let the waves up take me down
WHO: Robert Callaghan, Harley Quinn
WHERE: At an ice cream place somewhere IDK
WHEN: A day after this
WHAT: Ice cream is used as an excuse to catch up. Or maybe not an excuse because hey, ice cream. With sprinkles!
WARNINGS: Maybe feels?
After essentially cutting himself off from most of the world for almost two months, it was certainly nice to be reached out to - and vice versa. He found himself looking forwards to this, with a bit of lingering concern in the back of his mind but...Harley made it easy not to focus too much on her. Maybe too easy. It was something he'd got the feeling she'd learned over time, and had plenty of practice with.
Still. It was good to laugh with her again. And playing to this particular like avoided the chance of alcohol ruining things with some stupid choices. Any ones he made he couldn't really blame on it, anyway...he just hoped broaching things after they'd had a chance to get the pleasantries and a few scoops out of the way.
"So. Was it just me, or did you seem a little down yesterday?"

"So. Was it just me, or did you seem a little down yesterday?"

"Maybe you're projecting," she suggests brightly and angles the cone carefully towards him. "Here, try this."

For the moment.
Utilizing a spoon - someone got a bowl instead of a cone - Robert manages to nab a bit, then slips it on to mouth to taste. "Mm. Not bad. " His own selections had been rocky road and a cinnamon bun inspired flavor.

"Mmmm. But mine's better." The ice cream is starting to melt down the cone and over her hand so she pauses to lick it up, a little more lasciviously than she would normally, but the more distractions she can throw his way and keep him off serious talks about her problems, the better. "You shoulda got sprinkles, mister. It makes a difference."

"I'm indulging enough as it is," he points out. "Frankly I have no clue how this is going to balance the food diary. But I'm due for a treat, I think."
no subject
She's quiet for a bit, just enjoying this moment before she goes and ruins it all. "So, about what happened. Is that gonna happen again?"
no subject
And then he's silent for another reason. The deliberate spoonful of ice cream, he takes, maybe, to give him time to consider. Finally; "If it does, it won't be because of me. You know how this place is."
no subject
"It was weird seeing you like that. So that's how you used to be, huh? And you thought you didn't need therapy, pfft."
"Still," she taps his cheek with her ice cream, just because she knows she can get away with being brattier than usual, "at least you looked pretty hot."
no subject
Robert grimaces ruefully, leaning away from that little tap as he reaches up to wipe it off. "I'd like to note I did sign up for therapy a few months after coming here. I just chose Crane." Absolutely not the best choice he'd ever made. To be fair, he wasn't the only one tricked, but...
Wait.
"-and hot was not ever the plan. It was...supposed to make people run away."

Rude.
"Not to defend what I was doing," he continues, "but they worked well enough, given the circumstances. Though at this point, I'm glad that Hiro and his friends were able to stop me."

She sighs and looks at him critically. No wonder Scarecrow had such a stiffy for this guy. He is wrecked. Kind of explains her own interest too, if she's honest with herself, which sucks.
"You know, I really thought I was finally starting to go for nice guys. But nah, turns out my type is still emotionally unavailable whack jobs. So much for personal growth."
no subject
waitaminute.
"Excuse me?"
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
no subject
Not even at his most stubborn can Robert possibly argue that he's emotionally open and stable. The guy went full supervillain. One of us! One of us!
no subject
Okay, well, maybe he's a bit unhealthy in that department (which is why he's going to therapy thank you) but he's not a whack-
At least he isn't a superv
God damn it. "You should go for nice guys," he says instead, changing the subject while leaning his ice cream accusingly towards her. "And even if you didn't, I'm sure that you have better things to do than chase after your...'type'. Don't you have plenty chasing you?"
no subject
"Oh please. I'm a fun time for a night or two, but I'm not the kinda girl anybody wants to hang onto. Do you actually want to hear about my dating life? It might give you another heart attack."
