, at best.]

Those don't look like proper boats at all. [They're... metal.]

[He lets them go ahead of him, though Zoro's remark catches his attention.]

It's not, more than likely. Or if it is, it's a different version of it.

[Riku watches Luffy slow, and he follows, moving to stand beside him so he can get a look at his face.]

Are they not?

[There are wooden boats back home, too -- many of them, to the point where that's the most common thing. But metal seems to be becoming more popular.]

What's wrong with them?

[He's not, entirely. But Riku did make one fairly convincing argument for different worlds, which was...]

I dunno. But Riku said something about the Darkness eating his world, and last I remember our world wasn't eaten. So there might be somethin' to it after all.

[Meanwhile, as Luffy is judging the boats for being metal, Zoro is thinking about how much less of a pain in the ass the Marines would be if the Going Merry was metal, and thus not susceptible to canonballs.]

Huh. I wonder if Usopp could do that to our ship....

[Obviously they couldn't remake it out of metal, that would take too much time and also be expensive, but maybe an outer covering.......]

Darkness ate your world? Well that's just rude. [What a reaction.]

Don't think ours was eaten like that. We'd notice that, right?

[A hand on the back of his head, holding his straw hat in place as a breeze rolls over from the ocean, waves breaking along the shoreline. It feels familiar and comfortable, but....]

Different because all the boats are made of that shiny, plasticky stuff!
All the ships back home are made of wood. Because wood is the proper stuff boats should be made of, right??

Yeah, you'd notice.

[Darkness eating his world... that he did. He wonders if these guys really want to know what it is that entails. But for now he'll address the shiny plasticky stuff instead.]

Most boats are still made of wood, at least, to an extent, I think. Those ones are metal, though. Like -- you know, like his swords, [he says uselessly, indicating Zoro. Speaking of which...]

-- How do you manage three at once?

Huh...that seems like it'd be too heavy to float....

[But evidently it does, and he's not the guy who knows how things Work, that's pretty firmly Usopp's department. So he shrugs, and moves on, mouth twisting into a grin.]

You wanna see?

[Because what's giving an explanation like a normal person.]

[His expression is already brightening up as Riku's attention turns to his first mate, and he can feel himself getting excited. He grins, pointing at Zoro, and then he points to his own face.

He doesn't say another word, just waiting for his Swordsman to do his thing, keeping from spoiling it furthur. (Because god he wants to just yell it out.)]

Ah, I don't know -- it's something to do with physics. Not my area of expertise. Anyway, I certainly do, [he adds, and then he can't help the grin that appears on his own face in response to Luffy's. Instantly, the Keyblade is in his hand in a flash of energy.] I'm always interested in fight styles.

[!!!!]

--It appeared outta thin air!

[WHAT THE FUCK that's actually really cool hdu!!!! don't be a cheater, Riku, that's rude. But anyway, he's got his own swordsman pride to upload, here, so he...well, doesn't do anything as flashy as summon a sword out of thin air, but he sure does have a sword in each hand and the third in his mouth.]

Santouryuu. I invented it myself.

Wh-hoaaaaaa, he summoned it outta no-where! How'd you do that? Were you hiding it in your pants? [Now he's moving up to Riku, unabashedly reaching out to touch this magic key of his.]

[He holds it up, the tip facing the ground, so the pirates can get a look at it. Luffy touching it doesn't bug him -- it's not like anything can happen to it.]

No, it's -- I call it, and it comes. That's all. But --

[Back to Zoro now, because for Riku, holding a third sword in your mouth is weirder than summoning one from nowhere.]

Is that not hard on your jaw?

[his pANTS LUFFY? BRO. DUDE. PLS. That is a definitely a somewhat judgmental stare getting tossed your way, captain. Riku, though, just gets a mild shrug]

Nah, I can handle it.

[That said, he is gonna put his swords back now. No need keeping them out like this when he's not fighting with them, after all.]

It'd come from anywhere? Even if it fell to the bottom of the sea or something?

[Unbeknownst to Zoro, he kind of has a similar power now too. Sure is too bad he threw out his file, huh.]
