[it's only a moment's rummaging to get out the first bottle and an opener, the cork popping off with a satisfying sound.

[ Miles can't help but smile sympathetically when he returns and catches Rincewind in the act. He offers the wine glass for the next drink, at least. ]

[Rincewind wipes his mouth on his sleeve, taking the glasses with a guilty look to pour them both a share.]

It is what it's for, in its defense. It can't ever be filled, you see. Multi-dimensional. Rather like a walking, bottomless safe. ...Which sometimes has teeth. Really only makes it safer.

[ Miles, meanwhile, reaches out to fill his own glass. ]

Except when it eats people?

[Rincewind smirks around his next drink. It's tired, but nevertheless a tad cruel.]

I never said it was safe for everyone.

It might be monstrous, but it is my only defense here.

[ No magic here either. Miles really hasn't taken any supernatural precautions even now. ]

I won't, I won't. And no, I haven't yet. It still seems rather ... odd to contemplate.

[Rincewind's expression darkens swiftly, his hand clenched hard around his glass]

It would take a single bloody phone call and a bit of money, what the hell are you waiting for? It's still not really to you, is it, magic? Not even after having it literally burned into your bone, you still aren't taking it seriously.

[ That was a stronger reaction than he'd been anticipating. He lifts a hand in surrender at that. ]

[ Some instinct pings in the back of his head. He understands the wizard is concerned, but ... ]

[Rincewind scoffs, worming back on the couch until he's huddled in its corner, taking sullen sips of wine.]

[ Miles seizes on the change in subject gladly. ]
