[ That's . . . strange, isn't it? A little bit strange. They were both imPorts, it was hardly something to be embarrassed about. Unless he was trying to be quiet about it here . . . ? ]

Other than good?

[ She looks back down at the key chain, reaching into a pocket for her keys. ]

I guess, it's just . . . everyone comes from different places. And the more you learn about people . . . the less it's really possible to compare. Different people, different worlds . . . different experiences. Sometimes it's all hard to understand.

[ There isn't much on her key ring. One shiny standard key for Heropa's government housing. One much older, battered house key to her parents' apartment. And one almost antique brass key for her dorm room, kept long after the dorms themselves had been destroyed. ]

. . . other times . . . sometimes, I guess, with some people . . . it's not that hard at all.

[Mewtwo was wary of people around here. He didn't want to be accosted by fans again.

He spies the key ring, something that looks far older than the housing keys. He's not sure of the significance exactly, other than it means something to her. But what she's saying...it speaks to him.

Mewtwo signs again.

I don't know if I can say that much. It . . . would feel really presumptuous, I think. Like I'd be assuming a lot, and a lot of those things . . . they aren't mine to assume.

[ Her fingers deftly pry open the mechanism of the keychain, slipping it onto the key ring.

Her voice softens a little, looking at it. ]

. . . but I know it's hard, living in a world where no one else is like you.

[She sounds like she's trying to understand...which is more than can be said for most. But what they say is much more surprising, surprising in the sense he realized it sounded familiar.

Sounded much like what he thought he heard before.

He looks slightly guilty for the charade, signing slowly.

Not really. But I got to meet one person who was close.

[ She closes her hand around the keys, slipping them back into her picket. ]

A year ago. I'd never met anyone else, before that, who could do the things I do.
