Trials & Tribulations

WHO: Olivier Armstrong, Phoenix Wright, Yuri Petrov, Miles Edgeworth (& Others?)
WHERE: Maurtia Falls, Helix Station, RISE Courtroom
WHEN: June 20-23, 2016
WHAT: The trial of Yuri Petrov for his crimes.
WARNINGS: Courtroom antics???

The room was stark and spartan, in accordance with Olivier's tastes. No flags decorated the walls. She sat at a desk located on a raised section at the front of the room; both prosecution and defense (with the accused) had desks on either side. There were several rows of bench seats for witnesses, reporters, viewers and the like, arranged in four columns on either side of the central aisle.

Olivier Armstrong never looked happy, but now she looked slightly less-happy than usual.

"This trial will now begin. Major-General Armstrong, presiding. Miles Edgeworth, representing our full authority. Phoenix Wright, defense counsel. Yuri Petrov, accused," she read in a cool voice.

"Prosecutor, you may begin."

It's showtime. Edgeworth is dressed neatly, no longer in the disheveled state he's been in for the past few weeks, and he stands confidently as he prepares to speak. He clears his throat, more for dramatics than anything, and begins his opening statement.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the courtroom, my name is Miles Edgeworth, and I'll be representing RISE and the prosecution. On the night of April 23rd, Yuri Petrov, also known as the serial killer Lunatic, assaulted one Haise Sasaki. In his pursuit of justice - if one can even call it that - he triggered an uncontrollable reaction from Sasaki, forcing him to use abilities that saved his life... at the cost of his sanity. Several imPorts were injured until Sasaki was brought down and able to control himself, but these casualties would not have occurred at all if Lunatic had not decided to take the law into his own hands and hunt down the man unfortunate enough to be deemed a sinner."

He barely holds back a sneer when he speaks the last word, but other than that, Edgeworth holds back his usual dramatics. Whether his mood is still blunted or he's building up to something bigger is anyone's guess.

"Yuri Petrov is a man who already has blood on his hands, and would have had more if Sasaki was not stopped. I would like to take this time to remind the court that this is not the first time Petrov has acted as Lunatic. From August of 2014 to February of last year, he decided that mortal justice was not enough, and he donned his mask to deliver divine retribution to the native population - and a small handful of unfortunate imPorts. His assault on Sasaki proves that he has neither the interest nor the ability to stop his compulsions, and it will only be a matter of time before he attacks again. During these proceedings, I will show you the full extent of his actions, past and present."
