[ Peggy gives him another smile, finding a free spot to sit down and watch Kaneda as he worked. She had never seen his process before. ]

Can I get you something to drink?

Something...to drink?

[It's as if the question were so foreign to him that he honestly didn't know how to answer. Someone getting HIM something like that? With...no strings attached?]

Uh...

Now that you mention it, the fumes are making me thirsty...water sound okay?

[Probably the best thing for him really in her opinion.]

[Funny, he's ordered a drink before, certainly at a bar, but being offered a drink when it's not to make a sale...

[When Peggy does return, she has two bottles of water. Taking his advice was an easy decision because Kaneda was right. She holds one out to him with a smile. ]

I thought bottled water would be easier as it won't spill when you have the lid closed.

[Peggy tries to get a quick glimpse of her piece he was working on.]

How's it coming on?

[Kaneda looks up, lips curled up into a smile when he hears her voice. And even better, it looks like she took his advice, too. His arm reaches out, taking one of those bottles and setting his mask to the side so he can sip.]

This part's got to dry, but I think I've got the buildings all set!


[And true enough, what shows is a dusky background with white buildings cut out on it, space left in the middle-left side for a large, white, surprisingly accurate tower and vague-but-detailed windows and markings. It's still rough, but it's got its own aesthetic to it...]

I think it looks wonderful so far, Kaneda. I can't wait to see the finished result.

[Her smile widens as she gets a better look at his work. Maybe she would ask him to create another piece in the future. Something to tie in with the current one.]

When I get a chance I'll have to let people know about the work that you do.

[Look at him, trying to hide that smile from the compliment. Sure, he was no stranger to it, and even he could brush it off and take it in stride. But over something like this...it's a bit different. School didn't lend much to the arts and whatever he DID do was seen as hooliganism.

Compliments like this pretty much didn't exist back home.]



Peggy, Peggy!

[A hand goes to his heart white paint accidentally getting on that shirt of his. Not that it isn't already colourfully decorated by it at this point.]

You flatter me!

[Where else was she going to get a unique piece like this? It wasn't like anything Peggy had seen back home, but that made it all the more special.

She hides a titter behind her hand when the paint lands on his shirt, giving a polite cough afterwards. Peggy gestures to the spot of white paint, hoping the shirt itself wasn't one of his favourites.]

You're very welcome. I'm just glad I can see the progress of the piece from beginning to end.
