[As promised, a few hours later, Kotetsu's waiting at a local cafe for Clark to come join him. For once, he's even there on time, sitting in a booth munching on some of the seasoned fries he ordered for them both while he waits.

When Clark comes in, he raises an arm to wave and flag him down.]

Heyyyy, glad you made it. [He gives Clark a grin, dorky but utterly genuine.] It's good to see you again.

[Clark sits in front of him, giving him a genuine smile of his own. There's a lot of people he became friends with, in his last stay in here, but few as genuine and honest as Kotetsu.]

IT's good to see you again as well, I'm really glad you're around. Waking up with more than half a year missing has been... intense.

[God, the whole memory thing is still SO creepy, Kotetsu hates even thinking about it.]

Bahh, it's so weird, right? I've never been gone that long, but even the couple times where it was a month, it felt super messed up to be expecting to go back to your usual routine but everyone's already spent all that time without you so it's kinda like you're new all over again.

[andaway]

[He smiles, and nods.] Right?

Or like everyone's moved on and it isn't really clear where you're going to fit in, again. I even have new roomates now. I've got to get to know them all over again.

[earnedmystripes]

Aaah, yeah.

[He scritches at his chin, thinking.]

Maybe you could like, order pizza for the house sometime, or something. Might break the ice?

[andaway]

[He laughs, shaking his head.] I love how we both thought of food as a way to break the ice.

But in my case I just baked cookies.

[earnedmystripes]

Oh man, that must've been a hit.

[The last time he tried to bake something he set off his fire alarm.....all this poor loser can do is microwave things and make fried rice ok.]

You just can't go wrong with cookies, it's a law of the universe or something. Like how the sky's always gotta be blue.

[andaway]

[A one shouldered shrug.] One of my new roommates actually didn't feel like trying them... you never know, some people just don't enjoy sugar. Or socializing.

How's everything in your end? Any changes?

[earnedmystripes]

The second thing, for sure. You can't not like sugar, it's basically a law. Probably in our DNA, or something.

[Kotetsu you are literally talking to an alien.]

And you know how it is, heh. People're always coming and going. Bit more going than coming, roommate-wise, though there's been a new girl around. Haven't really gotten to know her yet, though. Timing sucks sometimes.

[Especially when you're a superhero and spend most of your free time running around in a robosuit helping people. Kinda puts the kibosh on getting to know your non-superhero roommates, haha. ha...]

[That startles a chuckle out of Clark. For an Alien he has pretty sweet tooth. But as Kotetsu keeps on talking he sobers up.]

I know how the coming and going thing is. I wish we got a bit of a warning about it, at least- before we go, or something like that. Or any explanation at all, really.

Thank you for making time to hang out with me though. Has work been busy?

That'd be nice, huh? Getting say goodbyes or at least the possibility they'd remember you wherever they're going.

[He shrugs at the question.]

Eh, sorta I guess. It's summer right now, and we don't have like...a lot of kids enrolled at Xavier's during the year either. But, y'know, I fill up my hours somehow.

[By being. A superhero. Lol.]

[Clark grins.] I'm glad to know the school is still going strong. I always thought it was a good idea, a good place to have here.

Meanwhile I apparently wait for my agent to call me with modeling offers.

[Kotetsu has to stifle a laugh in his beer.]

The high-glamor life isn't for you, huh?

[andaway]

[That's ok, Clark himself is also chuckling.]

Let's just say it's not a career I'm considering for when I'm back home, no. I'd take going back to the style section, even. But it pays the bills until I get a reporting job back.

At least you might get some cool glasses outta the whole deal, right? Could be something way crappier. When I first got here they stuck me in a PR job for the government.

[Which he hated. so. much.]

[andaway]

[Clark wrinkles his nose. Yeah, he'd deeeefinitely hate that too.]

That sounds bad. How long did you last?

Uhhh...few months. Five? Six? Not sure.

[It feels like forever ago that he quit, honestly, and it was a minor miracle he lasted that long to begin with. Xavier's suits him so much better.]
