Here is a song about springtime in general
Ken Amada, early May, Heropa (sorta)
[While Edgeworth didn't notice the Pines' disappearance immediately, he did notice it, and the first person on his mind was Ken. He knows the boy was close to the both of them, so it might be wise to check up on him and see how he's been doing. So, he'll be getting a call with some (well-meaning) ulterior motives.]
Ken? This is Edgeworth. Are you busy at the moment?
Kitty Jones, a park in Heropa
[While Edgeworth has mixed feelings about the powers the porter has blessed him with, there's one thing that he's unambiguously grateful for: no allergies. Since he's been blessed with the ability to enjoy fresh air without choking on fresh pollen, he decides to do his leisure reading outside today, and settles onto an empty park bench. Before he pulls out his book, though, he notices movement out of the corner of his eye. It's a...
...dog? He looks around for its owner, but sees no one. Hrmph. Maybe it's an escaped pet out on an adventure? Or a stray dog that's roaming about. He decides to watch it for a moment, just to see if it's anything he needs to be concerned about.]
Kotetsu Kaburagi, a late night diner, Heropa"
[It's late at night, and despite his best efforts, Miles Edgeworth can't go back to sleep. He tried herbal tea. He tried soothing music. He tried readjusting his pillows, and readjusting them again. However, once he finally got comfortable again, his stomach decided it had other plans.
So, what does one do when they're half starved, don't feel like cooking, and nothing else is open? You trudge your way to the nearest late night diner. Edgeworth tromps in, looking around for a place to sit, when he notices a familiar figure. Is that Kotetsu? He narrows his eyes, and-
-oh no. Oh no, he made eye contact. Maybe if he makes a quick escape, Kotetsu won't notice him...]
Simon Keyes, the Lucky Cat Cafe
[True to his word, Edgeworth arrives at the cafe right when he says he will. He has his drink, he has a table to himself, and he has a travel chess set tucked away in his bag. All he has to do is set up the board and wait for his new guest to walk on in. And if he's a no show... well, he has other ways to occupy his time.]
Tobias Matthews, tbd
[Edgeworth was, unfortunately, busy on the day that Tobias posted to the network about his chest pains. Everything seems fine for now, and what sort of medical advice can he give a vampire, anyway? But... they did agree to a truce of sorts, didn't they? Call it curiosity or concern, but either way, he gives Toby a ring.]
Toby? This is Edgeworth. I, erm-
[He clears his throat, straightening up]
I saw your message. About your... medical issues.
Josuke Higashikata, Heropa Residence #038 -> the streets of Heropa
[A while back, Edgeworth had promised Josuke driving lessons. And he kept his word! ...sorta. Unfortunately, with one disaster after the other, it's difficult to maintain a regular schedule for lessons. But today they'll get another lesson in, come hell or high water.
...once Josuke arrives, that is. Edgeworth stands outside his door waiting for the young man, checking the time on his device in between reading the network. Josuke's not late... yet.]
Heropa, OPEN
[Ah, Florida. A warm paradise where the sun is always shining...
...said nobody who's actually stayed in this godforsaken peninsula for more than a month. It's time for the daily afternoon rainstorm, and Edgeworth struggles with his umbrella as he searches for his car. The sooner he finds it, the sooner he can actually dry off.
Unfortunately, the weather has other plans. A sudden gust of wind kicks up, blowing against Edgeworth's back... and pushing his umbrella out of his hands. He chokes on his breath and, forgetting his dignity, goes running down the sidewalk after it.]
[OOC: Yep, a catch all log for May. If you'd like a thread besides the starter, hit me up over PM or plurk and I'll start a new one in the comments.]

But things are different today.
Josuke appreciates Miles Edgeworth for being both a man of the law and someone who's been kind enough to continue offering him (much needed) driving lessons when time permits. So, he makes an effort to be on time for a change, and as a result...manages to only be one or two fleeting minutes late. The result, probably, of the hands of his and Miles' watches being set differently or, and this much more likely, Josuke haven taken just a little too long to set his hair before leaving his house.]
Yo, Mr. Edgeworth!

Good afternoon, Josuke. Are you ready?

Good afternoon. You didn't have any trouble finding the place, did you?
[His face is calm and neutral, but being nearly seven years younger than the Edgeworth Simon knows, he might pick up on a few differences, in both demeanor and appearance. Assuming it isn't chalked up to vanity, that is.]
no subject
No, I decided to track it down last night. You hang out with those Dendarii folks at all?

open (and probably filled with regrets, sorry edgeworth)
it also has the additional danger of not bringing you into contact with Hazel during a less than proud moment, but it's too late for regrets like that. she'd been running some little errand today and just happens to be coming down the opposite direction on the sidewalk when, wow, that sure is an umbrella barreling towards her. and, wow, that's definitely Edgeworth chasing after it.
really, he never stood a chance. Hazel waits until the umbrella scoots past her before stepping right into Edgeworth's path under the guise of getting a better view at the thing's brazen escape attempt. she even shades her eyes with a hand beneath her hood.]
Wow, look at that thing go. Wonder how far it'll get?
no subject
Will you get out of my way?! I don't have time for this!
[Now that he has his balance, he leans away from Hazel, and makes a desperate attempt to sidestep her.]
no subject
Shit, sorry! Totally my bad.
[and with a beatific smile Hazel moves...right back into his path again. whoops!]

... Hello?
no subject
[Not really. But in his experience, busywork is a better cure for the blues than a game of twenty questions regarding ~feelings~. Besides, this will give him an opportunity to observe Ken in person.]
no subject
He doesn't want to be upset either, though.
He sighs, then levels out his voice as he answers.]
No, I'm not busy. I can come over.

heartstomach wants what it wants, etc. So he grabs his coat and his shoes and wanders out into the great wasteland of closed cafes and restaurants until he finds one of those late-night places he usually only goes to when being Wild Tiger is demanding weird hours of him.He doesn't expect to run into anyone he knows, but then--ah, crap, eye contact. Eye contact that lasts a few seconds too long for either of them to pretend it didn't happen, so he raises an arm, putting on a slight smile. Hey, the last time they met, it ended up...okay, mostly. Maybe it would this time, too.]
...Hey. Been awhile, huh?
no subject
[His voice is a bit more dour than he intends, and Edgeworth shakes his head before he starts again. This time, his tone is neutral, polite, and civil]
Anyway, I'm sorry for disturbing you. I have no intention of disrupting your...

Tex, residence #038, first week of May
But that's what Tex is here for! Edgeworth waits by the door, trusting that she'll be here on time.]

When she spots him, she gives him a nod in greeting. Seems she's not the only one taking this seriously. Good. ]
Everything set up inside?
no subject
Yes ma'am. Is there anything I should know before we begin?
[Ma'am isn't an address he'd ever use for her in any other context. However, this level of formality is an easy habit to fall into, given their circumstances. Right now she isn't just Agent Tex. Right now she's the teacher and he's the student.]

But sometimes, damn it all, the weather is so beautiful and you just need to run around like a mad thing, and people got worked up when she did that as a wolf, so dog it is.
And that's why she finds herself flopped down in a patch of sunshine, sides heaving as she pants out her exhaustion in the aftermath of that mad sprinting. She's a dog of no particular pedigree, no collar, but soft clean fur and bright eyes, a friendly-looking creature. And she's a friendly-feeling creature, too. That's why she sort of perks up when the man on the bench (Edgeworth, she notes distantly, but animal contentment has sort of muffled the higher functions of her brain) looks over at her. And she gets to her feet to wander a few steps closer. ]
no subject
Either way, Edgeworth won't abandon the creature, but he won't approach it too quickly, either. Instead, he'll get up and take a few steps forward, before he crouches down and extends his hand to sniff. It's okay, pup, it's okay!]

At least he's on neutral terms with Edgeworth right now. So Toby answers after exactly two rings.]
Ah! Hello, Edgeworth.
[He's about to ask how he could help when the other man continues.]
Oh, you mean my network SOS a couple nights ago?
