Well... I mean, there's nothing wrong with it. It just seems weird to have two forms of government side by side.

Most government have levels. Here the president is more or less serving the same function as a monarch. They just have to elect them rather have them born to the role.

True. Just... it feels like 'king' and 'president' are on the same level in the hierarchy.

That would be fairly accurate, in my experience.

Well, there's a lot of history behind it - the very fact that we share a lot of the history is weird, but aside from that. [ He shrugs. ]

Yeah. Like... it's strange how a lot of people here are from this world, but a different version of it.
