[ when yukari finally reaches her assigned housing, she pokes her head in tentatively. a lot's happened in the last few hours, and she's still digesting the information, her pamphlet folded up in her hands. she's read it twice on the way over but yukari's still not sure she's fully grasped the situation. there's a nagging, small part of her that hopes no one's there so that she can get herself mentally situated about the whole "being in america in a parallel universe" thing, but yukari knows that she's more likely to settle if she has someone she can talk to. after setting what few items she has on her down in her room (even though her evoker is not a real gun, she doesn't want any questions about that), yukari enters the common area, hands behind her back: ]
Hello...? Is anyone home?
nonah; in the city; open!
... Koro-chan?
[ see yukari. yukari sees dog. dog is dog from home and why is he here? see yukari spend all of ten minutes with koromaru before he goes racing off because he's a shiba inu and, though loyal, doesn't listen to a n y o n e. so after a few minutes of running after him, yukari will get the attention of the nearest imPort, looking more than a little panicked because what even. ]
Ex, excuse me! [ oh boy, she's out of breath. ] Excuse me, but did you happen to see a white dog run by? He's about this — [ she holds her hands apart, an approximate size for a compact dog like korochan ] — big, answers to Koromaru? He's an albino shiba inu and... [ ... a small pout ] I didn't expect to see him here and he's run off.
[ depending on how long she's been looking, her exasperation will get worse, and it's more than likely she'll be speaking japanese, if that's an option you'd like to play with. ]
heropa & nonah; afternoon to early evening. a wildcard option(s) appear(s)!
[ after finding koromaru, yukari quickly picks up a leash to make sure that doesn't happen again, but in doing so she realizes that there's one more big problem she needs to solve: exchanging her yen for dollars. so it's back to heropa she goes! because the best place to do monetary exchange is with the people that brought her here, right?? right. that's her logic. it could be wrong.... please help she just wants to make sure she's taken care of.
once she has some spendy money, of course, her first stop is to the lucky cat cafe to get something to eat.
once that's all taken care of it's FINALLY time to start rebuilding her wardrobe. this is no ordinary shopping trip oh no, this is a trip that has Purpose: yukari actually needs clothing. she's only got the one outfit on her, and no way will that stand being worn more than twice in a row. it's way, way too hot to wear her cardigan for any length of time, and she simply refuses to wear anything the government would hand out to her. she has her own sense of style, but more than that, it's the principle of the thing. yukari's been on her own for so long that she still has trouble accepting help from anyone, even the people that brought her here. and so she goes across the two cities, ducking into stores and looking for practical things to wear. outside several stores sits koromaru, ears perked as he waits for her. come pet the doggy, he's friendly! or there's the option of running into yukari as she browses, because she's definitely the type of girl to ask for thoughts and opinions on outfits from fashionable individuals. and really, let's be honest — it's no fun shopping on your own. there's just a lot of browsing but no one to talk to. ]
closed to ken amada;
[ finally, finally, yukari feels like she can let herself rest. it's getting late into the evening, and even korochan is looking pretty worn out for all the running around they've been doing. she has only a few bags on her arms, just general things for now, and she lets koromaru trot on ahead of her. ] Hey, hold up, Koro-chan, are you sure this is the way back to the housing?
[ koromaru, being the smart dog that he is, pricks his ears up at the sound of yukari's voice, but keeps trotting, his curly tail bouncing with each step. yukari might not have been here long, but she's certain this isn't the way back — she doesn't remember passing a schoolyard ... but koro-chan seems determined, even breaking out into a lope the closer to the school they get. ]
Hey — wait! Koro-chan, come back!
[ god, shiba inu are a pain, and yukari finds herself running after him for the second time that day. SHE JUST WANTS TO BE HOME... TO PUT HER FEET UP... why this. ]

Nonah; city
But that voice makes him stop dead cold, recognizing the tone immediately. His muscles tense, his breathing stops, almost holding it in case the world decided to play some cruel joke on him.
Nah, it couldn't be. Not after everyone left. ]
Yeah, that's Koromaru, alright. He's a bit stubborn, but--
[His spins around, ready to explain to this stranger just how this magical shiba inu works when--]
AHHH!!!!
[Graceful.]
nonah; city
junpei screams.
yukari lets out a yelp of surprise.
before she knows it, she's reacting the only way she knows how: a quick lash with her hand, not aiming anywhere in particular, just trying to ... well, she doesn't even know, but geeze!! you don't go yelling in people's faces like that!
it's easily ducked, since yukari's only reacting on instinct, and not actually trying to hurt him. ]
Hey, cut it out!
no subject
It's really her. It's really Yukari. There was no doubting it, even if he wasn't looking right at her.
A small part of his heart that had been stamped on so many times in this place was healed that night, face going from a shock right into a smile as he--]
YUKARICCHI, MY ANGEL!
[ --scoops her up in his arms, practically lifting her off the ground in the proces.]
It's really you! It's -really- you! [With a quick spin, he places her down just opposite of where she was standing before, hand on his hips and practically GLOWING. The sun would be jealous of him right now.]
I swear I better not be dreaming. That was a pretty good hit--[Tapping his cheek with his finger.] I think I would've woken up from that one.
1/???
JUNPEI WHAT ARE YOU DOING. ]

only when she's finally free is she able to stumble back a few steps, giving junpei a harsh glare. her hands are on her hips to mirror his stance, but her entire demeanor is opposite. she's annoyed, that much is clear, and her hair is all mussed up now. thanks, junpei!! ]
Are you sick or something? What the hell was that?!
[ she's so, so tempted to flick his forehead, but she'll save her fingers the impact and instead cross her arms. ]
You're not dreaming, though I'm prob'ly in a nightmare right now.
no subject
Aw c'mon, I don't carry THAT many germs!
[His hand travels to his neck, rubbing it.]
Nightmare's not exactly a bad word for it--but hey, we're in this together now! When'd you show up? How long have you been here?
[Junpei, calm your shit.]
1/2
Coulda fooled me...
[ she mutters that under her breath before fixing her hair, checking her reflection in a nearby window before finally answering him. ]
Earlier today — a few hours ago. [ wait — ]

Hey, Amada! Your babysitter's here!!
[And a voice from the other side of the school gates calls back something like "Shut up, Noodle!" as a familiarbut still different-looking boy comes trotting out. His hair is longer and flipper, the tips dyed a soft pink color, and he's taller than he used to be. He's also grinning more widely than he ever did in Iwatodai as he hops up to the boy called Noodle and throws an arm around his shoulder, but he's still undeniably Ken.]

with legs sore and feeling a little winded (HAH), yukari follows koromaru onto the schoolyard, so ready to clip the leash back on and get him to her apartment when —
oh, of course. school kids. but more than that: ]
... Ken-kun? [ and then, upon seeing him, she calls out from her distance away, waving an arm above her head. ] Ken-kun!
no subject
[Ken was the one who threw his arm around his friend first, but now when he looks up at the voice calling his name he's the one caught in a headlock, Noodle dragging him down to stoop while digging his knuckles into Ken's hair to noogie him. But they both stop, looking up simultaneously for who's calling Ken.
Ken swats at Noodle and tears away from him immediately once he recognizes who it is, and then he's rushing toward her. He has to skid to come to a stop as he blurts out]
Yukari-san!
no subject
and with ... is that pink hair? she can't tell from this distance, but it's one of the reasons why she's jogging forward to close the distance. ]
Hey, Ken-kun! It's about time I found someone else.
no subject
With Koromaru too... you haven't run into anyone yet? Kirijo-senpai? Junpei-san?
no subject
No, no, I did! That's why I was kinda expecting to find someone else here.
[ she glances around at the other kids doing their thing before she'll keep her attention fully on ken. all she wants is to get a little acquainted with what's going on — it's still a lot to digest. ]
Anyone else I'm missing?
(no subject)
Heropa
[She glances up from Yukari, looking at the store window. She hadn't really even noticed, she'd been so consumed with her thoughts-- and her friend's presence.
Yukari's likely one of the only people in the world who knows that she's not one for fashion herself. It's all the Kirijo stylists who pick out outfits for her; here she's just been going with what she remembers. But Mitsuru knows that Yukari likes these things.] Would you like to go in? I think this store's style would suit you rather well.
no subject
I'll pass for now. [ there's something far more pressing in her mind, now that she's had a moment to think about it. ] How about you, senpai?
[ there's no way mitsuru would have been able to bring her stylists with her, so if there's anyone who can help this heiress figure out some elegant yet relaxed things to wear, it's yukari. and the glint in her eye says as much. ]
no subject
I can't say I have the exact same cash line as I did at home, though. Perhaps we'll just look.
no subject
Don't worry. I've only picked out a pair of jeans and a nice shirt — I think I might have enough for something nice for you.
no subject
Yukari, you don't have to pay for my clothes! I've been saving up since I got here; of course I can afford something for myself. You only just arrived, so you should be careful with your money.

as a servant, archer is not unlike a piece in a chess set. there at the beginning, but ultimately not important to anyone but his player if he is lost. and even then, she is more like a fellow piece herself — a pawn, perhaps — than any other master in the moon cell: no control over the board, just hoping she can make it to the other side to become stronger, to survive until the end. it should be up to him to protect her the whole way, not leaving her side just before the penultimate battle, with only servantless, artificial rani to help her. even with their respective gifts, neither of the girls are meant for fighting servants.
the only thing to do for now, though, is try and find a way back, without running out of mana (real mana, not just the spiritual energy stored inside the moon cell) and fading away. less violent than being forcibly deleted, but not exactly a situation the moon's grail prepared him for. what does someone who is only a copy of another do with a physical form they shouldn't have?
wander around, obviously. which is exactly what he's doing when yukari rushes him. her words are out of place amongst the backdrop of english, but he knows the meaning just fine, pausing in his step to look her and the dogless street over before he replies. (give her a chance to catch her breath, you know.) ]
I haven't. [ and how do you lose something you never expected to find in the first place! ]
nonah.
Dammit, [ she mutters, and places her hands on her knees so she can take a second to catch her breath. ] Thought for sure I saw him come down this way...
nonah.
You might have better luck finding a witness if you ask the Americans in a language they're more likely to understand.
nonah.
[ yukari looks up at him, and then down at her shoes. dammit, she really was speaking japanese, wasn't she? ahhhh, she was so stressed out, she didn't think, not that it was ever that easy for her to speak english in the first place. ]
Yeah, I guess so. [ still, she fixes this guy with a look, an eyebrow lifting. ] You understood me just fine, though.
nonah.
[ it's not an offer, really. just checking to make sure she can actually handle things. ]
