[Closed] Those days came and went…
WHO: Jim Kirk, Dr. Leonard McCoy and Spock!
WHERE: At one of the seedier bars in Heropa
WHEN: ~Aug. 5
WHAT: Jim, Spock and The Good Doctor are meeting up all in the same place for the first time...and Jim forgot to tell Bones something important.
WARNINGS: Potentially interesting curse words from Bones
He already knew they spent way too much time together.
But he needed to get them away from their work place and just someplace to relax--Bones especially. Jim was pretty sure he already had high blood pressure. Besides, he couldn't have his bondmate and his best friend sniping at each other all the time. Jim at least should be present some of the time for a laugh.
And to maybe make sure they play nice together.
He picked one of the bars he likes to frequent--more of a hole in the wall with tacky old sports paraphernalia lining the walls that looks like it needs a good dusting and maybe a few more light bulbs. It feels cozy to Jim, anyhow.
He and Spock come in during the early evening so it's not crowded yet. They can snag a table in the back, but first, Jim stops at the bar and orders a favorite of his--scotch neat. They're a bit early from their scheduled meeting time with Bones but it's fine. It'll be funnier watching them with a drink in him already. He turns to Spock.]
You getting anything?
[He takes a sip of his own drink.]

[He takes a sip of his own drink.]

I believe I will. [ Then turns to the bartender. ] I believe it is called a Bloody Mary, please.
no subject
That's practically healthy.
Does ethanol even do anything to Vulcans?

[ He thanks the bartender as his drink comes up. ]
no subject
[Utter and complete smartass right here.]

I admit, I have not dedicated full research on the subject. Nor do I wish to, [ he clarifies, hoping to stave off Jim's protest/suggestion. ]

So Vulcans can't get drunk at all?
no subject
Not from alcoholic beverages commonly served in venues that cater to wine and spirits.
no subject
So what can you get drunk off of if not alcohol?
no subject
Of Earth-based substances: cacao, specifically high concentrations of cacao content.
no subject
[That tidbit is absolutely delightful.]
You should've gotten a drink with chocolate in it then. They have those.
no subject
When it is made into a more acceptable form for Humans, it is commonly dark chocolate, yes. However, Vulcans typically find chocolate to be quite bitter, making it an acquired taste.
no subject
[Oh he's not giving this one up for a while.]
no subject
no subject
Huh.
[And that's all he says to that, refocusing on the matter at hand. He takes another sip of his own drink and leans forward, hands folded casually as he hunches over a bit.]
So a different kind of taste to mask it then. What do Vulcans usually do?
no subject
Some prefer the taste as is while others simply do not consume it. I am uncertain what other might do to make it more palatable.
no subject
no subject
[ A beat. ] I also stated it was an acquired taste for Vulcans. However, I did not specify that I had not acquired such a preference.
no subject
Okay I need to see this.
no subject
no subject
[Because he needs to see the Vulcan equivalent of letting loose now that he knows it's a Thing.]
no subject
[ More like never. It's not like Spock would drink to excess anyway. Spock hopes that's the end of the subject, taking another drink from his Bloody Mary, their hands nearly brushing each other's when his hands returns to the table. ]

The link that opens only emphasizes his amusement at this new information.]
Or now. C'mon it"ll be fun.
no subject
I have often questioned your definition of "fun".
