Yeah. Yeah, you are. [It feels a bit odd saying that, as if Junpei didn't have to suffer loss to have her with him, but it's something he agrees with. Any way they can hold onto the people that they've lost, the people that they've left behind, is something to hold onto and to feel grateful for, every single day.]

If she arrives, that's even better. But until then, she's always with you. One day, you'll have to tell me what she was like -- if you don't mind, that is. [Jaime offers Junpei a small smile.] Where I'm from, we remember people by telling the good stories. And, I mean, a few bad ones too, so long as they're funny.

Man, are you gonna be surprised by her.

[He doesn't mind talking about Chidori in the least. She was strange, and no one really understood their relationship at all except them, but that was what made it so special. They understood each other on a level deeper than common interests and physical appearances.

And even if her time in that world was short, and she knew when she was going to die...she had loved for once in her life, and that was enough for her.

[He and Traci don't. He's some kid from El Paso, big family, small dreams. She's a world traveler, a witch, striving for bigger things, better things, as willingly entangled with the weird as Jaime's unwillingly dragged into it. Throw in long-distance and, honestly, disproportionate amounts of hotness, and he knows a lot of people wonder why she's with him.

The contrast between Junpei and his girl might be even wider, but Jaime will understand. Love does funny things to a guy.]

Well...alright. She was one of those...goth lolitas. White dress, kinda frilly, all the lacey stuff...thinks about death a lot?

[It's hard to hide that smile as he talks, like this is the first time he's ever been able to be open about her. It wasn't that long ago, all things considered, but...things were starting to heal, a little. She was here, after all.]

[Goth lolitas? Jaime knows goth, but Lolita is the title of that seriously creepy book about that guy who gets his rocks off because of a teenager, right? That can't be it. But hey, Junpei is smiling, and that's good enough for him; he's not about to derail the conversation through asking Junpei to elaborate on what his dead girlfriend was into.]

Okay, [he says, a little cautiously, trying to figure out a nice way to respond to thinks about death a lot.] I don't know much about it, but hey, I trust you. Not the kinda girl people expected you to get with, I guess. But she must have liked you too, yeah?

Get this...she kidnapped me. That's how we met!

[Oh yeah, she was one of those evil people too.] But the thing is...I don't think she was really happy with her life. After the team helped me out Seriously, they did me a solid with this one I visited her in the hospital...she's...she was amazing, really. She could draw really well, and she had the cutest laugh...


I think I was the only one who could make her do that.

[His hands slow, eyes softening.]


Yeah...she liked me too. Or at least just my dumb jokes.

There are stranger ways of meeting your future girlfriend, he supposes. Not many, but they're out there, and they've probably happened to people that he knows. At least one thing he understands is the fact that not everyone is happy with their lives -- hell, most people he knows aren't.][He doesn't have experience in that romantically, maybe, but he knows how it feels otherwise. It's a great feeling.]

It sounds like you made her happy.
