WHERE: A beginner's hiking trail in De Chima

WHAT: Hiking misadventures!

[It's a beautiful early morning in De Chima. Well, Cosima's definition of early which is 10:30 am. A group of hikers are gathering at the start of the easiest hiking trail that the city has to offer. On such a nice summer day it's not unusual to see hikers out and about, but these specific people make for an unlikely hiking group.

Cosima's the last to arrive (of course), wearing an outfit (lounge pants and a cropped bralette with a long, drapey sweater over it) that would look much more appropriate at a yoga studio than a hiking trail. At least she's wearing hiking boots. And a grin to show that her enthusiasm will not be trampled by her lack of any real hiking experience. Ruby promised her a fun hike, and Cosima expects her to deliver. She rushes towards her waiting friends, balancing a tray of take-out coffees in one hand and waving with the other.]

[ Sarah is even less prepared than Cosima is for this, except she's gone in the opposite direction, clothes-wise, and is wearing boots, black jeans, and a leather jacket. Because of course she is. She's used to hiking, if you can even call it that, in Canada, where it's usually a) cold, and b) not hot. Even at this early hour, she looks like she's starting to suffer in the heat, but she's determined to push through this, anyway. ]

Took you long enough.

[ She swipes a coffee as Cosima approaches. Now she's wearing boots, black jeans, a leather jacket, and holding a hot beverage. Excellent. ]

...hi.

[How did this happen? How did she end up responsible for the survival of these people in the wilderness? Alone. Where is Mulan when Red really needs her?

Oh, well. If this is the way it is, might as well make the best of things. She pulls her phone out and holds it up.]

Okay, before we do anything, I need "before" pictures.

[Cosima barely holds back her laugh at Sarah's outfit. Who wear leather to go hiking? (It's as if Cosima doesn't realize she's not dressed properly either.) She raises an eyebrow as Sarah swipes the coffee from her. There's no way that jacket is going to make it through the whole hike.]

Man, you must be burning up...

[Apparently, this is what happens when you flirt with cute scientists on the network. Sorry, Ruby. Cosima shoves the tray of coffee drinks at her.]

Ohhh, pictures. Hold this.

[She grins, draping one arm over Sarah's shoulders and pulling Chloe against her other side. She might be the only one excited about this picture, but she's enthusiastic enough for all three of them.]

[ Sarah takes a sip of coffee, just to stick it to the man. The man in this case being Cosima, and also the sun. ]

I'm great, thanks.

[ No, she's not. Save her. ]

[ Sarah's not totally thrilled to be here, even less now that she knows she's basically being forced to act like a glorified twat swat for Cosima, but she does smile when Cosima drags her over for a picture. After that's done with, she sighs, sips at her coffee, and heads over to confer with Ruby. ]

You think Cosima'd buy it if I pretended to fall and break my leg or some shit?

[Cosima still has her arm draped over Sarah's shoulder, partially for Ruby's photo and partially because she's being obnoxious, knowing she's only adding to Sarah's overheating issue.]

Bull shit. If that jacket makes it through the hike, I'll buy you ice cream.

[Please don't encourage her, Cosima.]

[Lesson learned, I guess?? In any case, she takes the coffees and then a couple of pictures, looking pretty amused the whole time.]

Perfect. [She starts flicking through them to make sure they came out okay.] So who do I send these to as proof or blackmail material or whatever?

[She laughs but then plays along, lowering her voice conspiratorially.]

Well, I don't think that's the kind of doctor she's aiming for, but there might still be some questions, yeah.

[Cosima pauses for a minute, going through the obvious blackmail choices. Cosima wouldn't be bothered if someone got a hold of the pictures, but she has a feeling Sarah and Chloe might feel differently. The suggestions come fast, with a flurry of excited hand gestures.]

Sarissa. Or Alison. Oh, wait, wait, definitely send a copy to George.

[She stops and looks up from her phone, eyebrow raised.]

You're aware I don't know any of those people, right? Help me out here.

I'll take you up on that.

[ Well, now that Cosima has brought up the jacket and how ridiculous it is, and dared her to wear it for the entire hike, Sarah is basically willing to die of heat stroke before she takes it off. Good job, Cosima. ]

Ah, fuck it, she's got healing powers.

[ So much for that great plan. ]

Sorry. [She doesn't look very sorry.] Guess you're stuck with us.

[Chloe was a bit aways, dressed in her usual clothing, jeans, boots, t-shirt, jacket tied around her waist, cigarette between her lips. Beanie. She was smirking at Sarah as she swiped a coffee.]

Try not to sound so excited, huh?

[She said, clearly teasing. She had jointed-herself away before they'd left so she wasn't in quite the same grumpy mood as her roommate.]

Before, huh? [The blue-haired girl looked so amused, even with being tugged into the picture against her will. She squirms away as soon as she can though.]

Something for them to slap on milk cartoons when we die out there in the woods?

[Was she serious? Prooooobably not.]

[She laughs and shakes her head.]

[Chloe thumbs over her shoulder at Sarah as she reaches up with her other hand to pluck her cigarette loose from her lips.]

Oh hey. I'm Chloe.

Not really from a hiking family.

[ Cosima doesn't count. Clearly, considering she's dressed for a yoga class or some shit. And she brought coffee. Which Sarah is drinking, despite the heat. ]

[ One side of her mouth curls up in a smile. ]

Don't tell anyone.

[ And then she's glancing up at the trail. ] How long of a hike is this gonna be, anyway?

[She smirks in Sarah's direction.]

Well, it's nice to meet you, Chloe.

Not too bad. Shouldn't be more than a few hours.

["Shouldn't" being the operative word.]

Sure, you too.

[And she's lightning her cigarette. So healthy.]
