WHO: Sabriel and you!
WHERE: The Porter Cities
WHEN: The rest of April
WHAT: Sabriel meets a friend, bathes a bird, and practices magic.
WARNINGS: Probably none?
Bird Bath (closed to Kagerou)
[Sabriel's thought about this, considered what she knows, and come to one conclusion- no one else will do this, so she must.
This is why she's borrowed the biggest inflatable pool her neighbors have, set it up on a lawn in the imPort housing section of Nonah, along with a pile of large sponges, car washing soaps, chamois, vehicle wax, and everything else necessary to wash a car- or a seventeen foot tall robot.
There's also a few tanks of gasoline, and Sabriel calls Kagerou, telling him where to meet her, that she brought gas, and that she's going to give him a bath because Charter knows he needs one.]
Meeting up (closed to Touka)
[The coffee shop that Sabriel's picked out is one that's perhaps a little pretentious- it roasts its own blends, and the smell permeates the building. But there's plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, with umbrellas shielding the outside tables from both sunshine and De Chima's frequent downpours.
It's overcast today, and Sabriel's sitting under one of the umbrellas, sipping some coffee, rather thick book in front of her.]
In the park
[Sabriel's been a regular visitor to this part of Nonah for some time. So while there are a few stares and attempts at photography when she starts drawing Charter Marks in the air, but most people let her practice, either watching for a few minutes or going about their day.]
[Wildcard]
[Have another idea? Put it in your reply!]

[It doesn't take him long to arrive, circling the house a few times before he lands on the roof, peering down at her. Why does she have a pool? Is it warm out? Too warm for humans? And what does that have to do with gasoline?]
[He's not the most subtle in daylight, but, nevertheless, he pauses a while to watch her before calling out.]
Why do you have so much water?
no subject
[Sabriel's not sure if she should add 'ever' or 'since you've been here' to the end of her question. Still, she offers her best smile and holds up a sponge.]
no subject
[Once or twice. Because you didn't really get dirty living indoors your whole life.]
no subject
Please, step into the pool.

[He shifts a bit, where he sits.]
Are you going to make me be human?

[Sabriel grabs a hose, switching it on and spraying Kagerou with water.]

[And anything else he might have said just disintegrates into flustered squawks.]

Anyway, he happens upon her practicing her magic in the park and decides to watch out of curiosity and some degree of wonder. After all, magic isn't really his thing, and it really helped the Mighty One out of a bind back then. So when she's just about wrapping things up, he approaches.]
Uh, hi. Sabriel, right? I'm Norman. Sorry I never thanked you for what you did for the Mighty One nearly a month ago.
no subject
You don't need to thank me. Helping people is my responsibility.
no subject
And I have to thank you—it's not just about fulfilling a responsibility. He's everything.
[Here, he might just be another boy, another imPort. But he's everything to Norman, and the world's only hope back at home.]
You were able to do something for him that I couldn't. You were able to rescue him in a way that I can't.

True. It's just that... [How does he go into this?] ...as the Guardian of the Mighty One, I'm charged with protecting him. At least, that's the deal back home. I can still feel the weight of my responsibility here, and when he was first overcome by Peter Pan's spell, then later by the Soviets...
[A sigh.] It was frustrating. I didn't know what to do.

She'd packed an umbrella too, because it's basically a necessity in De Chima, but it's still stuffed in her bag. And it's not even raining. Overcast skies? She'll take it. And she picks up speed- waving and walking straight up to her friend.]
Sabriel! You're early!
[Or is she late? Being late is a thing she might do with other people, but hopefully not now. She wouldn't be late for Sabriel on purpose.]
no subject
How have you been? I know we haven't spoken for a bit.
no subject
[She smiles back and slides down into the chair across from Sabriel.]
Too bad I couldn't bring my friend to meet you. I bet you guys would get along.
no subject
[But let's not talk about that.]
Have you been here before? They apparently roast their own blends and- honestly, I didn't know there were so many types of coffee.
no subject
[Yeah, she's fine with avoiding the russia situation if Sabriel'd rather not.]
I'll have to make you a cup like we did back home. I dunno if I could get it exactly the same, but I'm sure I could get it close.
no subject
And- I'd like that. You worked at a coffeshop back in your world, right?
Park
Shoving her hands into her pockets she stays a polite distance away and waits for a break before remarking: ]
Of all the unfamiliar ways of working magic here, that one is the loveliest.
Re: Park
I've always liked it, but it's what I grew up with- the Charter is the major source of magic in the Old Kingdom.
no subject
So it's....something outside yourself? That it comes from?

[And with that, they have reached the end of Kel's knowledge of magical theory]
'Charter' makes it sound as though it was written.
