Honestly, Tim's not really sure what he intends to get out of this meeting, but he couldn't really just ignore Superman's appearance, either. Since he's gathered that Clark was here before, he supposes that, if nothing else, someone should let him know that Bruce is gone. And Tim's volunteered himself for the job.

He doesn't really want to invite Clark to his apartment, but this isn't a conversation to have out in the open, either. Luckily, he has that empty house that no one's using at the moment, although he's considered changing that. Someone should keep an eye on the place, at the very least, and it's kind of needlessly stubborn to hold onto his (government-issued) apartment when he has a place with a Batcave already set up on hand. Maybe he should talk to Dick about that.

Honestly, he wasn't so busy that he couldn't have seen Clark immediately, but padding the time at least let him clean the place up a little so it doesn't look quite so... unlived-in while he keeps an ear out for his appointment.

Unfortunately for Tim, it would take more than a little bit of cleaning to fool Clark into believing someone’s living in the apartment. Supersenses, and all. Fortunately for Tim, though, he’s known the bats for long enough that he expects this kind of treatment. If he has to go to a safehouse instead of where he actually lives, that’s fine.

He’s still smiling when he knocks on the door- as Clark Kent, because Superman is going to lay low for a while.

“Hello?”

All right. Okay. So.

Tim shows up at the door, wearing his usual (lately, anyway) blend of blandly PR-friendly clothing and chronic exhaustion. "Clark. Hi. Come in." He steps out of the way so that he's not blocking the doorway. "So, did anyone... Bruce isn't here. Uh, anymore."

Good, good. Launch immediately into that, Tim, it'll be great.

Clark can’t help but blink. He knows Tim is… well as blunt as the Batfamily usually is in general. He learned long ago not to take it personally. Because it isn’t. And Bruce hadn’t been using the window to let himself into Clark’s apartment even after Clark had turned the locator on, so he already had a suspicion. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting, though.

But he forces himself to smile, for Tim’s sake.

“I guess even this place can’t hold the Batman away from Gotham for too long, hm?”

Yeah. He winces. "Sorry. That was... not the best way to say it." He's pretty sure he used to be better at this stuff. It just... had to be said at some point, and they're in Bruce's house without Bruce, so. It's not like it wouldn't have come up.

He lifts a hand. It's fine, he'd rather have this than people walking on eggshells around him. It means Tim trusts he can take it.

"He gave me something, once." He reaches for a pendant that he always kept under his shirt. A combination of the S-shield and the batsymbol. "There's a locator inside. If I was in danger I was supposed to press it and he'd know.

I've been doing that since I got here, to check on him. To no avail."
