[Recently, Kogami has seemed more distant than usual. Like something in particular was bothering him, but he hasn't said a word to anyone. Just carried on with his days, went to work, came home, smoked, petted his cat. Not necessarily always in that order.

But it's notable to those who know Kogami well that it's not simply a matter of being a taciturn person. He's somewhere else, mentally, and everyone probably notices, but no one has thus far been the one to ask him about it.

You know, until Masaoka got the idea to invite him over for a drink. Kogami never did have the old man's tolerance, and slowly his inhibitions lower just enough for him to eventually let slip--]

Kagari's gone.

[Masaoka tenses, still for a moment before he picks his drink back up. He tilts the glass slightly to the left, then right, letting the whiskey swirl over and around the ice.]

Is there a chance he's in a different city, or was he...ported out?

[Kagari could have just gone somewhere on a whim, but Masaoka honestly doubts Kagari would have done that without telling anyone. If anything, Kagari would probably text them pictures or videos.

But leaving selfishly on a trip was better than being returned to the Sybil System and an uncertain, but certainly unpleasant, fate. Kagari, especially, is better off here.]

His name's not in the contact list. If I try to reply to his old messages, I get errors.

[He stops to light a new cigarette and take a drag, something comforting in the gesture that drinking doesn't quite accomplish.]

From what I've read around the network, that's supposed to be a sign someone's really gone.

Ironic, isn't it? He would've wanted to stay the most.

[And here he's been, holding his breath waiting for this all to end, had even had that temporary falling-out with Aerith over it. It's like a joke, except it isn't funny at all. He's torn between frustration and anger and guilt, here--all typical Kogami things, though directed at a different target than the usual. It's just...it's not fair that Kagari should be sent home while the rest of them remain, while all those imPorts that have things to return for, real things that weren't revenge and hatred, whose lives weren't effectively over like his was, are trapped here.

It's a stupid, childish thing, but he wants to trade places with Kagari. Kagari who never got a chance for a life, unlike people like him, who gave up the right to theirs.]

[For someone who usually has such a flippant bad-boy attitude, Yuri has a shockingly mundane and reliable schedule when he's not pulling a night shift for his mercenary job. Wake up early, stretch, go for a run, eat breakfast. Be home in time to cook dinner so Flynn can't.

He can be found in the kitchen in the morning or the evenings, usually listening to world news—surprisingly conscientious.

Mornings and he does his stretching routine in the yard and can probably be found balancing on one foot with the other touching the back of his head or doing other intense and uncomfortable looking poses.]
